WWE Smackdown 3/6/22 | A Coherent Review.

Hey, look. Another memorable episode of Smackdown if you're a fan of Madcap Moss.  Drew McIntyre And The New Day vs The Brawling Burtes.  Before the match, McIntyre was legit down bad and horned up to a level so high, it's literally over 9000.  The Butch led his brufs to victory via a bitter end to Xavier Woods. Cool.  Max Dupri is going to reveal his first client for his modelling agency. Okay?  Jinder Mahal vs Humberto.  I know it's been a while but man WWE loves first names. I bet they saw the name "Gus" and said, "Now that's a bada** name".  Shanky's dancing worked for Jinder Mahal as the modern may Maharaja won the match. Will see if his dancing will lead to another WWE title win……… oh wait.  Madcap Moss Gave Baron Corbin A BEATING.  Moss was like, "I AIN'T MID NO MORE, CORBIN".  Shayna Baszler vs Natalya vs Aliyah vs Raquel Rodriguez vs Shotzi vs Xia Li.  Hey, look. Here's a name I've not seen since the industrial revo...

WWE Smackdown 27/5/22 | A Coherent Review.

Yes, people. Hell In A Cell is next Sunday (or Monday morning in my case) and this has been the least memorable build of a PPV I've ever covered.  The question is, was this episode of Smackdown also the least memorable? I mean, yea.  Shinsuke Nakamura And Riddle Go Against The Usos.  Yea, the two guys that lost their tag partners due to injury are challenging The Usos for the unified tag belts and based on the brawl, it looks like Riddle and Nakamura will be facing The Usos which I don't mind. I mean, I did, unfortunately, see someone f**k a corpse.   Ronda Rousey vs Raquel Rodriguez. The match ended via a DQ due to Shayna Baszler and Natalya's attack on both competitors which led to a tag team match.  Ah. The classic "singles match turned into a tag match". And guess who won? Rousey and Rodriguez. You know what that means?  You're probably going to see the match between Raquel Rodriguez and Rona Rousey again and again and again (sprinkle in a he...

WWE Smackdown 20/5/22 | A Coherent Review.

Regarding the whole Naomi and Sasha Banks situation, WWE has (on top of saying that Banks and Naomi have disappointed the fans to which I say, "FACK OFF, WILL YA?!") relinquished the women's tag belts and they're going to have a tournament to which I say, "WHAT F**KING TEAMS!?" WWE has more women's tag teams than Arsenal has champions league titles.  As far as how I feel about the show, it was really mediocre, to say the least.   Roman Reigns Hypes Up The Usos In Purse Of The Tag Title Unification Match.  I'm just going to describe the main event match since it was pretty darn short. The Usos did just defeat RKBRO to win the red belts which led to a beatdown from the Bloodline to RKBRO.  While the 6 man match at Backlash was, dare I say, a match of the year candidate, this one was just too uneventful due to the sudden end of an okay match that could've been MUCH better.  Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn.  I once remember that they had a match of th...

WWE Smackdown 6/5/22 | A Coherent Review

Yes, Wrestlemania Backlash is tomorrow and I couldn't care less about the show besides two guys battling out on who has the better suit game, Cody or Seth?  And the episode reflected that in my humble opinion.  A Ronda Rousey And Charlotte Flair Brawl.  Headline once again doing God's work right now. I mean, at least Charlotte didn't do the typical heel thing and ran away from a fight, right?  Shayna Baszler vs Sasha Banks.  In my opinion, a Wrestlemania worthy match had Shayna Baszler been booked better on TV.  After Sasha Banks defeated Shayna Baszler, Baszler and Nattie unsuccessfully attempted a beatdown on Banks and Naomi since the tag champs retaliated quickly with a double eat defeat to Natalya. Coolinos.  Midcap Moss' Sad Attempt At Stand Up Comedy, You Know, Like Dave Chappelle.  BOOM. GOT EM. Gunther vs Drew Gulak.  The "USA" chants aka the only time Drew Gulak actually got over accidentally. Slim fit Gunther wins with a powe...

