WWE Smackdown 5/11/21 | A Coherent Review.

Smackdown this week was pretty enjoyable which hasn't been the case for several weeks now.

Roman Reigns Is Back At The Opening Segment.

Roman Reigns said, "I take one week off and Smackdown sucks. It's almost as bad as RAW".

If this statement was viewed by young wrestling fans on a Twitch livestream, they'll spam the word, "BASED! BASED!"

Jimmy Uso was fed up that Xavier Woods is the king and how there's one true head of the table.

Out came The New Day and they proposed a challenge to Jimmy Uso. If Uso defeats Xavier Woods then Woods will acknowledge the tribal chief.

If Mr James Uso over here loses then Uso should acknowledge Woods' kingship.

I say "when" because the king was right on the money regarding who wins his match with Jimmy Uso.

After the match, Jimmy was about to put his knee down for Woods until Roman Reigns gave The New Day an a** whopping.

It's crazy how a character addition like Roman Reigns can DRASTICALLY change the entire scenery of this feud.

The money match here isn't a Bloodline vs The New Day but rather Xavier Woods vs Roman Reigns with the narrative of "who's the true leader of the Smackdown brand".

If you think about it, Both guys have a reason to face each other.

One wants to legitimize his kingship by facing the top champion while the other wants to get rid of "the true king" because he's the tribal chief.

If that isn't minimal brilliant storytelling, I don't know what is.

Shayna Baszler vs Naomi.

A black woman winning? Ahhhhh, no!

Sonya Deville's "white woman named Susan" behaviour didn't work this time as Naomi defeated Baszler with the roll-up.

Minutes after that, Sonya was like, "uh, you used the ropes so technically, that would be a rope break" and restarted the match. And, guess who won? Shayna Baszler.

This is the "groundhog day" of wrestling segments in the sense that I've seen this many times before. There's nothing about all of these scenes that have stood out.

While yes, I was intrigued the first few times, the many times that have happened since, has decreased my intrigue. In other words, it's getting tiresome.

Either turn Naomi heel (which I think is the right move instead of turning Shotzi heel) or do something different worthwhile for Naomi!

A video package highlighting Xia Li. I definitely see this going well for her, am I right?

Speaking of debuts, "the white side always talking" Kalya Braxton interviewed Ridge Holland and he wanted to meet his idol, Sheamus.

This can either go pretty decently or in the usual worst of circumstances from world wrestling entertainment, turn this storyline into Stephen King's Misery type of angle.

Mansoor And Cesaro vs Angel Garza And Humberto Carrillo.

Carrillo And Garza took their in-ring awareness as an advantage to defeat Mansoor and Cesaro in a solid bout.

Putting Angel and Humberto together as a tag team, is the best-case scenario for two guys who've been a victim of underutilization.

Shotzi layed out her motivations as to why she attacked Sasha Banks and it is due to the amount of bad luck she has gotten like losing a tag partner, "losing support from the WWE universe" and losing the biggest match of her career last week (missed the part where she lost her last name).

Her motives made sense yet I still think turning her heel was the bad outcome.

Mustafa Ali wanted Ricochet to partner up as a team and Ricochet was like, "uh remember Mansoor?"

Ricochet isn't the brightest but he does have a point there.

Another backstage segment happened in which Sami Zayn gave some advice regarding the overall appearance to Aliyah.

Taking advice from losers? Pffft, What do you think she is, the XFL?

Drew McIntyre' Open Challenge Time.

The challenge was answered by Ricochet and they had a good match which isn't shocking considering that they've had fantastic bouts before.

And of course, the Scotsmen wins with the claymore.

The Viking Raiders vs Happy Corbin And Madcap Moss.

Before the match, Madcap Moss showed off his "comedic talents" by making a reference to body odour with Vikings.

It's bad enough that I have to hear Max Caster's rhymes that makes The Rock's verse in the Tech N9ne song sound like Nas' "Ether".

The match ended via a count-out because the heel team left the ring and didn't want to take the clean L.

And the final segment of the night before the main event was when Hit Row was roasting Sami Zayn, calling Sami Zayn "Sami sucks".

Get it? Because "Zayn" means beauty or a sense of wonder in Arabic and they called him "Sami sucks" instead?

Side note, the group just isn't the same without B Fab.

What a terrible thing WWE has done on top of releasing other people due to "budget cuts' ' meanwhile WWE's CFO made over a million dollars. Imagine defending that? Couldn't be me.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The opening and final act of the episode, Drew McIntyre vs Ricochet, putting Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza together is the right call.

Didn't like: Naomi/Sonya Deville and Shayna segments are the "groundhog day" of wrestling segments, Hit Row ain't the same without B Fab.

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
