The 5 News Week: Angelico Signs With AEW, WWE Signs Two Talents From The Greatest Royal Rumble Segment?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.

Mauro Ranallo Signs A New Deal With WWE.

This piece of news gets a “no shit Sherlock” award. Anyways, the best play by play commentator in WWE Mauro Ranallo has signed a new deal with WWE.

From PWinsider and Mike Johnson, the deal was quote “agreed to a month or so back” and he will continue to do more combat sports commentary outside of WWE.

Angelico Signs With AEW.

Continuing the trend of “which talent signs with which company?”, Angelico has signed with AEW according to Pro Wrestling Sheet and Ryan Satin

Interestingly enough, WWE had an interest in picking up the South African pro wrestler and had planned on putting him in NXT but WWE didn't want to get into a “bidding war with AEW”. I've been a fan of his ever since he was on Lucha Underground so this is a great pick up for AEW.

By the way, shout out to Wrestling Inc for bringing up an interview Angelico did with German Wrestling Foundation that was conducted a month ago about how likes to signs with fresh/new promotions:

"Anything that’s new in wrestling—much like Lucha Underground—has a bit of a boom around it because the same companies and the same wrestlers have been around for decades now. So, whenever a new company comes in and they offer something new I think that always has something interesting to it. You kind of don’t know where it’s going to go, you sort of have to play it by year and I’ve always kind of been like that in life. I work as hard as I can day-to-day, but don’t have an end goal. It’s just every day, just a process of trying to be a better person, trying to be a better wrestler and eventually I trust that will lead me to wherever I’m going to be, eventually. Definitely new projects are interesting to me. … The same as Lucha [Underground], I didn’t know what the concept was until I filmed an episode, but that’s part of the allure to it, it’s new. AEW definitely has that going for it, for sure.”

Angelico will be part of the AEW roster along with Lucha Underground alumni, Jack Evans.

WWE Signs Two Talents From The Greatest Royal Rumble Segment?

The question I gotta ask myself is, what took WWE so long to sign those guys? Couldn't find the answer to that question but Square Circle Siren and Casey Michaels reports that WWE has signed Hussain Aldagal and Faisal Kurdi.

They were part of the WWE tryouts in Saudi Arabia last year and was part of that controversial segment in the Greatest Royal Rumble show. I say controversial because the Davari Brothers got death threats after the segment had aired so there you go.

Matches and Segments for Both RAW and Smackdown Live This Week Have Been Announced.

Excited for the go home shows for both RAW and Smackdown Live? Whether you are or not, the fact is that WWE has announced some matches and segments for both shows that are set to be taped shows because they're on a European tour. In the RAW side of things:

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair (because of the wildcard rule) and Lacey Evans will be part of a double contract signing.
A women's fatal four-way match has been made that features all of the competitors in the Money In The Bank ladder match.

Singles matches made between Ricochet vs Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman vs Drew McIntyre.

Roman Reigns will be the guest on Miz’s Miz TV segment.

On SmackDown Live, they announced:

A tag match between Kairi Sane and Asuka vs Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

A fatal four-way match that features all of the men's competitors in the Money In The Bank ladder match.

Kofi Kingston will be the invited guest on The Kevin Owens show.

Why's SmackDown Live’s announcement sounds so oddly familiar?

Percy Watson Reportedly Quits NXT.

Percy Watson who's actually alright in the commentary team has quit NXT according to the previous mentioned Square Circle Siren’s Casey Michael

Michael stated in a tweet that the reason why Percy Watson has quit NXT is simply because he wants to focus on acting and doesn't want to be quote “a commentator/personality/wrestler apparently”. Beth Phoenix has replaced Percy Watson’s position in the commentary team in the recent NXT tapings.

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...
