WWE RAW 18/1/21 | A Coherent Review.

Was this episode terrible? No, but that doesn't mean it was great either.

It was in the "meh" side of things.

Randy Orton WITH A LUCHADOR MASK!?

The episode started off with Randy Orton wearing a luchador mask because Bliss burned the dude's face last week.

Orton cut a promo about fire and the Royal Rumble match.

"Somebody give this man an Oscar", said Vince McMahon probably after seeing that segment. It was an okay segment.

Lacey Evans was defending her alliance with Ric Flair in an interview with Charly Caruso (Thank God, I didn't say "relationship" instead of alliance).

Charlotte Flair vs Peyton Royce.

Despite some shenanigans between Charlotte Flair, her father Ric and Lacey Evans, the queen won the match with the figure eight and didn't let go of the hold after the match ended.

This entire angle is a no for me, guys.

Bobby Lashley stomped on Riddle's leg.

If I'm not mistaken, I've never seen Riddle pissed off like that.

Xavier Woods vs Mace.

"Bad, bad, bad, bad boy" oh wait, wrong Mace.

He actually won the match with a fireman's carry position into a sidewalk slam of some sort.

Sticking to Retribution for a bit. I'm intrigued by the story of Mustafa holding the grudge for not getting the "Kofimania" push.

Alexa Bliss' Playground. Special Guest, Asuka.

So. Bliss declared herself in the women's Royal Rumble match and Asuka was enthusiastic about it (no idea why).

Bliss was bothered by the way Asuka said, "yowie wowie" to the point where the raw women's champion was spooked.

Later in the night, the match happened between those two women and Bliss made Asuka look like the women's champion was beneath her.

Alexa Bliss turned from good Alexa to EVIL Alexa.

Because of her EVILness, Bliss won the match.

It looks like she's definitely winning the women's Royal Rumble match.

Jeff Jarret predicts that Bill Goldberg will win the WWE championship at the Royal Rumble.

I guess I have to disagree with ya, Double J.

Shayna Baszler vs Mandy Rose.

After Shayna won the match with the kirifuda clutch, tension was built between Baszler and Nia Jax.

But, Brooke pushed Nia Jax onto Baszler and ran away with Mandy Rose.

Whatever.

Ricochet vs AJ Styles.

Ricochet made a “50 First Dates” reference (yes, the one with Adam Sandler) to which AJ Styles not only gets the reference but he also puts that film in his top ten. He then used that reference to tell Styles that he has selective amnesia.

I don’t know if the WWE writIng team saw the movie or not but Drew Barrymore’s character had a car accident that got her anterograde amnesia aka NOT selective amnesia. It’s literally on the movie’s Wikipedia page!

The match itself was freaking awesome. That brainbuster from Styles was just *chef's kiss*.

AJ catches Ricochet from a springboard move into a styles clash to win the match. Another *chef's kiss* moment.

The Dirt Sheet. Special Guest, Goldberg.

Johnny Mundo and Mikey Mizanin introduced not Goldberg but rather Gillberg.

The way Gillberg said that he has to bust his head on the wall to bump himself made me laugh really loud.

The comedy continued as "Drew McIntyre" showed up and confronted Gillberg.

Miz then eluted that he'll cash in his Money In The Bank contract to become WWE champion.

I'm not a big fan of the way WWE handles comedy. However, I thought this segment was hilarious.

The guy that played Drew McIntyre was the star of the segment.

The Hurt Business vs Riddle And The Lucha House Party.

The miscommunications between Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin continued this week and I don't know where they're going with this.

However, The Hurt Business still came out of this match victorious.

Jeff Hardy vs Jaxson Ryker.

Ryker was talking about accepting the universal truth and I was like, "Woah, Woah, Woah".

Also, really? This match again?

It ended via a DQ because Elias pushed Jeff onto the ring apron and the ref saw it.

The miscommunications from Elias and Jaxson Ryker didn't stop Ryder from putting Hardy down.

What's with this show and miscommunications?

So,  to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Dirt Sheet segment, Ricochet vs AJ Styles.

Didn't like: The Lacey Evans, Ric and Charlotte Flair storyline, Jaxson Ryker vs Jeff Hardy.

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
