WWE RAW 1/7/19 | My Coherent Review.

Image result for The New Day
The show under the head of Paul Heyman as executive director but did it enhance the show in any way? In certain aspects but I can't really tell factually if it was Heyman or not.

What I can tell is that this show was decent and I'm curious as to how WWE puts together in the go home show next week (man, time passes by so quick).

Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley. Falls Count Anywhere Match.

WWE Photo
When it comes to those types of matches, you expect some brawling in the ring, outside the ring, in the stage area and a shoulder tackle onto the LED board (not typically but you get it).

WWE Photo
That spot was so brutal that Corey Graves started to curse on a PG show. If they went a bit longer then I would've enjoyed this match a ton but overall it was decent. Another thing to add, the commentary team did a great job of selling that incident.

The Viking Raiders vs The New Day in Xavier Woods and Big E.

WWE Photo
Xavier Woods was looking for a tag until Samoa Joe came out and choked out Woods with the Kokina Clutch. Kofi Kingston ran to Joe and started to brawl with Samoa Joe to which The Viking Raiders makes the save. You know what that means?

The Viking Raiders and Samoa Joe vs The New Day.

WWE Photo
The heel team won the match with the kokina clutch from Samoa Joe. This is the first time or his second if you count his pin on SmackDown Live last week in a two out of three falls match that Kofi actually lost clean by submission and I kinda get that they want to build a destroyer in Samoa Joe but I know for a fact that it's not gonna pay off.

Drake Maverick bought his wife to RAW and she told Maverick either choose her or the 24/7 championship. Minutes after that, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows had a chat about Ricochet and Anderson's hot Asian wife.

No Way Jose vs Cesaro.

WWE Photo
The match hasn't started because of the 24/7 championship shenanigans. A frustrated Cesaro however, delivered the neutralizer to Jose on the outside. If I was Drake Maverick then I'm probably choosing his wife because SHE'S YOUR WIFE FOR GOD SAKE!!!

Charly Caruso interviewed The Street Profits (yes, The Street Profits) and they did what they do best and that's being entertaining af.

Another backstage interview and this time it was Sarah Schreiber and she interviewed The Miz about what Shane McMahon did to him last week on SmackDown Live. Such a shame that Miz has to take so many Ls because he's so good at what he does.

Shane McMahon And Drew McIntyre Talks About The Returning Undertaker.

WWE Photo
After Mike Rome introduced Shane McMahon with passion (which is getting really old), McMahon talked about how he and McIntyre beat Roman Reigns up and showed footage of them doing that.

Drew claims to be a hybrid of every generation and that he has no fear of The Undertaker.
Shane said that Undertaker returning was surprising but there will be no surprises at Extreme Rules and Drew McIntyre later said that he's a hybrid and he came to fight.

The Undertaker is here!
"Lighting struck" in the arena to which we hear the "gong" sound and you know what happens after that. Undertaker said that Roman didn't ask him for help and he helped Roman because he's gonna take their souls in Shane and Drew.

The Reaper also said that Shane got his respect until he was eaten by greed and ego. He ended the promo by telling those guys to rest in peace. Considering that Shane McMahon is in this segment (no shit, Omar), this was surprisingly okay. Taker made this segment A LOT better and Shane didn't have a 20/25 minute promo so that's nice.

Lacey Evans vs Natalya.

WWE Photo
I know that announcement was leaked but isn't Lacey supposed to face Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's championship?

Now, the mixed tag team match at Extreme Rules is getting an extreme rules match (finally, something that I pitched last week and now I'm gonna brag about it). Lacey Evans won the match with the women's right.

Backstage interview.

Ricochet was interviewed by Charly Caruso about his loss to AJ until The Club came out and they said that Ricochet might be in trouble with someone else.

Meanwhile, Anderson and Gallows were psychologically manipulating Styles and they were successful at it. Styles went to Ricochet, told him that he's gonna face him for the title tonight and slapped him to which Ricochet slapped him back.

The Miz vs Elias. 2 out of 3 falls match.

WWE Photo
The Miz won the first fall with the skull crushing finale making the 2 out of 3 falls match completely meaningless. Elias was awarded the second fall with the drift away. The Miz won the final fall with the figure 4 leg lock.

