The 5 News Week: First EVER NXT Takeover 2.0!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor pro wrestling news, rumours and spoilers of the week that I don't have time to do it separately.  Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.

First EVER NXT Takeover 2.0!?

Ever since NXT: colour vomit edition rolled around a few months ago, it seemed like the brand was moving away from its traditional Takeover specials that fans know and appreciate……. until now?

A man who will always be smarter than me, Branding Thurston of wrestlenomics, has noted on Twitter that the "Tryna get rid of all you haters and you busters" brand has a Takeover show coming up next month specifically December 5th.

However, Thurston isn't sure whether WWE would retain the "Takeover" name going forward.

I'm interested as to how the Takeover specials are set up following the reboot.

Will the standard of the NXT 2.0 episodes (which has been a hit or miss for me) decrease the usual A* Quality Takeovers in the near future?

Will have to wait and see.

WWE Teaching NXT Talent The PRODUCTION Side Of The Shows!?

Speaking of the brand that is clearly on the same level as Smackdown and RAW (explains the number of distraction finishes).

A news piece from Fightful Select (or "Whiteful" if you're an unfunny and miserable f**king f**k) highlighted that WWE has been teaching NXT performers the production aspect of the industry.

A skill is a skill regardless so I think this is cool.

Jeff Hardy Coming To Steve Austin's Broken Skull Sessions According To Reports.

Another noteworthy guest in Jeff Hardy on Steve Austin's show?

Well, WWE Network News thinks so which is a reliable source when it comes to news pertaining to the WWE Network side of things (Americans, please *sigh* for  Peacock).

Alex Kane On Dan Lambert Negotiating His MLW Contract.

Andrew Thompson of Post Wrestling (aka the guy that Chris Hero likes very much) recently spoke with MLW's Alex Kane in promotion of the company's War Chamber show.

During the discussion, Kane has revealed how Dan Lambert (the annoying white dude on AEW? Yea, HIM) helped negotiate his MLW deal (via POST Wrestling):

"And then with signing with MLW and Dan Lambert negotiating my contract, that was pretty awesome."

Say what you want about Cody Rhodes in 20 years, at least the guy played a role in a talented black pro wrestler signing in with a notable promotion.

Indie Wrestling Musician John Kiernan On Creating Theme Songs For Wrestlers like Mercedes Martinez.

And finally. Last Minute Wrestling Podcast's Frank Mandolini (aka the Italian Tony D'Angelo WISHED he was) spoke with pro wrestling musician/composer John Kiernan

In it, he has shared his perspective on how he approaches creating theme songs for the likes of Mercedes Martinez (from the press release):

"She loved the theme she used in the Mae Young Classic, so this was a new evolved version. What made that song pop? What were the musical elements? That one was more digital, and I went to the Spanish road with a descending progression. A lot of the music you associate with it has the same descending chord progression [...] and my approach was to reflect Mercedes Martinez [and her heritage] with the music.”

And in my opinion, John nailed his vision because God damn, Mercedes' theme song is on par with her Mae Young Classic one in terms of catchiness.

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy? Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown 4/2/22 | A Coherent Review.

Gotta be honest guys, this episode didn't do it for me.  Besides the announcement of Ronda Rousey challenging Charlotte Flair for the blue women's belt at Wrestlemania as well as another challenge proposed by Goldberg aka NoBerg to the tribal chief, this, like last week's show, was as skippable as an anime filler episode.  Paul Heyman Was Like, "F**k That Brock Guy!"  Brock and Paul legit need some counselling because they've broken up and reunited together like my relationship with the Call of Duty franchise. To quote Gordon Ramsey, "DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!"  All lame banter aside, Paul Heyman's promos before Goldberg's appearance was the only good thing throughout the entire show.  As far as how I feel about the idea of Goldberg facing Roman Reigns at the upcoming Elimination Chamber show, major Ls on this one.   Ricochet vs Ridge Holland.  Yay, the "one on one match that later turned into a tag match" cliche. The difference is t...
