The "So Bad, It's Good" Matches To Watch.

Guilty pleasures. We all have em. Consuming your favourite guilty pleasure content is so God damn satisfying.  And pro wrestling is of course, no different.  The upcoming matches that I talk about are matches that are not in the 5 stars conversations but rather are so bad that it's good.  (by the way, the list is in no particular order).  Let's have some fun, shall we?  Images via wwe.com #4. The Shield In Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and Kurt Angle vs Kane, Braun Strowman, The Miz And His MizTourage. WWE TLC 2017.  Y'all remember this gem? If not, all I can say is that it was an overbooked MESS like most main event matches in the Attitude Era and I ABSOLUTELY love every single second of it.  Braun Strowman being thrown into the garbage truck is a visual metaphor of how they've booked the guy years after this match took place.  This is a PERFECT match for Kurt Angle to be in and that's mainly because it hides his eventual dwindling in-ring style ...

A Guide On How To Improve Wrestling Criticism Vol.2

Last spring, I wrote an article about how to critique pro wrestling better aka "a guide on how to improve wrestling criticism" . I got some positive takes on it but the question is, why did I produce the second edition?  Well, you have to thank the awful videos and articles that I, unfortunately, consumed but at least, I wrote down some notes that contained the number of bad critiques that I was passionately blasted down on.  Like I mentioned in last year's piece, I am just an average fan that doesn't claim to be an expert in any form of criticism because YouTube will definitely give you the "I'm right, you're wrong" type of content.  This is just a learning process for not only the viewers reading this but myself as we all are trying to get better.  Without further explanation, let's guide you  to a better critique in wrestling (at least I hope so) numbra dos.  #1. Focusing Too Much On Logic (and no, I'm not talking abou...

Gail Kim As Women's Champion In 2003 Or Paige As Divas Champion In 2014? Who Had The Better Debut Reign?

Women’s wrestling in world wrestling entertainment. Believe it or not, it has been around for quite some time but it hasn’t been taken to the stratosphere by the powers that be until a few years ago. However, in one fateful time between 2002 and 2005, there was a small women’s division that although wasn’t as big as it is today, it was surprisingly competitive for the most part.  Meet Gail Kim. Before Gail joined WWE in October 2002, She started training at Ron Hutchison's wrestling school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada which had some notable alumni like Edge, Christian, Beth Phoenix, Tiger Ali Singh, Traci Brooks, Trish Stratus among others.  Gail Kim made her professional wrestling debut in late 2000 and she donned the persona of a masked luchadoras by the name of "La Felina" and wrestled all over the Southern Ontario area.  Kim started off her WWE career training in OVW and was called up to the main roster in 2003 (more specifically Monday Night RAW)...

A Guide On How To Improve Wrestling Criticism.

Now, before you all verbally eat me alive like a hippopotamus (yes hippos eat humans, look that up), understand that I’m just an average dude writing about pro wrestling and doesn’t claim to be an expert in anything and that includes professional wrestling (except cooking. I’m damn good at cooking).  However, what I’ve been discovering as a pro wrestling blogger for over a year is that there are some wrestling criticism out there that just make me wanna scratch my head to the point where my hands turn into an electric shaver if that makes sense. For instance, “Why is Ricochet’s trunks red instead of white?” or “Why’s Andrade wearing his Luchador mask for his entrance every week?”  In other words, they’re nitpicking and trust me I do that ALL THE TIME in my wrestling reviews. There’s nothing wrong with nitpicking certain things but the difference is that I acknowledge that I’m nitpicking and those guys clearly don’t.  There are fans out there on the interweb that b...

Shawn Micheals vs Ric Flair Wrestlemania 24 And Why I Love This Match.

With Fastlane 2019 over and done with ( click here to read my review for Fastlane 2019) and Wrestlemania 35 right around the corner, I wanna talk about my all-time favourite professional wrestling match and that is Shawn Michaels vs Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 24.  Before I get to talk about the match itself, I first have to talk about the build for this match. Let’s rewind the clock back to 2007. Ric Flair came back to RAW on November 26th from Smackdown! (remember when he was on Smackdown because I sure didn't) after a 3-month hiatus due to him entering into the political game in his home state of North Carolina, starting his own marketing company and pursued opportunities for investment.  In that segment, Ric Flair announced to the world that he will never retire because he loves this business so much. Out came Vince McMahon and the chairman of the board said that if Flair doesn't win a match then his career is over basically stating that Ric Flair i...

Reasons As To Why 2018 Is The Best Year For Women's Wrestling In WWE.

Professional Wrestling in 2018 like anything in life, has its ups and downs. But in my opinion, 2018 is best known for great women’s wrestling and I’m gonna tell you reasons as to why 2018 is the best year for women’s wrestling in WWE because that’s what I’m familiar with.  Reason #1: The Mae Young Classic 2. Although the inaugural Mae Young Classic was very good, the sequel was better than the original. That tournament was a joy to watch from top to bottom.  Michael Cole was actually tolerable on commentary, Rhea Ripley did a complete 180 with her persona but most importantly, the matches were simply amazing. I, unfortunately, didn’t review most of them but I did watch the rest of the tournament so that’s a plus.  Reason #2: The Women’s Royal Rumble Match and The Women’s Money In The Bank Match.   Back in the divas era, multi women’s matches were nothing more than the fan’s opportunity to go to the bathroom and even now, the battle royals at W...

Are Dirtsheets The Wrestling Version Of Tabloids?

A month ago, I was listening to the prince and the wolf podcast   with comedian Josh Wolf and actor/former WWE writer himself Freddie Prince Jr. In it, they had now seven-time women's champion Charlotte as their guest and she talked about life, how she got into professional wrestling but the most interesting part about this interview is that when Wolf asked: "what is dirtsheets?" Freddie replied by saying that it's basically tabloids. Is he wrong or is he right? Well, let's look at history.  Dirtsheets have spanned over 5 decades and it is still going strong to this very day and was given the name "Dirtsheets" to get "Inside dirt" in the wrestling business in a printed format or in a modern online site. Hence, the name dirtsheet.  The earliest form of dirtsheets was in the 60s where a woman by the name of Georgiann Makropoulos who herself started a monthly newsletter called "The Wrestling Chatterbox" after writing articles on wr...
