Royal Rumble 2022. Sponsored by a Logic song from 9 years ago, you know, before his corny arc.  It's my 4th year reviewing the annual Royal Rumble show and so, a question you may be wondering (you weren't but for the sake of it), how does this PP…….excuse me, premium live event hold up compared to the recent Royal Rumble shows?  It was just kinda there. Other than the opening contest, the program didn't do much for me.  Images via WWE.com Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins For The Universal Championship.  What a way to kick this PLE (doesn't have a ring to it) with this absolute banging of bangers.  While yes, the bout ended via a DQ due to Roman Reigns still locking on the guillotine, the context of the story being told with Rollins wearing the Shield attire and the way the former universal champion disrespected the current universal champion last night, made a whole lot of sense.  In other words, I thought the entire thing was f**king brilliant storytelling if ...

I know it's something you've heard a gazillion times but it's true.  We are on the road to Wrestlemania which is f'ing crazy to think about.  While this year's Royal Rumble PPV had its moments, the show as a whole was just fine.  By the way, the show was almost 4 hours but it felt like 2.  As usual, I can't talk about the women's tag team title match at the pre-show simply because I've not seen it.  Images via WWE.com Drew McIntyre vs Goldberg For The WWE Championship.  When Goldberg hits the jackhammer, I almost had a heart attack but thank God the Scotsmen kicked out.   Oh, and Drew McIntyre won the match in a meh opening match that was shorter than the Immortals Fenix Rising demo (the most specific reference I've ever made).  They showed some respect after the match.  At least Drew McIntyre won, right?  Sasha Banks vs Carmella For The SmackDown Women's Championship.  Carmella almost killed herself with that sick looking suic...

via WWE First off, rest in peace to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. I'm not the biggest fan of basketball but I do recognize his impact in the sport and how he puts out a show like no other. It is a devastating day indeed.  My friends over at Daily DDT tweeted about this whole thing best especially as a wrestling fan going into the biggest pro wrestling show of the year. Wrestling can be the greatest escape sometimes, and tonight is one of those nights where many of us need an escape. So I hope everyone enjoys tonight's Rumble. Royal Rumble 2019. Was it all that good? The answer is nope. Wasn't awful, it just made some booking mistakes or as I like it to call it, They've made some booking holes (this joke is as clever as WWE's booking these days). Without further ado, on with the review.   PRESHOW: Rusev vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship.  The match itself was decent but Nakamura’s win made Rusev’s title reign a complete waste of air time at this point. Like why Rusev capture the US title only for a month later for Nakamura to get the championship right back? Makes no sense to me.  Speaking of a complete waste of time. The creative team decided to pair Scott Dawson and Rezar (because Akam got injured and recently had knee surgery) to face Bobby Roode and Chad Gable for the RAW tag team championship only for Dawson and Rezar to lose the match.
