The 5 News Week: The Good Bros Reportedly Signed A 5 Year Deal, Vince McMahon Apparently Happy With Last Week's Episode Of Raw.

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.

Batista On Vince Ditching The Hell In A Cell Match Idea That He Pitched For His Wrestlemania 35 Match (Okay. I really need to work on news headlines).

Chris Jericho has his usual great sit down talk or interview on Talk Is Jericho and this time it was with Dave Bautista about what has Dave been up to as of late as well as his feud with Triple H earlier this year. According to "The Animal", he pitched Vince McMahon an idea for his mania match with Triple H quote (transcript via wrestling-edge.com):

“Originally, we wanted a have a Hell In A Cell, but Vince, because of the pay-per-view, he didn’t want to have a Hell In A Cell, and we really wanted Hell In A Cell. They’re just great matches, they’re violent. We needed bells and whistles.

We’re two older guys, we hadn’t wrestled in a long time and we needed the drama. We’ve already got the history, so we just needed the violence.”

R Truth On Thinking That The "Little Jimmy" Thing was "An Accident".

R Truth's 2011 heel run was in my opinion, pretty good and it was one of the only times that I as a fan, took him seriously as a character (even though I love current R Truth). In his interview with E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, Truth talked about how that "Little Jimmy" line was accidental. Here's what he had to say (transcript via 411mania):

“Little Jimmy was an accident, dog. How bout this like, that thing about me smoking and all that? Vince caught me smoking, right? And so I guess to rib me or to get back at me, he had me smoke a cigarette on TV. And it got me over more, ’cause people was like, ‘Oh s**t, he’s cool! He’s smoking a cigarette right now!’ Like, ‘I see you, you’re smoking it! He’s blowing smoke!’ Like in the moment I came out, Vince was like, ‘Okay, they’re cheering for it. I want you to come out and s**t on the people and call them all ‘Little Jimmys,’ all John Cena fans.’

He continues on: I did that, and I just happened to turn to the side, and bend down and said, ‘Aw, Little Jimmy, all the Little Jimmys out there wanna be like you.’ And from that point on, everybody pointed and said, ‘He’s talking to Little Jimmy!’ I was just talking to my damn self, but if Little Jimmy’s there, then he’s right there, yeah! That’s who I was talking to! And dog, it just blew up from there like, I turn my head to the side, everybody says I’m talking to Little Jimmy’ … Organic, everything in my career has happened because of organic [developments], that’s it.”

The Good Bros Reportedly Signed A 5 Year Deal.

So. On last week's edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Dave Meltzer, he mentioned that Anderson and Gallows have quote "agreed to or actually have signed, their five-year contracts". He then gave a follow up to this story on Friday's Wrestling Observer Radio with co-host Garrett Gonzales and said that they "absolutely signed"

Jon Alba (who's a sports reporter), put another layer to this story. He said in a tweet that The Good Brothers have signed a 5 year deal with "a significant raise". Alba also mentioned that the deal hasn't been received until "this past Monday".

The Latest News On The Impact Wrestling/AXS TV Deal.

Pursuit hasn't been a good destination for viewing content made by Impact Wrestling which I've covered one of the oopsies made by the Pursuit channel.

Voices Of Wrestling back on Monday (article from Fightful), reported that Impact Wrestling are in negotiations with AXS TV to air Impact Wrestling on AXS but the deal hasn't been finalized yet and there are factors that prevent that.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the potential time slot if the deal is finalized, will be on Fridays as a lead from either the MMA fights or the NJPW 4 hour block. The MMA fight lead in makes more sense to me considering that a 4-hour show plus a 2-hour show before that would be exhausting but that's just me.

Vince McMahon Apparently Happy With Last Week's Episode Of Raw.

Justin Barrasso over at Sports Illustrated posted a RAW preview article on that site and wrote at the end of that article that Vince McMahon and other WWE executives were "immensely pleased" with the show's tone, pacing and essence of last week's Monday Night RAW episode. I for one, thought that RAW was okay (click here to read my review for it).

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WWE Wrestlemania 26 | A Coherent Review.

I've teased a mystery review on my Facebook page (which you can click here to follow us) and that mystery has now been unveiled. It's Wrestlemania 26. This review was delayed and was supposed to be up last Monday but at least is now up. Also, The first draft of this review was 7 pages long so strap in. By far, the longest review on this very website.  I thought it would be fitting to review a Wrestlemania from a decade back and how do I feel about it? It was a show that if you watched it, you're most likely going to have a good time. It was a mix of great things but terrible things at the same time as most shows.  The 26th edition of Wrestlemania took place in the University of Phoenix Stadium in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Arizona on March 28th, 2010.  The commentators were Micheal Cole, Jerry Lawler and Matt Striker. Honestly, Striker was pretty good and a far better colour commentator than Lawler was on this show (even today, Lawler is still bleh on commen...

WrestleFest DXB's Fahrenheit 971 | A Coherent W.

Being a fan of pro wrestling (or any other medium of entertainment) does have its pros and cons when engaging with the industry as a whole.  On one hand, you've witnessed an Eddie Kingston promo that'll make you tear up more than the opening scene of Up.  On the other hand, going to the wrestling subreddit will definitely have you questioning humanity as a whole and the fact that living in an area where a wrestling presence pretty much doesn't exist like a Vince Russo-written storyline that is, you know, GOOD!?  Luckily, the latter retracted my con as a fan because I'm talking about Wrestlefest DXB and their latest joint, "971 Fahrenheit".  Martin Bushby of now Post Wrestling Alumni brought the event to my attention because like a wrestler on an episode of RAW I get distracted all the time.  So, I decided to take a short journey to a taxi then a bus then a train then a 30-minute walk to the show itself and I know I'm going to sound biased as f**k but I l...

Let's Talk About The State Of Wrestlemania 37.

I usually save those kinds of pieces for my weekly news series, The 5 News Week due to how modern this subject is and how my essays usually dwell on the past.  Usually, it is too early to talk about an upcoming Wrestlemania in October but not this time especially since we're still in a pandemic.  This is a topic I've been thinking about all month and I had to write my thoughts on it.  Let's answer this question right away whether Wrestlemania 37 will happen in SoFii stadium next year?  from CBS Los Angeles The answer is an obvious no. But, I want to try to dig deeper and see exactly where we stand today.  As of me writing this, Wrestlemania: Hollywood edition is still scheduled to take place in SoFi stadium despite an outlet that shall not be named, claiming otherwise.  This is either sheer blind optimism or downright idiotic from Dubya, Dubya E.  WrestleVotes did mention back in July that while the event is still going to take place in the stadium,...