This match was very good surprisingly. I wish that they didn't end the first fall quickly but again, it was a pretty good encounter.

Seth Rollins And Becky Lynch Interview.

Charly Caruso interviewed The Man couple  (that was awful) and she asked if Seth was implosive with his decision last week? Obviously, he said no and they went back and forth with some banter.

Maria Kanellis came out with Mike Kallenis and she asked the champions a mixed tag match to which Seth and Becky Lynch accepted.

Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch vs Maria and Mike Kanellis.

WWE Photo
Mike and Maria got a full entrance after the champions. Maria was tagged by her husband and she grabbed the microphone saying that she's pregnant.

That got Mike distracted and Becky put the disarmher on him and won the match. Then, Maria told him that she'll rather have Becky impregnate her. This is something I would see from TNA back in the early 2010s. God, that was bad. Congrats to Maria though.

The Moment of Bliss And Her Guest Is None Other Than Nikki Cross.

Cross says defeating Bayley never would have been possible without Alexa’s guidance…
Alexa was verbally putting over Nikki Cross until Carmella came out to say that Bliss is using her. Verbal back and forth later and Bliss and Carmella had a match.

WWE Photo

The match ended in seconds with a roll-up from Carmella and she won the match. After the commercial break, Carmella is having another impromptu match against Nikki Cross. Nikki Cross won the match with the swinging neckbreaker.

WWE Photo

Wait. Wait. Isn't Carmella supposed to get a championship match considering that she pinned Bliss in seconds? I mean I get it they're trying to tell a story but this makes no complete sense whatsoever.

Ricochet vs AJ Styles for the United States Championship.

WWE Photo
Alrighty. We went from Drake Maverick winning the 24/7 championship by hitting Truth with his travel bag to this match. The match was restarted because AJ won the title but one of Ricochet's legs was on the rope.

WWE Photo

A decent back and forth later and Ricochet won the match with a roll up. AJ Styles' mind turned the other way and he beats up Ricochet along with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. We all saw that coming from a mile away and a heel Styles is a nice change of scenery and The Club actually looked great in this too.

Hoping that they can restart Karl and Luke's momentum as a tag team because they never recovered ever since they were fed to Roman Reigns in 2016 even though I loved Roman's run as WWE champion.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos:

Like: The ending, The Street Profits' banter backstage, The Miz vs Elias.

Didn't like: Isn't Carmella supposed to get a title shot after she pinned Alexa Bliss in seconds?, Maria Kanellis' promo after that mixed tag team match.

My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.  But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.  NXT    Highlights.  Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.  By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.  The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.  Then,...

Top 3 BEST Distraction Finishes EVER!

Distraction endings to a wrestling match in WWE depend on one another if you think about it. It's like the peanut butter and jelly or the chicken and the basmati biryani rice or Dan Lambert and sexism.  "Why top 3", you may ask? Because one, I'm different and two, well, I'm different, so be gone to the mofos that think it's shorter than Brock Lesnar's bout with Kofi Kingston.  (WARNING: This piece is mostly sarcasm).  Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Wrestlemania 28.  I know this made your eyebrows raise as high as Rocky Maivia but think about this. The kiss from AJ Lee that led to a brogue kick from Sheamus, has in some way, led to the general audience seeing how Daniel Bryan should be WAY higher in the overall arc than where he was at that time.  Also, this was also the year where Bryan showed off his comedic chops with his "NO" catchphrase and his tag team run with the big red conservative, Kane.  If anything, this distraction finish was a great chara...

Roman Reigns Relinquishes The Universal Title Because He Has Leukemia.

I have a sad and unfortunate news to break. Two hours ago on RAW, Roman cut a great promo pretty much stating that he's been living with leukemia for over 11 years and the disease's return forced him to give up the universal championship. The segment ended with both shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins gave a group hug to Roman and did the triple shield fist pump. Ever since that, fellow WWE superstars reacted to the news on Twitter and here are the tweets so far. An amazing human being, an incredible performer & a man I’m proud to be friends with. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family.
