WWE Smackdown 2/9/21 | A Coherent Review

Smackdown this week was nothing too special as per usual in recent weeks.

The Street Profits vs The Usos.

A match that should've been good but it ended so darn abruptly (via a DQ due to Jey Uso beating up Montez Ford even though Jey isn't the legal man in the match) that it gave me nothing but disappointment.

Do you know who's also disappointed? Roman Reigns and he wanted Heyman to bring his cousins.

Speaking of Paulie E Dangerously, the dude got a call from Brick Lacquer (with a ring tone that sounded like it came from a Nokia 2300 and not a Goddamn IPhone) and Heyman fearfully told Reigns that the "real man's man (Steve Regal reference)" is coming to MSG on next week's episode.

The plot is getting intriguing by the minute and I'm glad that they weren't shy about that given that Reigns for a week or so, had a program with Finn Balor.

Becky Lynch Doesn't Want To Face Bianca Belair Immediately.

Why? Because that's what heels do (assuming that she is considering that  Becky pulled a "not facing the contender until the champion says so" cliche and wanting nuanced characters in WWE is like asking Uwe Boll to make a good movie).

Ever since Becky has reappeared on TV, she just doesn't feel like the same rebellious esque character that we all know and love.

Becky is slowly turning into a generic heel that couldn't capture the essence of "The Man", ya know?

Oh and the champ will defend her title against Bianca Belair anyways at Extreme Rules so that's cool, I guess.

Rick Boogs vs Dolph Ziggler.

Before the match, Ziggler had a chat with Toni Storm and it felt like Dolph was trying to signalize a date with Toni. Nitpicking but why's Toni acting like " generic fangirl #1"? That's weird.

The match itself was okay. Ricky wins with the pump handle slam.

Seth Rollins vs Cesaro.

A decent match that ended with a disqualification due to my man Sethy using the chair hinge on Cesaro's mouth.

Who would've thought that Cesaro is positioned right back to where he was before his "sudden push"? The answer is, everybody.

Oh, and after that, Edge was like, "Imma beat the hell out of that honkey" (not his actual words but it sounds funny). All I can say is, I smell an Extreme Rules match!

Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn.

WWE does a better job of making me hate being a wrestling fan each week with rematches like this.

Based on the ending with Zayn winning the match once again, it looks like Dominik is going to turn on his father (no sh*t) and I'm hoping they approach the "father vs son" match differently because not all partnerships should end with bitterness.

Sonya Deville was ignoring Naomi once again. Please, let Naomi join the Bloodline!?

KO Show. Special Guest, Happy Corbin.

In this segment, you got the best heel right now and Baron Corbin.

Corbin attacked Owens and that's how the scene unfolded. Meh.

Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor For The Universal Championship.

A good match although I wished it would last just a bit longer. Reigns win with the guillotine. As the champion walked out of the ring, the lights turned red which was followed by the sound of a heartbeat.

Oh, shoot. It's demon time!

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor.

Didn't like: Becky Lynch slowly turning into a cliche heel (hoping it changes), why Dominik vs Sami Zayn again and why Toni Storm is acting like "generic fangirl #1"?

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