WWE Smackdown 22/4/22 | A Coherent Review.

A beat the clock challenge was announced for next week's show involving Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair which only means one thing.  Wishing that I have a beat the clock challenge to check how long I can last watching mediocre television programming like this.  Ronda Rousey And Charlotte Flair's Contract Signing Ended In Chaos Because Of Course, It Did.  Headline's been spitting facts as of late. Also, my man Drew Gulak has been a punching bag for this feud and I feel sorry for the guy. A dude as talented as him deserves so much better.  Xavier Woods vs Butch.  A match so predictable, my autocorrect filled in the "Xavier Woods vs Butch" headline.  After the former Dune lost to Woods once again, he went ed unhinged as he took out a bunch of security guards. I mean, I would too if I was called Butch every week.  Ricochet got his challenge for his IC title. The same title that hasn't been defended on PPV since last year's WrestleMania.  That challen...

WWE Smackdown After Wrestlemania 38 | A Coherent Review

Smackdown after Wrestlemania 38 was really, really, really skippable. Nothing noteworthy happened which unfortunately is the standard of all Smackdown after Wrestlemania episodes.  Ronda Wanted A Rematch For The Blue Women's Belt In An I Quit Match At The Backlash Of Wrestlemania.  Headline once again doing the lord's work by describing the entire segment. If you've watched Wrestlemania then this isn't surprising given how the match ended.  Also, a black woman making a Susan tap out? I'm all for it.  Xavier Woods vs Butch.  Remember when Xavier Woods was once called "King Woods" because he won The King Of The Ring tournament? No? Well, so did WWE apparently.  Nevertheless, the match was prettay good. After the Butcha bruf lost to Woods via an inside cradle, he decided to have a bit of a scuffle with Ridge Holland and Sheamus.  Maybe this is the way to bring back the Peter Dune we know and love? Highly doubt that but I'm praying to Allah that it ...

WWE Smackdown 1/4/22 | A Coherent Review

We're just hours before Wrestlemania aka the show that I had the same amount of anticipation as the new Morbius movie.  How did the blue brand pull off this week? Well, more people on my Twitter timeline (@omartheplayaguy press z follow me) were talking about Samoa Joe's return at ROH's latest PPV than this episode so that should tell you everything.  Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.  For the second time in a row, the battle royal happened on an episode of Smackdown and not on the pre-show, which I'm happy about because the last thing I wanna see is watching a meaningless match at 5 am in the morning. Anything that saves time is an automatic positive in my book.  Midcap Moss won the entire thing. I don't even remember who won last year's match so I'll probably forget about it in a day or so.  Speaking of which, later in the show, Drew McIntyre showed up during the Happy Corbin talk show segment and proceeded to destroy everything on sight using his swo...

WWE Smackdown 4/3/22 | A Coherent Review.

Ronda Rousey made her Smackdown in-ring debut which is insane to think about. The fact that they actually maintained the integrity of the brand split.  How was the show this week? Like all of their programming as of late, it was aight.  Naomi vs Carmella.  This was meh. The so-called "most beautiful woman in all of WWE" lost with a moonsault to Naomi.  Not gonna lie, seeing both Naomi and Sasha Banks in the tag team sphere feels not only a random arc to book but it's also a creative demotion since they're capable of so much more.  Drew McIntyre vs Jinder Mahal.  Aka a match that they definitely thought about as their WWE championship match at last year's WrestleMania.  One former WWE champion delivered the claymore to another former WWE champion which led to Drew's victory. Coolinos.  The Viking Raiders vs The Usos For The Smackdown Tag Team Championship.  A pretty good tag team match, playas! The raiding guys were about to walk out of this e...

WWE Smackdown 11/2/22 | A Coherent Review.

