Jim Cornette's Opinion On WWE's Deal With FOX.

Jim Cornette recently appeared on Talk Is Jericho about the state of wrestling (Click here to listen and download the whole thing, it's really good) and talked about a number of topics but the interesting thing about this discussion is his opinion on WWE's deal with FOX. Here's what he had to say (shout out to WrestleZone for the transcript):

"Vince just got $2 billion for a TV deal. People are looking at All In, the resurgence of New Japan, and all that, but that’s going to be the most important thing. Now people with platforms are interested in wrestling again.

There’s a lot of money in wrestling again. For a while ratings were meh, and they still are, but at the same point $2 billion, how can you argue with that? In 2011, when Sinclair Broadcasting bought Ring of Honor it instantly became the second most watched television program because it was on 60 local stations.

That was still a wide gap from WWE, and IMPACT has gone in the other direction because of their platform. It doesn’t matter how good the wrestling is, how good the show is, or the wrestling style, now platforms are interested and it doesn’t have to all be Vince."

What do I think of this? Jim Cornette is not somebody that I seek on opinions of pro wrestling on a daily basis but I do agree with him on how companies with big platforms are starting to see value in wrestling again. However, it is intriguing how Smackdown Live will deliver in terms of booking certain storylines once October of 2019 hits.

Do you agree or disagree with him? Let me know in the comments below and follow the blog for honest pro wrestling opinions. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

A Brief Guide To Pro Wrestling Websites.

So. You just become a fan of pro wrestling and have dabbled into the fandom for a bit (it's a mess ain't it?) You've just followed some news sites' social media platforms but aren't sure whether the articles they put out are accurate or not.  Well, you got the right guy to solve that problem if it's from a blog that barely gets any traction (that would be me in case you were confused).  The news we get from the medium that is pro wrestling is an integral part of the online space.  The reason being is that it's not only a great conversation starter but you could also learn something new today about the industry you love.  That doesn't mean that all of the news you see on the timeline is reliable.  I'm here to hopefully give you a guide to wrestling sites.  There are many wrestling websites out there but I wanna highlight some of the notable ones.  Okay? Here we go.  #1: Wrestling Observer Newsletter aka F4WOnline.  I can't talk about a guide t...

Money In The Bank 2020 | A Coherent Review.

The Money In The Bank show has a special in my heart because the 2018 edition was my first PPV review. The 2019 Money In The Bank PPV was enjoyable based on my review last year.  Like 2019, this year's show was fun overall but way shorter in airtime (it was 2 hours and 25 minutes in case you were curious).  The NXT Takeover shows were a lot longer. I hope WWE keeps that pace up because I don't want to fall asleep during the PPV only to rewatch most of the show again.  Quick thoughts on the Jeff Hardy vs Cesaro match on the pre-show. It was * Booker T's voice* guuud.  The New Day vs Lucha House Party vs Forgotten Sons vs The Miz And John Morrison For The SmackDown Tag Team Championship.  Gran Metalik was in my opinion, the highlight in this championship match whether it's his Spanish fly to John Morrison onto the recent of the participants or the amazing looking elbow drop from the top rope on Big E.  Unfortunately, Metalik is ...

WWE RAW 14/10/19 | My Coherent Review.

The draft aspect of this show like last Friday was underwhelming and the show itself was pretty good. Two fun matches and a very confusing plot twist in the third hour.   Also, I wanna give Impact Wrestling a big shout out because their big PPV in Bound For Glory was sold out.  That promotion has its ups and its downs that it's worth a Netflix like documentary series. And it's nice to see some positive news from them. Now, on with the review.  Becky Lynch Talks About Sasha Banks' Replacement.  The RAW women's champion started off this show by telling the audience that she was disappointed that The Man can't give Sasha Banks a beating tonight like Hell In A Cell.  Charlotte Flair came out not to counter what Lynch said but rather she wanted to be Becky's friend (that's nice). There's a saying that "don't trust a Flair" or at least a version of that saying and Charlotte immediately gave The Man the forearm which led to a ...
