RUMOUR: Asuka's English Is Causing Her Push?

Yes, people, this is an actual speculation. From Mike Johnston on the PWinsider elite audio show, he basically said that WWE doesn't have a storyline for her currently to which good old Dave Meltzer replied (Transcript via Ringside news):

 “Oh there’s tons for her right now, he just doesn’t want to — she doesn’t speak good English, I mean say what you want but that’s the bottom line. If she spoke good English I think she would be getting more. He wants you to be able to cut promos.”

What do I think of this? Look, when you're a WWE performer or a professional wrestler for that matter, having good or decent promo skills is a must but Asuka is one of those wrestlers who can be great just by her demeanour alone and if Asuka or Andrade "Cien" Almas for example in NXT has taught me is that you don't really need to be fluent in English in order to grab the fan's attention.

WWE Hell In A Cell 2020 | A Coherent Review.

WWE is continuing the streak of shorter PPVs and as a guy that lives overseas, I don't mind WWE doing this even if the fans come back to arenas.   Also, The 2020 edition of Hell In A Cell had a decisive and conclusive ending. WWE Wrestlemania: Backlash 2021 | A Coherent Review.

Wrestlemania: Backlash or as I like to call it, Backlashimania, gets an enthusiastic thumbs up for me. I enjoyed the hell out of this PPV overall.  Images via WWE.com The opening intro was narrated by the greatest of all time, Batista and it was straight badass despite the fact it was pretty much a promotion for Zack Snyder's new film, Army Of The Dead.  If you've read my about page, then you'll know that I ain't talking about Zack Snyder movies because his fans are…… never mind.  Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair vs Asuka For The RAW Women's Championship.  Charlotte with the Cruella De Vil inspired ring gear was to quote Dolph Ziggler's old theme song, "perfection". The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system.