Other than the women's championship match, this episode (as per usual) didn't do it much for ya boy.  White Ally, Vince McMahon CANCELS Sonya Deville.  Vince McMahon is protecting black women by declining not only Sonya's fine over Ronda Rousey but also ordering the WWE official to not interfere in the Smackdown women's championship bout between Naomi and Charlotte Flair.  Unfortunately, Vinnie Mac didn't say those words in person as he told Adam Pearce to read his statement but you read the title, he's still a white ally to me DAMN IT!  The New Day vs Los Lotharios.  Big E and Kofi Kingston going back to their old ways just don't feel right. We all had high hopes for the big man but WWE loves to kill momentum like a slasher horror movie.  At least the tag match was actually good. Los Lotharios picked up the W with a roll-up from Angel to Kofi Kingston.  Roman Reigns said during an interview with Michael Cole regarding Goldberg's WCW undefeated streak ...

WWE Smackdown 4/2/22 | A Coherent Review.

Gotta be honest guys, this episode didn't do it for me.  Besides the announcement of Ronda Rousey challenging Charlotte Flair for the blue women's belt at Wrestlemania as well as another challenge proposed by Goldberg aka NoBerg to the tribal chief, this, like last week's show, was as skippable as an anime filler episode.  Paul Heyman Was Like, "F**k That Brock Guy!"  Brock and Paul legit need some counselling because they've broken up and reunited together like my relationship with the Call of Duty franchise. To quote Gordon Ramsey, "DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!"  All lame banter aside, Paul Heyman's promos before Goldberg's appearance was the only good thing throughout the entire show.  As far as how I feel about the idea of Goldberg facing Roman Reigns at the upcoming Elimination Chamber show, major Ls on this one.   Ricochet vs Ridge Holland.  Yay, the "one on one match that later turned into a tag match" cliche. The difference is t...

WWE Smackdown 28/1/22 | A Coherent Review.

Smackdown before the 2022 Royal Rumble was pretty f*king skippable. Nothing too major happened which is, unfortunately, to be expected these days.  Images via WWE.com   Legit Royal Rumble Winner!?  At least that's what the entire opening scene implied based on Sasha Banks standing tall in the end after the likes of Aliyah, Natalya, "holy sh*t, Aliyah is getting more of a push than I do" Shayna Baszler and "I'm still here" Shotzi.  I guess the ending was one big stan fan cam so that's cool, I guess.  Ricochet And Cesaro vs Sheamus And Ridge Holland.  Yay! A rematch from the Day One show. The big bruf pinned the Swiss superman to win the tag team bout. Coolirnos.  Naomi vs Sonya Deville.  Oh, my pog of all pogs. This was a fun encounter. I guess the groundhog day of wrestling segments benefited in the end? Not really.  After the glow queen defeated a certified Susan, Sonya Deville, the current WWE official decided to include herself in the wome...

WWE Smackdown 21/1/22 | A Coherent Review.

Another week, another time Pat McAfee shows me why he's better than Corey Graves. Both in the ring AND on the commentary table.  As far as how I feel about this week's episode, it ain't good, people. It ain't good.  An Image via WWE.com   Sethy Mane Wanted A Tag Partner So….………. That he faces The Usos later in the show and if drippy Jesus wins, 2 out of 3 members of the Bloodline are barred off ringside in the blue title encounter (in case you were wondering, Kevin Owens was Seth's tag partner).  BUTTTTTTTTTTTT! The tribal chief had other ideas. He proposed a pitch where if the "burn it down" man loses the tag match, the Rumble match is gone, FINITO!  Bully Ray probably saw Seth Rollins' uttering Jox Moxley's name and reacted, "HOW DARE YOU!! BLASPHEMY!"  Fortunately for SR The Drip Mane, he got what he wanted via a DQ finish thanks to a superman punch from Roman Reigns. While the ending did protect the tag champs, the consequences of i...

WWE Smackdown 14/1/22 | A Coherent Review.

