WWE RAW 29/4/19 | My Coherent Review.

Image result for Alexa Bliss
This episode of Monday Night RAW was pretty decent actually. Had some nitpicks for this show obviously but again, decent show.

Opening segment.

Corbin vows to become a two-time Money in the Bank contract winner…
The show started off with Alexa Bliss and she's set to announce the participants for the men's Money In The Bank ladder match. She introduced the RAW participants and they are Braun Strowman, Ricochet (the sound effects. Get rid of it NOW!), Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.

Corbin then proclaimed that he's going be a two-time winner and Ricochet replied by saying “you mean a two-time loser?” (great line by the way). Ricochet said that he's not on RAW to talk which Drew told him to shut up (that was funny).

Braun Strowman said that he's going to be Mr Monster Money In The Bank and proposed a tag team match between himself and Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin to open this show.

I like this segment. It was short, a bit funny at times and did its job to build off Money In The Bank so far. Oh and Ricochet needs to work on his mic skills but I'm sure that he'll get better with time.

Braun Strowman and Ricochet vs Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.

This was a good tag team match. That claymore kick from Drew McIntyre outside the ring to Braun Strowman was devastating yet fantastic at the same time.

The match ended with Braun delivering the running powerslam to Baron Corbin and tagged Ricochet to deliver the shooting star press which led to their victory.

The Usos vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

WWE Photo
Apparently, The good bros are back on RAW and I'm whatever with it but I will say this, the SmackDown tag team division looks pretty weak right now in terms of competition. The match started off a bit slow but it picked up decently.

The Usos won the match with the splash Samoan style. After the match, The Usos showed us a video of Scott Dawson shaving his back while The Usos were recording it in laughter. The Revival came out to the ring and they said that it's an invasion of privacy. The Usos ended this segment by telling The Revival to welcome to their penitentiary.

Miz TV. Special Guest, Bobby Lashley.

WWE Photo
After Miz does his introduction for Bobby Lashley, out came the almighty himself without Lio Rush. Hmmmm. Bobby Lashley told The Miz to ask him questions that Bobby would like to answer while speaking in third person kinda like that wrestler turn big movie star. What's his name again?

Anyways, The Miz said that Bobby hasn't been utilized to his fullest potential and Bobby replied by saying that he's been a two-time Intercontinental champion and asked The Miz “what have you done?” What? Miz answered the question by stating his accomplishments then Lashley mentioned The Miz’s Wrestlemania 35 loss which made The Miz furious and a match between those two was made.

The Miz vs Bobby Lashley.

During the match, Shane McMahon came out and tried multiple ways to distract The Miz and all of them have failed except when a picture of The Miz’s Father was showed in the titantron and Bobby Lashley took that distraction as an advantage to deliver The Miz with the spear.

I loved Michael Cole’s call about how Shane McMahon said that what kind of man would put his hands on somebody's father yet Shane did that exact thing to Miz’s Father.

The Viking Raiders vs Lucha House Party.

WWE Photo
During The Viking Raiders’ entrance, The Lucha House Party then hits The Vikings Raiders from behind but was that enough for them to win this match? Of course not. The Viking Raiders won the match with their new finisher name, The Viking Experience.

A Moment of Bliss. Money In The Bank Announcement Edition.

Alexa announces the fourth Raw Superstar for the match…
Just like the opening segment, Alexa Bliss announces the Money In The Bank participants this time for the women's and they are Natalya, Dana Brooke, Naomi and herself in Alexa Bliss. If you wanna know what happens in that segment, basically all of those women were arguing about opportunities and just like Braun Strowman, Naomi proposed a match between herself and Alexa Bliss to which The Goddess accepted. Forgot to mention this but If there's one thing I could nitpick about this is that I wish there were qualifying matches to earn a spot in the ladder match.

After that, a second instalment of the firefly fun house and in it, Bray Wyatt was painting a burning house and then the doll named Abby with Bray Wyatt voice, told Wyatt that he's been a very bad boy. Abby the witch and Bray were done talking and called the witch a “sociopath”. That's how this segment ended and I like it.

Naomi vs Alexa Bliss.

WWE Photo
This was a meh match for me. Naomi won the match with the rare view and then a moonsault with two legs split up.

The Man Talks About Defend Her Two Belts Against Charlotte Flair and Lacy Evans.

She also reminds everyone that Ronda Rousey was unbeaten until The Man came around.
Becky Lynch was asked by Charly Caruso in the ring if she could pull it off by defending two of her championships? She answered with an obvious yes and said that she has Charlotte's number.

Becky Lynch also said that Lacy Evans made a mistake by punching somebody that likes being hit like that. Becky Lynch called out Lacy Evans and Lacy Evans wasted no time to brawl with Becky Lynch. Whatever.

Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins vs The Revival.

WWE Photo
This was an okay match. The babyface team won the match with a crucifix pin dorm Ryder to Dawson.

Sami Zayn Educates The Universe About The Toxicity Behind Closed Doors.

Sami Zayn cut a promo about the “customers are always right” argument, how people are so entitled, how people told him that if you don't like WWE just quit and how he's the critic of the critics. Really enjoyed this promo and that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio.

WWE Photo
A rematch from Wrestlemania 35 but was it good? No, but the match ended after a short match with a roll up. Hoping that the rubber match will be entertaining to watch.

Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles Match At Money In The Bank Contract Signing.

WWE Photo
Michael Cole moderates this contract signing and introduces the champ and the challenger. Michael Cole asked him what does winning the Universal Championship mean to the Phenomenal One?

AJ Styles replied by saying that it's been his goal since arriving on the red brand and there's only one phenomenal one in the WWE. Seth Rollins then said that this is not the house that AJ Styles build but rather it's Monday Night Rollins.

AJ Styles told him that The Shield wouldn't help him win this match and at Money In the Bank, he's going to be the Universal champion. Seth Rollins replied AJ's statement by saying that AJ build things up but Seth Rollins burns them down (good line).

Seth Rollins will be at his best when he bests AJ Styles. Styles then punches the champ with straight rights and delivers Seth Rollins with the phenomenal forearm through a table. This was okay but I don't think that Styles turned heel all over sudden (No shit, Omar).

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos:

Like: The opening segment and match, Michael Cole’s commentary after The Miz vs Bobby Lashley match, Firefly fun house segment, Sami Zayn's promo segment.

Didn't like: Wished there were qualifying matches, The second Moment of Bliss felt too similar to the first one aka the opening segment.

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
