The red brand this week was just okay. It wasn't as good as last week's edition but I didn't hate the show as a whole (except the RAW women's championship).
And yes, I did miss reviewing last week's show so apologies.
Randy Orton Verbally Brought Up The WWE Champion.
So, this program kicked off with, you guessed it, Randy Orton and he passionately says that the greats like The Rock and Steve Austin can't compare to his consistency and longevity in WWE.
He then, like the title tells, verbally brought up the WWE champion, Drew McIntyre and Orton challenged him for a match at SummerSlam for the prestigious title in the history of wrestling.
A great promo from the legend killer and honestly, anybody can see that match happening from kilometres away.
We got from one in-ring promo segment to another as Nia Jax mentions that she wants the RAW women's title.
Out came Shayna Baszler and she said to Jax's face that nobody cares what Jax wants.
That led to a brawl. Shayna's now a babyface? Don't know how to feel about this but I'll give this a chance.
Oh, and they had a match later in the night that ended via a count-out.
The Viking Raiders vs Angel Garza And Andrade vs Cedric Alexander And Ricochet. Winner Face The Street Profits For The RAW Women's Championship At SummerSlam.
The Street Profits did some ring announcing for all three teams which was aight.
Side note, I am not feeling anything great from The Street Profits ever since they moved to the red brand. The match itself was decent.
Ricochet suffered a thing called "dumb babyface syndrome" by trusting Andrade into fighting against one of the Viking Raiders (scroll down to read another "dumb babyface syndrome" moment).
Vega's clients in Andrade and Angel Garza won the match with the wind clipper to Cedric Alexander.
Ehhh. Honestly, I would've preferred Ricochet and Cedric Alexander win that match just because it's different.
We're pretty much getting a rematch from Wrestlemania but replace Austin Theory with Andrade.
Seth Rollins Wants Everyone To Stay Out Of His Way.
Rollins explains that the Monday Night messiah doesn't want to hurt people, believe or not but he has to because they stood in his way.
Seth begs Dominick to talk to him with no violence and how the young shouldn't have to fear anything.
Dominick went for the attack but Rey's kid took an absolute BEATING from Murphy and Seth Rollins.
As Bryon Saxton said on commentary, "thank god for Aleister Black" but it wasn't enough to put the duo down.
The disciple Murphy somehow with regret in his eyes, damaged one of the eyes of Aleister Black.
This segment lasted longer than it needed to be. Holy crap. Nevertheless, it was fine.
VIP Lounge. Special Guest, Mustafa Ali.
MVP wants to help his guest in Mustafa Ali for what reason? I have no idea but that's what manipulative heels do.
Mustafa Ali told Montel that he and his "little guys" put the hurt business out of business.
The host of the VIP Lounge warned Ali that he could either sit at home like Apollo Crews or join the hurt business. Obviously, the babyface chose none of the above.
Then, R Truth tried to pin Shelton Benjamin for the 24/7 champion but that failed.
Another meh segment like what's going on? We're building towards SummerSlam, not TLC!
Mustafa Ali vs Bobby Lashley.
During the match, Akira Tozawa failed a pin attempt to Shelton Benjamin just like R Truth minutes back (no sh*t, Omar).
Bobby Lashley caught Mustafa Ali for the Full Nelson submission and the dominant one won the bout.
I really like this match. Other than the women's championship, this was the best of the night.
Asuka vs Sasha Banks For The RAW Women's Championship. Count outs and disqualifications Count As A Decisive win.
Just like the match at Extreme Rules, the encounter was great. The ending sucked.
After Asuka was setting up the Asuka lock, she saw in the titantron the way Bayley beat up Kairi Sane so Asuka came to the rescue while the referee was counting to 10.
Because of that count-out win, Sasha Banks is the new RAW women's champion. A case of dumb babyface syndrome? I think sooooo.
This could open up to a rematch at SummerSlam but for now, I'm as soured as ever about this over-complicated type of ending that I just witnessed.
Murphy vs Humberto Carrillo.
An okay match. Murphy defeats Humberto Carrillo. Where was Carrillo in the Seth Rollins segment from earlier?
For weeks, he was involved in the Seth Rollins storyline and now, he's just missing in that segment for some reason. W. T. F.
Drew McIntyre vs Dolph Ziggler In An Extreme Rules Match.
There was an incredible spot where Drew put Dolph Ziggler through the barricade (that spot never gets old).
The match concluded with a claymore kick from Drew that made Dolph Ziggler go through a table.
That's how the Scotsmen won the match but the show ended with an RKO from outta nowhere.
I'm excited about this rivalry. The best heel on that program vs The best babyface on that program. Let's go.
So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.
Like: Asuka vs Sasha Banks (the action itself), Mustafa Ali vs Bobby Lashley, the opening segment.
Didn't like: Asuka vs Sasha Banks (the ending itself), a boring second hour for the most part, where's Humberto Carrillo in the Seth Rollins segment?
