WWE Smackdown Live 10/9/19 | My Coherent Review.

This episode was okay. Did things pretty decently (if that's a real word) as well as did things that weren't even good.

*Gong, Gong, Gong, Gong* It's The Gobbledy Gooker.

All bad jokes aside, The Undertaker kicked off this week's episode of Smackdown Live to say that he's been in WWE for 30 plus years (his run in WWE is older than most fans in this community including moi).

Sami Zayn came out and he did the cliche of "a heel respects a babyface legend but he/she really doesn't" saying that Undertaker shouldn't open this episode and the future is now and the future is Sami Zayn.

Zayn asks The Deadman to leave this ring right now and pass the torch to him.
Taker then passed the torch or the microphone in this case but Zayn ate a chokeslam from the Deadman. I would describe this segment as not displeasing so to put it in plain unseasoned English, it's aight.

Shane McMahon had a talk with Chad Gable in McMahon's about who's Gable facing in the King Of The Ring Semi-Finals match given that Elias' injured. Who could it be? Well, it's Shane McMahon himself (no seriously, it's him). While I'm not a fan of Shane McMahon as a bad guy, that actually makes sense given that it's his heel narrative and it fits his character.

The Miz vs Andrade.

WWE Photo
I really like when the commentators asked Nakamura a question and he answered it in Japanese. Kinda feels like when a character in Tekken speaks to another character in a different language but they understand each other but not in the commentary booth.

Don't know why I brought up Tekken but there you go. The Miz won the match and then he ate a  from the intercontinental champion. A decent match overall.

Mandy Rose vs Nikki Cross.

WWE Photo
Before this below-average match happened, Mandy Rose called Nikki Cross "ugly" and Nikki Cross immediately rushed to the ring to beat up Rose which led to a win from Cross with a roll-up.

I did find it funny when Corey Graves called Mandy Rose a "beautiful Lu Thez" but what I don't find it funny is that terrible promo Rose cut even though she's capable of a lot more. "You're so ugly" really WWE? That promo was a step back in terms of what the women's division is capable of executing a promo.

Ember Moon showed up in Bayley's locker room expressing concern about Bayley's recent actions and Bayley says that she's still herself.

A few back and forth saying later and Ember told Bayley to save their argument for their match. Ember struggles when it comes to cutting a promo, however, I'm actually impressed how Ember came off in this segment.

Heavy Machinery vs Local Jobbers.

WWE Photo
Heavy Machinery won the match with the compactor. Whatever.

Shane McMahon brought Kevin Owens into his office and told him that he's getting rid of the $100,000 fine if Owens calls this match fair and square as a special guest referee in his King Of The Ring semi-finals match.

Rowan Doesn't Answer To Nobody Anymore.

Suddenly, Roman Reigns interrupts with a Superman Punch!
Rowan said that the people should look in eyes and one of those people that actually looked him in his eyes was Roman Reigns and he superman punch Rowan and both men later had a brawl which included Rowan throwing a "fan" into a bunch of security guards.

That brawl was a decent way of showing a taste of what both men are going to do at Clash of Champions next week so it's not horrible, to say the least, but what was horrible was Rowan's promo. That crap stinks hard.

Bayley vs Ember Moon.

WWE Photo
After Bayley won her match with Bayley to belly, Charlotte Flair came out to the ring to "congratulate" her with her signature pose.

Kofi Kingston Reflects His Greatest Moment 10 years Later.

WWE PhotoKofi Kingston showed us footage of him hitting the boom drop 10 years back to which Randy Orton was sick of that moment and then a brawl happened which led to a boom drop from Randy Orton through a table just like what happened 10 years ago.

What a great way to build off a WWE championship match then to relive history and the way it's all connected with the opponents and the area was fantastic.

Chad Gable vs Shane McMahon. King Of The Ring Semi-Finals Match.

WWE Photo
Chad Gable won the match quickly with a german suplex but Shane restarted the match into a 2 out of 3 falls match. Chad Gable won the match again with an ankle lock which obviously made Shane pissed and fired Owens on the spot.

Curious to see how the King Of The Ring finals will play put. As far as the firing goes, will see how that firing thing leads.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Kofi and Randy segment, Ember Moon's confrontation with Bayley, Nakamura replying the commentators' questions with Japanese.

Didn't like: Mandy Rose calling Nikki Cross "ugly " because that's so creative right?, Rowan's promo.

My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.  But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.  NXT    Highlights.  Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.  By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.  The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.  Then,...

Top 3 BEST Distraction Finishes EVER!

Distraction endings to a wrestling match in WWE depend on one another if you think about it. It's like the peanut butter and jelly or the chicken and the basmati biryani rice or Dan Lambert and sexism.  "Why top 3", you may ask? Because one, I'm different and two, well, I'm different, so be gone to the mofos that think it's shorter than Brock Lesnar's bout with Kofi Kingston.  (WARNING: This piece is mostly sarcasm).  Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Wrestlemania 28.  I know this made your eyebrows raise as high as Rocky Maivia but think about this. The kiss from AJ Lee that led to a brogue kick from Sheamus, has in some way, led to the general audience seeing how Daniel Bryan should be WAY higher in the overall arc than where he was at that time.  Also, this was also the year where Bryan showed off his comedic chops with his "NO" catchphrase and his tag team run with the big red conservative, Kane.  If anything, this distraction finish was a great chara...

Roman Reigns Relinquishes The Universal Title Because He Has Leukemia.

I have a sad and unfortunate news to break. Two hours ago on RAW, Roman cut a great promo pretty much stating that he's been living with leukemia for over 11 years and the disease's return forced him to give up the universal championship. The segment ended with both shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins gave a group hug to Roman and did the triple shield fist pump. Ever since that, fellow WWE superstars reacted to the news on Twitter and here are the tweets so far. An amazing human being, an incredible performer & a man I’m proud to be friends with. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Get well soon, champ! #ThankYouRoman https://t.co/jL1Q5dVvzs — #WOKEN, yet #BROKEN, Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) October 23, 2018 My heart right now ....
