The 5 News Week: Retribution No More!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.   Some Images via WWE.com Retribution No More!?  If you've watched this week's Monday Night RAW (I don't blame you if you don't watch the show AT ALL), then you'll notice that the leader of Retribution, Mustafa Ali isn't too happy with the group's recent outcomes of their matches. This led to an increase of talks particularly from Cagesideseats as to whether the stable are no more.  Here's what the site had to say about it:  "The early speculation after Raw is that RETRIBUTION may indeed be heading for a split sooner rather than later" It's an obvious conclusion and to be honest, I'm all for it. It's about time that Mustafa Ali, Mia Yim, Dominic Djakovic are to quote Jason Derulo, "ridin solo".  However, take

WWE Smackdown 26/2/21 | A Coherent Review.

Hey guys. Smackdown was once again, really good.  Images via WWE.com Daniel Bryan Confronts Roman Reigns.  For what it feels like the millionth time, the blue brand started off with Roman Reigns which is admittedly, something that I'll never get tired of.  Reigns stated that his Elimination Chamber plan was executed perfectly until Edge speared the guy. Reigns warned Edge for some a**whopping.  Out came Daniel Bryan and he challenged him to a universal championship match fair and square at Fastlane. No shenanigans or a deeply layered plan.  Bryan's answer was a beatdown from Jey Uso.  A match that I thought was going to happen at Wrestlemania is happening in 3 weeks and I don't hate it.  Edge, however, wasn't a big fan of Daniel Bryan challenging Roman Reigns for the title, telling Adam Pearce that he had his chance at the Royal Rumble.  Rey And Dominik Mysterio vs Otis And Chad Gable.  This bout was good. I was baffled at this sudden heel turn from Otis last week but t

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Adam Cole Explains It All, Another Meh AEW Dynamite Episode.

What do I think of Big Show doing commentary for AEW? I don't hate it.  As far as how I feel about both shows this week, NXT without building a PPV is still better than AEW that is building for a PPV.  Images via WWE.com   NXT  Highlights.  Johnny Gargano vs Dexter Lumis. Dexter Lumis' in-ring work is like if I was watching Halloween and saw Michael Myers doing kip ups. Did I need to say that? Probably not but it was what it was.  I like this match. It was surprisingly competitive given the way (get it? The way?) Dexter Lumis was written.  Xia Li Continues To Dominate Again.   Yes, she's been beating pretty much the same set of people for weeks but I don't care. Xia Li hasn't looked more dominant than ever.  She's legit one of the best things on the show right now.  Karrion Kross vs Santos Escobar In A Street Fight.  I said in my previous that a match between Escobar and Kross is a potential dream match.  And for me, it exceeded. They BEAT THE HELL out of each o

WWE RAW 22/2/21 | A Late Coherent Review.

I'm happy to say that I liked this week's edition of Monday Night RAW for the most part which is something I've wanted to say for several months.  Images via WWE.com Miz TV. Special Guest, The WWE Championship Around Miz's Waist.  Yes, my friends. The Miz is the WWE champion like it's 2011 all over again.  Miz was glowing about his WWE title win. The Hurt Business in Bobby Lashley and MVP showed up to tell Miz that they mentioned a deal with him regarding a championship opportunity for Bob Lashley.  Bob Lashley then threatened the guy to give him an answer in an hour and that's how the opening segment ends.  This segment does something that is rare in WWE TV and that is, simple storytelling.  Every single time, WWE has overcomplicated their storytelling and it's quite frustrating at times.  It's nice to see a story playing out that uses a minimalistic storytelling device. An hour later, Braun Strowman got into the mix telling Adam Pearce and Shane McMaho

WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 | A Coherent Review.

The 2021 edition of the Elimination Chamber show was fine for what it was.  The only good thing about this show was the opening match and the rest was filled with mid type of matches.  And of course, I’ve not seen the pre-show match which was a number one contender’s bout for the United States championship.  Images via WWE.com. Kevin Owens vs Jey Uso vs Sami Zayn vs King Corbin vs Daniel Bryan vs Cesaro. An Elimination Chamber Match With The Winner Facing Roman Reigns Later In The Night.   It's really odd that WWE had to air a video about the SmackDown side of the Elimination Chamber AFTER Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, King and Jey Uso showed up.  Nevertheless, the match was fanfreakingtastic.  Cesaro and Daniel Bryan started off the Elimination Chamber Match and to quote Robert Roode's now old theme song, it was GLORIOUS!  Sami Zayn was talking mad sh*t however, Cesaro shit his a** up with his signature uppercut.   King Corbin delivered a chokeslam to Daniel Bryan aka "big man

The 5 News Week: MVP Injured!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.   Some images via WWE.com Quick Elimination Chamber 2021 Predictions.  Since this week's news is slower than that sloth in Zootopia, I wanted to showcase my quick predictions for 2021's Elimination Chamber PPV.  By the way, my predictions are highlighted in bold letters:  Bobby Lashley vs Keith Lee vs Riddle For The United States Championship (Update : Keith is apparently not on the PPV but my prediction is still the same).  Nia Jax And Shayna Baszler vs Sasha Banks And Bianca Belair For The Women's Tag Team Championship   (yes, they're going to pull off the John Cena and Shawn Michaels bit of winning the tag team championship during a championship built for Wrestlemania).  Drew McIntyre vs Sheamus vs AJ Styles vs Kofi Kingston vs Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orto

WWE Smackdown 19/2/21 | A Coherent Review.

Have you ever watched a show that is 2 hours long but it feels like 20 minutes?  Because that is how I felt when I watched this week's episode of Smackdown. What a good 2 hours of programming.  Images via WWE.com Does Edge Finally Choose His Championship Match At Wrestlemania!?  Well, he was about to until Roman Reigns showed and Edge talked some sense into the tribal chief.  Out came Sami Zayn and he was talking a LOT about being THE main event and the response he got was a superkick from Jey Uso.  The segment wasn't really noteworthy other than the fact that Edge is definitely THE opponent for Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania  (no f'ing sh*t, Omar). Apollo Crews vs Shinsuke Nakamura.  Apollo Crews and Shinsuke Nakamura? Now, THAT is a match right there.  Apollo was talking mad sh*t about how he's from Nigerian royalty and if Big E spoke to him like that to his family, his throat is cut.   Shinsuke won but Apollo Crews absolutely had enough. Crews attacked Big E and Nakamu
