WWE Smackdown 16/7/21 | A Coherent Review.

Yay. Crowds are back which means *in the tone of BackStreet* What chants boys are back!

All lame jokes aside, it feels weird to see a full crowd once again in WWE programming.

It almost felt like it was a new invention and not something we've had for what it feels like an eternity now.

And WWE actually tried here because this episode was enjoyable as a whole.

Vinnie Mac with his uncreative, fickle a**, welcomed the most oppressed group (beside gamers) in human history aka wrestling fans to SmackDown.

Roman Reigns And The Usos vs Edge, Rey And Dominik Mysterio.

The live audience got electric for the Rated R superstar and I can't say that I blame them.

Speaking of the fans, they were into the bout until it ended via a roll-up from Jey Uso to Rey Mysterio.

All 3 guys then attacked each other in a post-match beatdown but Edge stood tall in the end.

This is one of those bouts where the crowd made it into an 8 out of 10 instead of a 5 out of 10 (kinda like Rock and Hogan at Wrestlemania 18).

While Edge was talking about winning the blue belt, Seth Rollins pulled a Jared Leto laugh throughout Edge's entire promo.

Just give me this feud, guys! I'm f**king ready.

Finn Balor Is Back On The Main Roster

Sami Zayn keeps on spewing the conspiracy theory that the corporate overlords have for Zayn because why not, am I right?

Out came Finnie Baylor and God, it's so nice to see the fans interact with Balor's entrance once again.

Oh, and Balor attacked Sami Zayn.

I'm hoping that the NXT version of Finn Balor is being showcased on the blue brand.

Because Finn's character before he came back to NXT was so bland, the generic create a wrestler from the WWE games has more personality.

Shotzi And Nox vs Natalya And Tamina.

A rematch that I honestly do not care about.

Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega were on commentary and they were trading "valley girl" impressions which led to a brawl.

As a result, the women's tag team champions lost to the newcomers once more.

The tag champs tried to attack Liv Morgan but Morgan somehow took out both women.

The creative overlords are convincing the audience that Morgan might take the briefcase and you know what? I'm all for it.

The commentary part of the match was annoyingly bad.

Bianca Belair vs Carmella For The SmackDown Women's Championship.

Hey. l like this match. Carmella showcased her technical wrestling moves that were executed with perfection. The KOD was how the champion retained the gold. Again, a fun match.

Cesaro vs Otis.

Before this match took place, Alpha Academy said that they smelled fear but according to Cesaro, he smelled some bull.

Cesaro's trash talk didn't pay off as he was taken down by the big man, Otis.

With insults like that from Cesaro, I would've done the same if I was Otis.

The match itself was fine. Otis destroyed Cesaro with a middle rope splash which kills the "big man misses a rope move" cliche and I love it.

Paul Heyman was about to cut a mean promo until Big E ruined the moment. That was unintentionally hilarious.

In an in-ring segment, Baron Corbin was talking about how he basically went from Jeff Bezos to Billy Ray Valentine in Trading Places.

Kevin Owens showed up and does what rich people do and that is, give an FU to people struggling financially in Baron Corbin.

This Corbin storyline screams "swipe right on Tinder" in that it's not interesting.

Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Big E.

Speaking of the price fighter. This was an enjoyable main event encounter. Seth Rollins prevailed in the end.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins vs Big E vs Shinsuke Nakamura, Bianca Belair vs Carmella, the opening 6 man match, THE CROWD.

Didn't like: The Baron Corbin storyline, Zelina Vega and Liv Morgan on commentary.

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
