WWE RAW 7/1/19 | My Coherent Review

My first RAW review of 2019 and surprisingly, this show was decent. Now, would RAW put on decent shows in the coming weeks or months? Probably not but I hope that's the case. Now, usually on my RAW and Smackdown Live reviews, I give my thoughts on what's good, what's ok and what bad (click here if you curious as to how the format looks like). However, since this is the new year, I'm gonna get rid of that and instead just put my in-depth thoughts just like my PPV reviews. Without further ado, on with the review.

Opening Segment

The show itself started off with a brawl between Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley that lasted for a very short period of time. After that’s done, the opening segment started with John Cena and cuts a promo on how he’s gonna earn his golden ticket to Wrestlemania by entering in this year’s Royal Rumble match.

Out came Drew McIntyre and he said that Cena’s accomplishments is what Drew cares about. He then went on how he’s beaten pretty every top star on RAW.

John Cena fired back by saying that he’s heard the same promo by everybody. “What makes you any different than anybody else?” says Cena. Then Drew said that he’s not gonna talk, he’s gonna show him.

Lio Rush opened his mouth and said that Seth Rollins “went crazy” and demanded a lawyer. Seth Rollins from behind, came out to brawl with Bobby Lashley that turned into a 6 man brawl between Seth, Cena, Balor, McIntyre, Ambrose and Lashley. You know what that means?

John Cena, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Dean Ambrose

Honestly, this was a solid match. During the match, Seth Rollins was on the top rope and hit a quick moonsault outta nowhere to both Lashley and Ambrose. This match ended with Dean going for the dirty deeds but instead, Seth Rollins delivered the stomp and won the match.

After the match, Rollins went backstage, threw Hunter’s cup and wanted a rematch between him and Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship right now. Triple H actually accepted it and that match will be a falls count anywhere match.

Hulk Hogan pays Tribute To Mean Gene Okerlund

... and he introduces a video package featuring Okerlund̢۪s career highlights.
Hulk Hogan came out to the ring and showed us a great video package about Mean Gene. After that, Hogan said that Gene will always be part of him. He ended the promo with him saying “whatcha gonna do when Mean Gene runs wild on you brother”. I’m glad that the crowd didn’t boo the whole thing because of Hulk Hogan considering that this segment pays tribute to Mean Gene Okerlund. Either way, this was a nice homage to Mean Gene.

Bobby Roode and Chad Gable vs The Revival for the RAW tag team championship in a Lumberjack match

This was whatever I guess. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable retained the gold with a small package but Scott Dawson’s foot was on the rope. The ref didn’t see this so it looks like we’re getting a rematch between those two teams but hopefully with a No DQ stipulation because it makes sense.

Elias vs Baron Corbin

WWE Photo
Before this like every other match that Elias has been in, there was an Elias concert and in it he said that he’s entering the Royal Rumble match. Baron Corbin came out to the ring and he announced that he’s in the Royal Rumble match. After that, Elias told Corbin to shut his mouth and the match begins. The match itself was fine. Baron Corbin won the match with the end of days.

Face to Face confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman

Heyman vows that if Lesnar went to the ring, then Lesnar would end up without an opponent at the Royal Rumble event.
After that awkward silence in between promos with Heyman and Strowman, Brock decided to confront Braun in the ring. Brock’s music hits and he walked around the ring. Lesnar then decided to leave and Braun said that he’s going to be crowned new Universal Champion. What an odd segment that was.

Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox vs Apollo Crews and Ember Moon.

This was a waste, especially the promo before this match. The team of Apollo Crews and Ember Moon won the match with Ember Moon delivered the eclipse to Alicia Fox and Alicia sold that move like a champ.

The debut episode of A Moment With Bliss

Suddenly, Sasha Banks hits the scene!
Alexa Bliss introduced Ronda Rousey after playing Ronda’s video package. Ronda said that there’s one person that has earned her championship opportunity and that’s Sasha Banks. Out came Nia Jax and basically said that she has some unfinished business.

