WWE Smackdown Live 16/4/19 Aka Superstar Shakeup Final Day | My Coherent Review.

Overall a good show but the Superstar shakeup element was a bit better than Monday Night RAW’s version.

Opening segment.

Owens congratulates Kofi for his incredible run to the WWE Title.

The second and final day of the Superstar shakeup started off with The Kevin Owens show and he obviously got a big ovation from the Montreal crowd. Owens said welcome to the Kevin Owens show in French and that's all I got from him speaking in French.

He then introduced ⅔ of The New Day in Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston and Owens asked him that they have a match between Rusev, Nakamura and Cesaro vs Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and himself.

The segment ended with all three of those men making a fool of themselves which I'm not gonna lie, it was entertaining. A decent segment in my opinion. Especially when Kevin Owens was gyrating. Hilarious stuff from Owens.

Ali (Still Mustafa Ali to me) vs The first SmackDown Live Pick.

The first SmackDown Live pick is the Intercontinental champion, Finn Balor. Samoa Joe was supposed to be on RAW last night but he apparently got really sick. Anyways, the match itself was very good. Finn Balor won the match with the coup de grace.

After that, The New Day was searching for Big O aka Kevin Owens so that Kevin could eat a crap ton of pancakes to become an honorary member of The New Day which that's exactly what he did.

Charlotte Flair vs Carmella.

During the match, Carmella delivered a cross body from the barricade to Charlotte which looked good. The match ended with Charlotte hitting the figure 8 and won the match. The match was a bit slow but it was solid.

After the match, Lars Sullivan came out and destroyed R Truth. If WWE was TV 14 again, guaranteed he's gonna beat up Carmella as well. Lars Sullivan is now officially on SmackDown Live even though by the end of my RAW review (click here to read it), I wrote that Lars Sullivan is on RAW which is an oopse from my part.

Becky Lynch Has Her Own Announcement Regarding The Superstar shakeup (Yes, I got that from Tom Phillips).

The Man has been keeping an eye on her potential challengers, and she vows to run right through Lacey Evans and “slap new heads.”

Becky Lynch talked about her win at Wrestlemania and wanting competition. Ember Moon and Bayley came out basically to challenge the championships. The IIconics came out and they said that Bayley and Ember got zero belts and how their belts look so much better than Becky's belts which I agree.

Paige came out and she announced who's gonna face the IIconics for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship and they are Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville or so I thought. That team is Asuka and Kairi Sane. All those women except for Becky had a brawl and you know what that means…..

Bayley, Asuka, Kairi Sane and Ember Moon vs The IIconics, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

The match was okay. The babyface team won the match with the insane elbow drop to Peyton Royce which is always great to look at. Ember Moon and Bayley coming to Smackdown Live is a great addition to the SmackDown Live women's division and I hope that Ember especially gets a championship opportunity ASAP.

The New Day and Kevin Owens vs Rusev, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.

Another okay match. The New Day and Big O won the match with a stunner to Rusev.

Vince McMahon announces the biggest acquisition in the history of Smackdown Live.

Mr. McMahon claims it̢۪s great to be back in Montreal.

Vince McMahon came out and he got  “You screwed Bret” chants which was hilarious. Then, he announced the biggest acquisition in the history of this show and that person is, Elias. Huh? I mean I like Elias but he's no BIG acquisition.

That was a BIG disappointment until the BIG Dog showed up (see what I just did there). The show ended with Roman Reigns telling everybody that SmackDown is his yard now and proceeded to spear Elias. I love this choice man and it makes a lot of sense considering that AJ Styles left the house that he built.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos:

Like: Roman Reigns, Ember Moon and Bayley appearance, Finn Balor vs Mustafa Ali.

Didn't like: Nothing really.

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
