The Late Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: The Build For NXT's In Your House PPV So Far Plus Some Double Or Nothing Predictions

I've missed over two weeks worth of "The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays" and to quote Steve Irkel (paraphrasing of course), why did it do that?

Well, last week, I overslept and didn't feel like reviewing both NXT and AEW Dynamite. This week was the same but without the oversleeping part (laziness is the word you're looking for, Omar).

I'm not going to recap everything that happened in all two episodes of NXT and AEW Dynamite but rather mention some of the highlights and connect the dots with those episodes if that makes sense?

Before I start this, I wanna send my dearest thoughts and condolences to Shad Gaspard's family and friends.

Gaspard’s work in WWE with JTG as the duo Cryme Tyme and even his creative endeavours like the novel he wrote will live on forever. He left this world by saving his son and that tells you how great of a human being Shad Gaspard is. Rest easy, big man. Now, let's talk about some wrasslin, shall we?

NXT

The Build For NXT's In Your House PPV So Far.

WWE NXT Takeover: In Your House Location Revealed

We now know the title for NXT's next PPV and they're going old school with this one.
As of me writing this, there are 0 official matches announced for In Your House but I'll talk about the storylines and feuds that have impressed me as well as the ones that didn't.

Karrion Kross and Scarlett's Bordeaux Debut - Kross and Scarlett's entrance is something that I've been stuck in my head for days and that is a true testament of a great entrance.

The music started with a slow build-up that further changes its direction into a sudden fast-paced sound that hypes you up. The match itself, however, was nothing special considering that it was a one-sided encounter.

A week passed by and NXT aired a highlight reel of Kross and his motivations with WWE's Armageddon theme song that surprisingly fits.

If I remember correctly, this is the second time that NXT used that song in their programming.

WWE Photo

The first was an opening video for NXT Takeover: The End almost 4 years ago. Between that and the use of the "In Your House" name, they sure do know how to correctly use nostalgia.

Matt Riddle And Timothy Thatcher Split - This is a duo that I didn't expect to be broken up so early. Timothy Thatcher walked away from Matt Riddle during a tag team title match against Imperium's Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel. His motivation?

WWE Photo

Thatcher wanted to tap people out but Riddle's endless shenanigans with the Newly Bro Show was his breaking point. Weirdly enough, the match was made between Thatcher and Riddle later in the night.

It concluded with a roll-up pin from Matt Riddle which led to Timothy applying the armbar on Riddle while the original bro was consistently tapping out.

Not only that it felt too early of a call to break the unlikely team of Riddle and Thatcher but this is a plot device that NXT has been using a lot through the years especially recently. You know, The "once partners now rivals" trope? Yea, that one.

I've been seeing fans point out that Thatcher is a fantastic heel so maybe this tired trope could be useful? Will see.

Am I Still Sold On Heel Johnny Gargano?- Nah. The video promo of Gargano and Candice LeRae having dinner was very similar to the first time they executed this segment.

Johnny Gargano and LeRae’s heel run is missing that finesse that brings the persona together. But, his match with Dominic Djakovic was great though.

Double Or Nothing 2020 Brief Predictions.

AEW Cancels Two More Dynamite Tapings, Presses Ahead With Double ...

Since Double Or Nothing is airing this coming Saturday or Sunday morning depending on where you live, I thought it would be appropriate to predictions all 8 confirmed matches for AEW's now premiere PPV event. Let’s begin.

PRESHOW: Private Party vs. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent). Number One Contender’s Match For The AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Best Friends has been showcased a lot on Dynamite as of late so having the showcased trio win does make sense. Don’t have anything to add other than that.

I Predict: Best Friends win.

Darby Allin vs. Colt Cabana vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Rey Fénix vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Kip Sabian vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Luchasaurus vs. TBD. Casino Ladder match for a future AEW World Championship match.

I’ve seen some people compare this match to the Money In The Bank ladder saying that it’s pretty much the same which is clearly not true. Based on the ruling of the stipulation, it kicks off like a gauntlet match but as soon as the rest of the wrestlers are all in the action, it turns into a ladder match.

I don’t know who the final participant is but they’ll definitely announce it later today on Dynamite. One person came to mind on who will come out victorious and that’s Scorpio Sky.

AEW has been airing videos of his life and career for weeks and it would be fitting for Sky to win the whole thing but those types of matches breed unpredictability so I’m not surprised if I’m wrong on this.

I Predict: Scorpio Sky wins.

Nyla Rose vs. Hikaru Shida In A No Disqualification For The AEW Women's World Championship.

I'm surprised that this match is happening due to Shida being in the number one spot for several weeks. Rose has only been on television whenever the next PPV is around the corner and this one is no exception.

I think Shida wins and it will probably lead to a feud between her and Britt Baker just because of how Baker is positioned right now in the programming (and also the fact that I want to see a rematch between Baker and Shida because of their awesome match on Dynamite weeks ago).