WOAH, WOOOOOAH *Insert drums* BURN IT DOWN *insert more drums* Don't know why I just quoted Seth Rollins' theme song. Probably because I'm bored and have nothing else better to do on a Saturday afternoon (which explains the Smackdown review).  Now, how was the show? It was aight.  The Viking Raiders vs Angel And Humberto Carrillo vs Jinder Mahal And Shank vs Mansoor And Cesaro. Winner Gets A Blue Tag Belt Opportunity.  The best part about all of this was The Usos introduction of all 4 members. Gotta say, they're pretty natural at this and wouldn't mind them doing ring announcing full time.  The only thing they should avoid is threatening somebody with WWE lawyers.  The Viking Raiders won the whole thing and all I can say is, finally! No more Viking Raiders vs Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss matches.  Why WWE Be Messing With Sami Like That!?  That "InZayn" stunt show is sad to watch. He should've been doing so much better than trying to do knockoff Jacka**...

WWE Smackdown 7/1/22 | A Coherent Review.

Are you ready for a GOOOOOOOOD time!" Well, not really since I found out about my workin…….. I mean productivity schedule.  Enough about my sad adult life, how was Smackdown this week? It was surprisingly enjoyable considering how mediocre Smackdown has been as of late.  Images via WWE.com Brick Laser Beam Approach The Tribal Chief For A Title VS Title Match.  And the universal champion was like, "We'll do this my time" aka it's happening.  The Brook man questioned the way Heyman praised the blue champ which led to a superman punch from Roman to the WWE champion.  I don't hate this idea. Bring it on, I guess?  Rick Boogs vs Sami Zayn.  You know Zayn has been underutilized when he got a jobber entrance. Rick wins the match. Oh, and Johnny Knoxville threw Sami over the top rope. Again, WHO!?  Charlotte Flair Show Us The Participants For This Year's Women's Royal Rumble Match.  I can't believe WWE did this. Summer Rae is coming back and all I ca...

WWE Smackdown 17/12/21 | A Coherent Review.

Another week, another meh episode of Smackdown although the ending was pretty eye-opening.  Images via WWE.com   The Viking Raiders vs Jinder Mahal And Shanky.  After a backstage segment that included The Usos roasting Xavier Woods' kingship, the blue brand really started the show with a match (not this one) which is a rare thing to see on main roster television. And the match wasn't bad at all.  The Viking Raider defeated the team of Jinder and Shanky with a splash from Ivor. Does everyone want a Happy Corbin segment? Well, no and Drew McIntyre agrees as he took out Corbin and Madcap Moss to retrieve his sword which sounds like a bad King Arthur comedy flick or something.  Naomi Wants A Match With Sonya Deville.  Naomi is upset at how Sonya Deville acted like a Susan over the past few months so the glow queen challenged the actual manager to a match at Day 1 and Sonya was like, "Ahhhh, no".  Naomi then had a match with Shayna Baszler and within minute...

WWE Smackdown 10/12/21 | A Coherent Review.

Yet another meaningless episode of Smackdown. That’s it. That’s the intro.  Images via WWE.com   Brook Laser Beam Still Beats Up Arab Alan Moore.  I'm just going to have my unfunny but insightful headlines describe wrestling segments huh (at the very least, I'm hoping this made Fightful's Jeremy Lambert proud)?  All lame banter aside, this build for the universal championship is an eh so far. At least the segment featured hot nurses.  Shinsuke Nakamura And Rick Boogs vs Los Lotharios.  My man, Shinsuke Nakamura might as well be called the Intercontinental championship belt collector because he hasn't done jack with it.  The title has been defended so little, Brock Lesnar would be jealous due to the fact that he's been aiming at the wrong championship the whole damn time!  I was hoping for a Los Lotharios win but that didn't happen as Shinsuke pinned Humberto Carrillo after delivering the Kinshasa.  King Xavier Woods has unveiled his new crown...
