The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: So. A Musical Happened Between Chris Jericho And MJF, Pat McAfee Is Back!

If this was a match between AEW Dynamite and NXT, it ended with a squash.

Because AEW Dynamite DESTROYED NXT this week with an absolutely fantastic episode.

That is not to say that NXT was a terrible show. It was not. But, comparing it to AEW Dynamite, it has no competition.

NXT

Highlights.

Legado De La Fantasma vs Isiah Swerve Scott, Ashanti Adonis And Jake Atlas.

This entire bout was very impressive. I swear to God, Isiah Swerve Scott is so f'ing good. Give the guy ALL the titles if you have to.

Joaquin Wilde did a dive and Atlas turned it into a Spanish fly that made both men land onto all the participants in the match.

The encounter ended with of course a win from Legado De La Fantasma.

Killian Dain Loves The Mean Streak From Drake Maverick.

The odd duo got to face Ever-Rise again but the match ended via a DQ because Drake used the chair to hit on both members of Ever-Rise.

Like what the title said, Killian Dain loved it. Do you know what I love? This storyline.

Probably the best thing NXT has got going on right now.

Breezango vs Oney Lorcan And Danny Burch For The NXT Tag Team Championship.

Long story short, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish were supposed to face Breezango but they were both mysteriously attacked.

Kylie O'Reilly was ready to go but he gave the title opportunity to Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.

At the end of the match, some guy with a hoodie nailed a right on Fandango.

As the ref got distracted, Danny Burch kicked Tyler Breeze right in the balls and they nailed their finisher on Breeze to become the new NXT tag team champions.

That guy with a hoodie was revealed as Pat McAfee.

Oh my God, this feud with Pat McAfee and The Undisputed Era is continuing.

Not gonna lie, I didn't expect Pat McAfee as the mastermind behind the attacks of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong.

Also, Burch and Lorcan are bad guys now. The tag team division has enough babyfaces and I don't mind it.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Kushida defeated Tommaso Ciampa And Velveteen Dream - By the way, Ciampa was vicious throughout the match which isn't surprising given that he's known as "the psycho killer".

The striking man from Japan won the bout with a German suplex to Ciampa.

Ember Moon Won Her First Singles Match Since September 2019 - Moon won it due to locked a submission that Mauro Ranallo probably knows.

Dakota Kai attacked Ember from behind. The opponent Ember faced, Jessi Kamea, was really impressive in the match.

Bronson Beat Austin Theory Not Once But Twice - One was a Samoan drop and the other was a Samoan drop. In a backstage interview, Austin said that he's "done".

Austin has been losing a lot and I don't know where they're going with this.

I'm hoping NXT isn't going to build him as a sympathetic babyface because of his losses. The dude screams a heel.

Johnny Gargano Hates Spinning The Wheel But Candice Doesn't - Why?

Because whether they spun the made up wheel in preparation for Halloween Havoc, Johnny got some terrible luck like a buried alive match and a casket match.

LeRae however, got a trick or street fight match. Meh.

Xia Li Had Enough - Xia lost her match to Kacy Catanzaro to which she attacked Kacy and her tag mate, Kayden Carter.

Raquel Gonzalez from outta nowhere, took out Carter, Catanzaro and Li.

Gonzalez then cut a promo saying that she's Rhea Ripley's worst nightmare.

It was aight.

Timothy Thatcher's Live Thatch Camp - After Timothy showed his demonstrations to Anthony or as Timothy called him, Andrew, the student attacked the submission expert because he didn't like Thatcher's teachings.

So, a match happened between those two men and guess who won?

I did laugh when the crowd started to chant Andrew after he attacked Thatcher.

AEW

Highlights.

Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston Video Promos Going Into Full Gear.

Eddie Kingston called out the person (Moxley) that has been part of an establishment, thinking that he sold out.

Mox says otherwise, telling that he used his wealth to buy his mother a house and never forgot where he came from.

This is the best I've seen Eddie Kingston in his short tenure with all elite wrestling. Both men nailed it with their promos.

Pentagon vs Rey Fenix. The AEW World Championship Number One Contender's Tournament.

Rey Fenix doing some Lucha things with fantastic manoeuvres like the Spanish fly and some dives on the outside.

Fortunately for the luchador, Fenix won the match with a roll-up. A good, good, good bout.

Hangman Page vs Colt Cabana In The AEW World Championship Number One Contender's Tournament.

This is surprisingly a hard-hitting match and it somehow fits.

Cabana does a unique pinning combination with a splash into a bridge using the legs.

The match concluded with a clothesline and that's how the cowboy advances in the tournament.

So. A Musical Happened Between Chris Jericho And MJF.

I am not the biggest fan of musicals (with the exception of the greatest showman).

However, I got a big kick out of this scene. This is so out of AEW's "sports like presentation" that it is honestly commendable because of how brilliant the segment was.

AEW is doing more "sports entertainment" than WWE as of late.

By far, the most creative thing AEW has produced since that sitcom-like ending a few weeks ago.

The Young Bucks Won Their Match Against Private Party, The Dark Order In Alex Reynolds And Alex Reynolds, Butcher And The Blade And Will Face FTR For The AEW World Tag Team Championship.

The ending was fantastic. FTR attacked Matt Jackson's leg pretty much-taking aim at the Young Bucks' greatest asset.

Smart move by the tag team champions.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Wardlow Defeated Jungle Boy In The AEW World Championship Number One Contender's Tournament - Part of me believes that Wardlow shouldn't be in this tournament just because he doesn't need to be in this tournament and the fact that there's no way that he loses.

If he does lose then that is a bad idea. You gotta keep the guy undefeated for a while.

Kenny Omega defeated Sonny Kiss Quickly In The AEW World Championship Number One Contender's Tournament - If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time that The Wrestling Observer Newsletter got a mention on major pro wrestling television.

Nevertheless, the match really disappointed me because those two men can deliver a good match and instead, it was a squash.

The FTW Crew Wants An Answer From Will Hobbs - FTW went on to say that Ricky Starks deserves more opportunities than Darby Allin because he's won 9 out of the 10 last matches.

This was okay.

Starks pulling out a Darby Allin Impression again would've been cool but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Britt Baker Defeated Kilynn King - Nothing special happened in this.

The question is, what are some of the highlights of both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, I gotta get some sleep so stay safe smarks.

WWE Smackdown 4/2/22 | A Coherent Review.

Gotta be honest guys, this episode didn't do it for me.  Besides the announcement of Ronda Rousey challenging Charlotte Flair for the blue women's belt at Wrestlemania as well as another challenge proposed by Goldberg aka NoBerg to the tribal chief, this, like last week's show, was as skippable as an anime filler episode.  Paul Heyman Was Like, "F**k That Brock Guy!"  Brock and Paul legit need some counselling because they've broken up and reunited together like my relationship with the Call of Duty franchise. To quote Gordon Ramsey, "DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!"  All lame banter aside, Paul Heyman's promos before Goldberg's appearance was the only good thing throughout the entire show.  As far as how I feel about the idea of Goldberg facing Roman Reigns at the upcoming Elimination Chamber show, major Ls on this one.   Ricochet vs Ridge Holland.  Yay, the "one on one match that later turned into a tag match" cliche. The difference is t...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...
