The 5 News Week: Paul Heyman Was In Charge Of Goldberg's Promos!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately.  Today is Royal Rumble day so enjoy yourselves and hopefully, the booking isn't as scary as how Wrestlevotes described it.   Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.   some images via WWE.com An Update On The Revival Of Georgia Championship Wrestling.  If this news piece sounds familiar, it's because I talked about on the October 4th, 2020 edition of this very series.  To summarize it for all of you slow mofos, Georgia Championship Wrestling made its return and held its comeback show on October 3rd "as a test run" which was reported by my man, Andrew Thompson of Post Wrestling.  GCW is scheduling another show on April 24th which was announced on their Facebook page called "The Battle For Old Buckhead" and will take place in "a small lake community Buckhead" Georgia which is

WWE Smackdown 29/1/21 | A Coherent Review.

Smackdown was actually good outside of that horrendously written ending.  It's a shame too because that episode will be overshadowed and known for that ending.  Images via WWE.com   Daniel Bryan Shares His Enthusiasm For The Royal Rumble.  And yes, the opening segment didn't involve Roman Reigns but I ain't complaining.  During the scene, Bryan pointed out the fact that he hasn't won a Royal Rumble match which it's in his bucket list.  Out came AJ Styles from Monday Night RAW and why is he here?  It's because of the brand to brand invitational aka the least consequential thing about the brand split.  Styles mentioned his liking for ruining the superstars' Royal Rumble dreams.  Styles went on to challenge Bryan to a match later in the night and since Bryan is the good guy, he of course accepted.   This was a decent 5 or 10 or so minutes to open the episode.  Both opposite guys with opposite motivations as to why they'll win the men's Rumble match.  Ba

WWE RAW 27/1/21 | A Somewhat Coherent Review.

Another week, another uninspiring and mediocre episode of Monday Night RAW.  By the way, this took place in the go-home show of the f**king Royal Rumble of all shows.  Instead of doing a full-blown review, I'm going to write a half a** review for this half a** show because half a**ing Monday Night RAW is something WWE has mastered for quite some time.  Images via WWE.com This Women's Match.  Charlotte Flair faced Shayna Baszler that ended via a DQ (such an innovative finish) because of Nia Jax.  The good guys in Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke showed up to even the odds only for Lacey Evans to involve herself in this brawl.  You know what that means? A 6 woman tag team match.  This right here tells me why this show sucks off every bit of colour it needs to produce engaging stories.  It felt like the creative had nothing for them and instead went like, "let's play out our "singles match that turned into a tag team match" cliche."  Nobody was highlighted at the

The Sudden Popularity Of Pro Wrestling Podcasts.

There's no denying that podcasts have exploded in popularity within the past 5 years or so.  Over 155 million people have listened to a podcast while 104 million are listening to podcasts monthly according to the latest study from Infinite Dial . That’s in the US ALONE.  In other words, podcasts are the sh*t right now and pro wrestling is no exception when it comes to that audio realm.  There are many variables as to why podcasts are particularly popular in wrestling.  It is a way for the performers to engage with their audience, it is a way for people like myself that just wanna talk about wrestling because they’re bored, it is a way to be part of this industry, It’s easy content to produce and so many other factors.  I’m not a podcaster (I am as of December 12th) but I’ve asked some people about how pro wrestling podcasts have influenced their lives as well as the industry as a whole.  Frank Mandolini of The Last Minute Wrestling Podcast started his podcast last year in which he

Was this episode terrible? No, but that doesn't mean it was great either.  It was in the "meh" side of things.  Images via WWE.com Randy Orton WITH A LUCHADOR MASK!?  The episode started off with Randy Orton wearing a luchador mask because Bliss burned the dude's face last week.  Orton cut a promo about fire and the Royal Rumble match.  "Somebody give this man an Oscar", said Vince McMahon probably after seeing that segment. It was an okay segment.  Lacey Evans was defending her alliance with Ric Flair in an interview with Charly Caruso (Thank God, I didn't say "relationship" instead of alliance).  Charlotte Flair vs Peyton Royce.  Despite some shenanigans between Charlotte Flair, her father Ric and Lacey Evans, the queen won the match with the figure eight and didn't let go of the hold after the match ended.  This entire angle is a no for me, guys.  Bobby Lashley stomped on Riddle's leg.   If I'm not mistaken, I've never seen R

The 5 News Week: Monday Night RAW's Script From This Past Week Was Not Done!?

Welcome to the first edition of The 5 News Week of 2021. It's been a month and a half since I updated you guys with the 5 major or minor news of the week.  So, let's get into it, shall we?  Some images via  WWE.com Monday Night RAW's Script From This Past Week Was Not Done!?  This feels like the same old song we've been hearing for what it feels like an eternity.  From PWInsider and Mike Johnson , the script for this past week's episode of RAW wasn't done even after 7 pm Eastern time hit with only "outlines for hours two and three are (were) done".  The reason why the script wasn't finalized this time around?  Well, it was due to Drew McIntyre testing positive for Covid. McIntyre was supposed to be the main focus for that episode.  Honestly, the late writing for the episode didn't pay off because the show wasn't good, to say the least.  An Update Regarding The Upcoming AEW Video Game.  IGN Japan ( the translated version ) did an interview

WWE Smackdown 15/1/21 | A Coherent Review.

Smackdown was once again, an enjoyable 2 hours of television. I bet I blew your mind when I said that, right?  Something that blew MY mind (kind of) was the 40k OLED HDR 345000 FPS 120000 gigawatts camera they used and BOY, it was CRISPEEEE!  Images via WWE.com Jey Uso's Face To Face Confrontation With Shinsuke Nakamura.  The segment kicked off with Jey Uso's promo about his official declaration into the Royal Rumble match as well as Shinsuke Nakamura's performance last week at the Gauntlet match.  Out came Shinsuke Nakamura himself with his OG theme song which confirms that he's on the good side (no f'ing sh*t, Omar).  Nakamura  called Jey Uso a puppy for Roman Reigns. The king of strong style struck first which led to a match between both guys.  The match was prettay, prettay, pretty good. Shinsuke was distracted by Cesaro's music.  The reason why his music hit?  Well, the Swiss cyborg joined as a guest commentator and the commentators asked him a bunch of que
