WWE Smackdown 30/10/20 | A Coherent Review.

Happy Halloween and I, as usual, didn't dress up because why not, right?  Now, how was Smackdown? It was pretty decent but this ain't a WWE show without one bad segment.  Images via WWE.com Roman Reigns Tells Jey Uso To Fall In Line.  Jey Uso passionately told his cousin that he ain't falling in line for Roman Reigns.  Reigns, however, calmly told Jey that all of the family is behind him and if he didn't join him then Jey is out of the family.   Jey then shouts, "I hate you! Why you gotta do me like that, man?"  Roman Reigns is so good playing a f'ing d**k especially when he didn't sympathize as to what Jey was going through in this scene.  This segment was shorter than I expected to be honest. Nevertheless, I loved it.  Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler. Smackdown Survivor Series Team Qualifying Match.  It's Survivor Series time which means it's red vs blue for "brand supremacy".  Why does Survivor Series have to be about "brand supr

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Halloween Havoc Is Fantastic. Inner Circle Town Hall Was Meh.

The black and gold brand just made a come back this week thanks to their Halloween Havoc themed episode.  NXT delivered this morning (last night your time) with unique matches and moments that filled those 2 hours pretty well in my opinion.  (Shotzi Blackheart was an awesome host, by the way).  For that, I gotta go with NXT. AEW Dynamite, however, was okay.  Nothing too mind-blowing happened besides a great main event.  some images via WWE.com NXT    Highlights. Damian Priest vs Johnny Gargano For The North American Championship. Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal.  During Johnny Gargano's entrance, he destroyed the inflatable pumpkin on the entrance stage area. No heart and soul indeed. Johnny, you monster.  Thanks to the wheel, the match was a devil's playground match which is pretty much a falls count anywhere match.  Side note, loved the Sting inspired gear from Damian Priest. Do you know what I also loved?  When Gargano got spooked after opening a casket that included a skeleto

The 5 New Week's 2nd Anniversary And What I've Learned From Writing About News.

WHAT? A second 5 News Week article of the week? Preposterous.  The reason why I'm writing this is that 2 years ago to this day, October 28th 2018 was the inaugural 5 News Week piece.  I thought to celebrate this day, I want to share to all of the young, aspiring news writers what I've learned from the 2 years I've been writing pro wrestling news  (which has mostly been WWE news because let's be real, I am the resident WWE shill).  Here we go.  Stock images via pexels.com #1: Research And Fact-Checking.  When approaching a piece of news that comes to your news feed, it is important to research the news piece itself so that you're giving the viewer/reader a context as to what's happening.  Which is why your favourite talk show programs like Last Week Tonight, values their research team to analyze the world around them and what can be done through history.  Another reason as to why research is valuable for information is, of course, fact-checking.  Sticking to the

WWE Hell In A Cell 2020 | A Coherent Review.

WWE is continuing the streak of shorter PPVs and as a guy that lives overseas, I don't mind WWE doing this even if the fans come back to arenas.   Also, The 2020 edition of Hell In A Cell had a decisive and conclusive ending. Yayyyyyy!  The show itself was okay but it did have its moments, to say the least.  pictures via WWE.com Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso. Hell In A Cell I Quit Match.  I gotta say.  It is so weird to hear boos that WWE adds in the background for Roman Reigns given the history they've had in altering actual boos from the crowd many years ago.  It is also weird for WWE to open this show with a match that main evented the previous PPV. The question is, was it worth it? Heck yeah, dude.  Both men hit each other's finishers not once but twice and it wasn't enough for Reigns and Jey Uso to quit.  At one point, the match was turned into a strap match of some sort because Roman and Jey tied themselves with that strap. Jey used the strap to knock out the big dog bu

The 5 News Week: An NXT Segment Getting Some Backstage Praise!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.  some pictures via WWE.com Stephanie McMahon One Of The Best Heels In The Attitude Era? Jim Ross Thinks So.  Jimmy Ross recently talked about the role Stephanie McMahon and whether she was "one of the best heels we had in the attitude era" (from sescoops ):  “I always believe she was one of the best heels that we had in the Attitude Era. Because she took so much after her dad.” Stephanie played as the spoiled rich daughter of an a*h*ole boss and that is a dish of easy heel heat.  Stephanie McMahon's spoiled brat type of heel moulded well with a vicious, opportunist of a bad guy that Triple H portrayed as during the era of the McMahon/Hemsley faction.  Without her constant presence on TV, A piece of Triple H's persona especially in the year 2000, would be

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: So. A Musical Happened Between Chris Jericho And MJF, Pat McAfee Is Back!

If this was a match between AEW Dynamite and NXT, it ended with a squash.  Because AEW Dynamite DESTROYED NXT this week with an absolutely fantastic episode.  That is not to say that NXT was a terrible show. It was not. But, comparing it to AEW Dynamite, it has no competition.  some pictures via wwe.com NXT   Highlights. Legado De La Fantasma vs Isiah Swerve Scott, Ashanti Adonis And Jake Atlas.  This entire bout was very impressive. I swear to God, Isiah Swerve Scott is so f'ing good. Give the guy ALL the titles if you have to.  Joaquin Wilde did a dive and Atlas turned it into a Spanish fly that made both men land onto all the participants in the match.  The encounter ended with of course a win from Legado De La Fantasma.  Killian Dain Loves The Mean Streak From Drake Maverick.  The odd duo got to face Ever-Rise again but the match ended via a DQ because Drake used the chair to hit on both members of Ever-Rise.  Like what the title said, Killian Dain loved it. Do you know what I

WWE RAW Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

Monday Night RAW got a new intro and it's fantastic not gonna lie.  Shout out to NF for that absolute club BANGER of a song.  I can already hear the rage from people just because it isn't a rock song.  How was the "season premiere" of Monday Night RAW?  It was not good. As a matter of opinion, it was a baddddd show.  I can tell from watching this that Vince McMahon tore up the script AGAIN and wrote the entire thing moments before the show goes on the air.  It's like if a movie was about to start shooting only for the director to tear up the entire thing and write it from the ground up.   pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Monday Night RAW Kicked Off With……….. Alexa Bliss calling out The Fiend, Bray Wyatt. Just as Bliss had a blank stare, Out came The Fiend.  The Fiend and Bliss were interrupted by Retribution.  Bray Wyatt and Alexa Bliss disappeared after Retribution tried to attack them.  The Hurt Business has some unfinished business with Retribution a