Sasha Banks’ music hits and she said that Sasha would teach Ronda how to lose with dignity and class. Nia Jax replied by saying that Sasha needs to get back in line and Sasha replied with “Bitch, what line?” That led to a match between Sasha and Nia, Speaking of which……….

Sasha Banks vs Nia Jax

This was a slow match but for some reason, I thought it was decent. Sasha Banks won the match with the bank statement. It is official, Sasha will face Ronda for the RAW women’s championship and I can’t wait to see that match.

Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins for The Intercontinental Championship

Kevin Dunn, that’s a lot of shaky cams man. Anyways by the end of the match, Seth hits Dean with the stomp, goes for the cover until Bobby Lashley broke the pin and just straight assaulted him. Dean saw a beaten down Seth, pins him and retained the championship. After the match, Lio Rush grabbed a table and Bobby puts Seth through a table. This match was very short for a falls count anywhere and I get it considering that they just had a match earlier but it could’ve gone a bit longer.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos

Like: 6 man tag, The Tribute for Mean Gene.

Didn’t like: Brock and Braun face to face confrontation, Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox vs Apollo Crews and Ember Moon.

My question is, what do you think about RAW last night? Let me know in the comments below and make sure to follow the blog for honest pro wrestling opinions. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WrestleFest DXB's Fahrenheit 971 | A Coherent W.

Being a fan of pro wrestling (or any other medium of entertainment) does have its pros and cons when engaging with the industry as a whole.  On one hand, you've witnessed an Eddie Kingston promo that'll make you tear up more than the opening scene of Up.  On the other hand, going to the wrestling subreddit will definitely have you questioning humanity as a whole and the fact that living in an area where a wrestling presence pretty much doesn't exist like a Vince Russo-written storyline that is, you know, GOOD!?  Luckily, the latter retracted my con as a fan because I'm talking about Wrestlefest DXB and their latest joint, "971 Fahrenheit".  Martin Bushby of now Post Wrestling Alumni brought the event to my attention because like a wrestler on an episode of RAW I get distracted all the time.  So, I decided to take a short journey to a taxi then a bus then a train then a 30-minute walk to the show itself and I know I'm going to sound biased as f**k but I l...

Let's Talk About The White Rabbit In The Room.

I haven't reviewed last year's show mainly because it was so good and clearly as extreme as any ECW match and I'm happy to tell all 3 of y'all that this one is better by several inches or so. Why? *slaps my bald head* HERE'S WHY. The opening match between Sheamus and Gunther's crew ruled harder than the Mongolian empire.  It was basically an enhanced version of Sheamus' match with Gunther last night on Smackdown and I loved it.  The Brawling Brutes' victory means one thing that is clearly obvious, a rematch between Sheamus and Gunther for the intercontinental championship aka the only series of rematches I don't mind.  Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan delivered in what was a wrestling match equivalent to the X-Men Dark Phoenix movie.  While Bianca Belair and Bayley had their equivalent to the first Iron Man movie in that it was decent.  Drew McIntyre and Karrion Kross had an okay edition of the "Meaty men slapping meat".  That spear from Edge to...

A Few Thoughts On RAW And Smackdown: RAW wasn't GREAT!?

Since this blog will be less of a priority now considering I'm focusing on my podcast now (hit the 5 stars on Apple Podcast you sons of b*tches), I decided to share my few thoughts on RAW, Smackdown, I guess?  Smackdown.  The blue brand delivered yet another good episode this week and it's probably due to the fact that Braun Strowman taking out the Maximum Model is high-key funny as f**k.  The folks over at Titan Towers are bringing back the essence of their characters whether it's Kevin Owens, Shayna Baszler or in this case, Big Braun himself.   As a fan, you gotta love it, especially since in the case of Strowman, the dude hasn't been the same since he turned heel 4 years ago when feuding with Roman Reigns for the universal title.   Other noteworthy segments include Logan Paul challenging Roman Reigns for the big world universal multiverse galactic cinematic championship.  Imagine they pulled that match off 7 years ago back when Logan was on V...
