WWE Smackdown 17/9/21 | A Coherent Review.

The blue brand executed an okay 2-hour program.

I ain't gonna ask you why and then slap my head multiple times because this isn't that type of review.

Paul Heyman Had Some Comments Regarding The Demon.

Those comments were about how Finne Baylor is afraid of Roman Reigns because he had to tap into his inner demons in order to face the Tribal chief.

Big E's music hits and after seeing the new WWE champion making his way to the squared circle, the word "intrigued" came to mind.

Oh, and the Irishman himself also showed up for reasons I do not mind because I too want that demon coming if you know what I mean.

All lame jokes aside, I thought the segment wasn't too special in its structure and format but it did spark a bit of a question on whether this is the end of the second brand split era.

The answer is I highly doubt it. The 6 man tag team match between the Bloodline and The New Day was a path to increase the overall ratings by just a little bit but that's just me (don't forget a Draft coming soon).

All of this was followed by a tag team match between The Usos, Big E and Finn Balor. And the WWE champion and the number one contender for the universal championship won that match.

Normally, I would be mad about the tag team champions losing like that but in this case, you have a number one contender (that WWE has to make him look as good as possible) and a wrestler that just won the prestigious big belt.

So, the decision was hard from the creative overlords' end and I can't blame them here.

You know what's also hard? Every time I se……………. (GAMER WORD, STOP IT!).

Sticking to the universal championship scene, Paul Heyman to Roman Reigns was like, "I swear to God, bro. I didn't know that Brock returned at SummerSlam or when he's going to show up next."

By the way, Paul Heyman's backstage interview with Kalya Braxton had me DYING!

Heyman channelled his inner Jamie Lee Curtis due to how f'ing scared this man is.

Liv Morgan and Toni Storm vs Carmella And Zelina Vega.

The match ended in a count-out because Liv Morgan broke Carmella's nose and Morgan doesn't care about that because she challenged Carmella to a match at Extreme Rules.

Cool, I guess.

Happy Corbin didn't show his happy side as he delivered a series of attacks on Kevin Owens.

So, what did I learn from this? Well, is that being insanely wealthy will turn you into an a**hole. In other words, nothing happened.

Rick Boogs vs Robert Roode.

The match was whatever. It ended with another W from Rick Boogs to which they took a beating from Commander Azzez and Apollo Crews because your Nigerian royalty wants a rematch for the IC belt.

Do I want to see yet another rematch between those two guys? Nope. Why? Because they're meaningless.

Seth Rollins Was Like, "I Blame YOU For Making Me Going Extreme On Edge"

I was watching this entire segment like, "Kylo Ren, is that YOU!?"

This promo screams a third in their two-match feud at Extreme Rules and I do not mind it considering the encounter match last week was really good.

Finn Balor unveils the demon in a promo. Nice.

Meanwhile, Naomi wanted Sonya Deville to pay attention and give the former 2-time Smackdown women's champion a freaking match.

That was probably the best dialogue execution I've seen throughout this episode. She just cut that promo with f**king finesse. Not gonna lie, that was a star-making performance.

Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn.

A match so predictable, my autocorrect filled in the "Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn" headline above.

Sami wins yet again. Coolio.

Bianca Belair's Homecoming Celebration.

Belair was celebrating her accomplishments in Knoxville, TN until Becky Lynch showed up in a black person's business.

Belair then tricked Becky Lynch's handshake into a KOD but Lynch countered that with a man handle slam.

Who says WWE doesn't make their hometown performer look good, am I right?

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Naomi's backstage promo, Paul Heyman's paranoia.

Didn't like: The second and last part of the Homecoming segment, Dominik Mysterio and Sami Zayn AGAIN, Why a rematch between Apollo Crews and Shinsuke Nakamura?

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