I Predict: Hikaru Shida becomes the new AEW champion.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Kris Statlander.

Having Baker beat someone who has rarely lost in a clean way is huge for the doctor and if anything, it further elevates her into that eventual title contention.

I Predict: Britt Baker wins.

Matt Hardy and The Elite (Adam Page, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz) In A Stadium Stampede match.

This is probably my favourite storyline in all of AEW right now. So much happened in this feud going into Double Or Nothing that could be an article of its own.

The question is, who do I see prevail in the end, the heels or the babyfaces? I could see either team win but if I had to pick, I'll be……

I Predict: The Inner Circle Wins.

Cody vs. Lance Archer. AEW TNT Championship Tournament Finals.

Ever since Cody and Lance Archer were scheduled to be in this tournament, you know those two will face each other in the finals. You had Archer's right-hand person, Jake Roberts cutting great promos like it's the 1980s for God sake.

If Tony Khan was in charge of having Roberts be Lance's mouthpiece then I'll praise him for that brilliant of an idea.

Given the stipulation at Full Gear last year, I'm sure that this will be Cody's first title in AEW and if done correctly, his title reign might be one of the best in the coming's short history.

I Predict: Cody wins the entire tournament, capturing the AEW TNT championship.

MJF vs. Jungle Boy.

Some of my regular readers may know that I'm not the biggest MJF fan in the world. I appreciate the character for giving the hero something to fight for and how it makes the good guys look good but the persona itself is in my opinion, so dated and one dimensional.

This is nothing more than a showcase match for MJF and his moveset. He hasn't impressed me when it comes to his in-ring action but that could have the potential to be a solid match thanks to the presence of a great competitor like a Jungle Boy.

I Predict: MJF wins.

Jon Moxley vs. Brodie Lee For The AEW World Championship.

These two guys have a long history dating back to their days as adversaries in The Shield and Wyatt Family rivalry back in 2014.

Their chemistry will be shown in the ring on Saturday and this is a match that I'm interested in from a wrestling standpoint. However, do I see Brodie Lee become the AEW champion? Not anytime soon and Moxley's reign will live on for a while.

I Predict: Jon Moxley retains the championship.

The question is, what are some of the highlights on both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

Let's Talk About The State Of Wrestlemania 37.

I usually save those kinds of pieces for my weekly news series, The 5 News Week due to how modern this subject is and how my essays usually dwell on the past.  Usually, it is too early to talk about an upcoming Wrestlemania in October but not this time especially since we're still in a pandemic.  This is a topic I've been thinking about all month and I had to write my thoughts on it.  Let's answer this question right away whether Wrestlemania 37 will happen in SoFii stadium next year?  from CBS Los Angeles The answer is an obvious no. But, I want to try to dig deeper and see exactly where we stand today.  As of me writing this, Wrestlemania: Hollywood edition is still scheduled to take place in SoFi stadium despite an outlet that shall not be named, claiming otherwise.  This is either sheer blind optimism or downright idiotic from Dubya, Dubya E.  WrestleVotes did mention back in July that while the event is still going to take place in the stadium,...

WWE Wrestlemania 26 | A Coherent Review.

I've teased a mystery review on my Facebook page (which you can click here to follow us) and that mystery has now been unveiled. It's Wrestlemania 26. This review was delayed and was supposed to be up last Monday but at least is now up. Also, The first draft of this review was 7 pages long so strap in. By far, the longest review on this very website.  I thought it would be fitting to review a Wrestlemania from a decade back and how do I feel about it? It was a show that if you watched it, you're most likely going to have a good time. It was a mix of great things but terrible things at the same time as most shows.  The 26th edition of Wrestlemania took place in the University of Phoenix Stadium in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Arizona on March 28th, 2010.  The commentators were Micheal Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. Honestly, Striker was pretty good and a far better colour commentator than Lawler was on this show (even today, Lawler is still bleh on commen...

WWE RAW 17/8/20 | A Bit Late Coherent Review.

This episode was A. S. S. Probably one of the most boring episodes I've seen all year.  The show was basically the Christmas episode/ the new year episode that came 4 months early.  And yes, I did post the Monday Night RAW review last Wednesday just like today (which is Wednesday) but it isn't going to be permanent though.  The reason why I posted the review a day late is that, life. Just life.  pictures via  WWE.com Drew Talks About What Randy Did To The Nature Boy Last Week.  McIntyre's reaction to what Randy did to Ric Flair was a feeling of disgust saying that Orton without question, heinously attacked a friend, a mentor and a father figure. As Drew continues to talk about how he'll beat the sh*t out of the legend killer, there were some technical issues that plagued the entire segment.  And who was responsible for that? Well, it was none other than Retribution.  Drew saw the verbal chaos going on f...
