The 5 News Week: Quick Predictions On Wrestlemania: Backlash.

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor pro wrestling news, rumours and spoilers of the week that I don't have time to do it separately.  Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.   A Brief Thoughts On AEW Dynamite.  For the first time on this very series, I am going to briefly discuss my thoughts on AEW Dynamite and it was decent for the most part. I do have some perspectives on a few key things.  Most notably, that Cody Rhodes promo which by the way, was without exaggeration, one of the worst PROMOS I've ever witnessed as a 14 year veteran in the wrestling fandom.  The overall dialogue was an example of American imperialism and without a little or too much propaganda (while having the basic understanding of American imperialism), it exposed the very dated nature of the "America vs foreign heel" storyline.  Let's move on to the positives. Miro's booking in recent months has been exc...

WWE Smackdown 14/5/21 | A Coherent Review.

I want to start this review by saying rest in peace to former ECW star, New Jack.  As a VERY young wrestling fan, I first encountered the man's career around 5 years ago and what I've come from my initial rabbit hole of researching ECW was how he's brought literal brutality in his matches.  Vice's Dark Side Of The Ring highlighted an episode about New Jack last season which for some odd reason, if you've not seen the episode (or the doc series for that matter) then give it a watch.  Last week, the retro edition of Smackdown is a mix of the 80s and the 90s which feels like if a kid mixed in both time periods because "they're all old anyway".  And this week was just a regular themed episode of Smackdown.  What makes last week's and this week's episode similar is that they're both a decent 2-hour program.  Images via WWE.com   Roman Reigns Wanted Jimmy Uso To Face Cesaro.  Like pretty much all of the SmackDown episodes that happened for the pa...

WWE NXT 11/5/21 | A Coherent Review.

Hey, look. Another enjoyable 2 hours of professional wrestling television courtesy of the black and gold brand.  Images via WWE.com   Karrion Kross vs Austin Theory. Austin Theory showed off his impressive strength with that fall away.  Kross then pulled off multiple back suplexes followed by vicious forearm strikes on Austin's back neck area which led to Karrion locking in the Kross jacket to win the match.  This bout surprised me. I expected it to be a total squash but the yellow brand did a solid job on creating a coherent match (pun intended). Both guys were very profound in this exhibition.  After the match, Finn Balor challenged Karrion Kross to a title match and the champ agreed.  I enjoyed their first clash at Takeover: Stand And Deliver so I do not mind a rematch at all.  Msk vs Breezango. A decent showcase of Msk in what is an alright match.  Some banter was played from Msk's Nash Carter which I smiled for a bit, not gonna lie. Msk were ...

WWE RAW 10/5/21 | A Coherent Review.

It feels like an eternity since I reviewed a wrestling show and what better way to restart that journey than by talking about Monday Night RAW (that last sentence is clear sarcasm because "better way" and Monday Night RAW is an oxymoron at this point).  So, how was the visual Nyquil that was Monday Night RAW at least for this week? It's still a mediocre show but I didn't completely hate it (the keyword is "completely" guys).  Images via WWE.com Asuka, Mandy Rose And Dana Brooke vs Charlotte Flair, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.  A match that I've seen a gazillion times but the "difference" is that Charlotte Flair is in the mix with the bad guys instead of Rhea Ripley.  Alexa Bliss randomly showed up and controlled Shayna's leg as if Bliss had the powers of Magneto by controlling Shayna's iron in her blood or something.  Because of that, Asuka nailed a roundhouse kick to the queen of spades to win the match only for Asuka to take a kick fro...

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE NXT 4/5/21 | A Coherent Review.

It looks like the Divas era is back based on the time these women get in a wrestling match on the main roster as well as Eva Marie's return (huh? Wrong show? Oh, thank God!).  All lame jokes aside, this week's episode of NXT is apples to spaceships difference between this show and Monday Night BORE (I legit fell asleep while watching the show which is why I didn't post a RAW review yesterday).  Last week's episode wasn't great so it's awesome to witness an improvement.  Images via WWE.com   Leon Ruff vs Isiah Swerve Scott In A Falls Count Anywhere Match.  Leon took a nasty looking knee strike from Swerve Scott minutes into the match.   Swerve Scott delivered his finisher using the barricade and it isn't a surprise when I tell you that it was executed perfectly. Thanks to the debuting AJ Francis, Isiah Swerve Scott nailed his finisher to pick up the victory.  This opening encounter gave me Takeover vibes. In other words, the match was f**kin...
