The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Kyle O'Reilly And Finn Balor Face To Face Confrontation, Cody's First In-Ring Promo In Weeks.

The NXT before a Takeover has mostly been a skippable show so I shouldn’t be surprised that I didn’t miss much this morning.

The best part about the show was Finn Balor's face to face confrontation with Kylie O'Reilly (which was filmed, by the way) and the video package that was related to the NXT title bout at Takeover: 31.

AEW however, was a bit better but I wouldn't call it fantastic. It was at least more exceptional than NXT.

For that, all elite wrestling's flagship program is my favourite show this week.

(A bit of a heads up, the recap contains a lot of the words “okay” and “fine”).

NXT

Highlights.

Kyle O'Reilly Prime Target.

This was a video highlighting Kyle O'Reilly's career in pro wrestling, his connection with UE going back YEARS and how the NXT championship match with Balor means to him.

A great WWE highlight video? Shocker. The thing I especially like about this video is that Adam Cole was so supportive of Kylie O'Reilly.

The reason being is that we rarely get to see a leader of a group happy for one of its members.

It doesn't follow the cliche trope of a jealous person betrays his friend which is why I appreciate The New Day so much.

Kyle O'Reilly And Finn Balor Face To Face Confrontation.

Speaking of Kyle O'Reilly, he has proved himself to be a worthy challenger based on that segment alone.

His confidence in this brought this feud to an entirely different level. Can't wait for this match Sunday.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Shotzi Blackheart vs Dakota Kai - The match that opened this week's episode of NXT was fine.

Blackheart took an awful landing on the ring apron. Hoping she's okay.

Shotzi took the distraction from Dakota Kai as an opportunity to pick up the victory.

Isiah Swerve Scott And Santos Escobar Double Interview Ahead Of Takeover: 31 - Both guys stated their reasons as to why they will walk out of Takeover: 31 as cruiserweight championship.

This segment was a bit too long than it needed to be.

But, it was meh. The match between Scott and Escobar should be fun.

A Cameron Grimes Stepping Stone Invitational - Grimes hosted a stepping stone invitational aka an open challenge and he squashed one local competitor.

Ridge Holland stepped up and he relentlessly attacked Grimes that led to the match ending in a disqualification.

Ridge looked like a beast as per usual. This entire thing? It was okay.

Kushida vs Tony Nese - After he easily defeated Nese, *ugh* Velveteen Dream showed up via the titantron basically saying that he'll win the match against Kushida.

Cool.

Adam Cole vs Austin Theory - Pretty Much, Cole wanted Austin Theory to come to the ring and face him to a match or the rest of UE will beat him up.

Because, earlier in the night, Austin was talking sh*t about Kylie O'Reilly.

The bout itself was just there. Cole wins with the last shot.

Xia Li Frustrated About Her Loss From Kayden Carter - Will see if Xia Li's eventual heel turn does something to elevate her or not.

Damian Priest And Io Shirai vs Johnny Gargano And Candice LeRae - I just saw two of the Takeover matches in one match on free TV which is something NXT never does and it's more practised on the main roster.

The power couple prevailed with the DDT from Gargano to Damian Priest.

The match was skippable just like this entire episode of NXT.

AEW

Highlights.

Cody's First In-Ring Promo In Weeks And……

It was amazing. The formerly "Dasha bot" interviewed the returning Cody and he pretty much said that he's been thinking about his 3-minute loss against Brodie Lee wherever he goes.

Dasha asked him a final question regarding whether he accepts Brodie Lee challenge for the TNT title in a dog-collar match.

He said no and walked away.

But then, he immediately came back and clarified his "no" answer telling the world that no as in no regrets and no looking back.

Which means that Lee's TNT title match is on.

The segment ended with a brawl between the challenger Cody and the champion, Mr Brodie Lee.

A brawl on AEW Dynamite and it didn't end this week's show? Well, I'm surprised.

What wasn't surprising was how good Cody is as a talker and this promo is no exception.

This actually feels like a world title feud even though it isn't.

Can't wait for the TNT championship match next week.

FTR vs SCU In Scorpio Sky And Frank Kazarian For The AEW World Tag Team Championship.

A good-old-fashioned fun tag team match. It isn't the flashiest match but it doesn't have to be.

It's good yet it has a very simplistic feel if that makes sense?

With the help of Tully Blanchard, FTR retained the tag belts with a suplex that was followed by Tully holding on Scorpio Sky's legs.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Ricky Starks vs Darby Allin - A decent way to open AEW Dynamite on the final day of September.

That spear from Ricky was fantastic though. Allin takes the W with the Senton.

Isiah Kassidy vs Chris Jericho - Another decent effort of the night.

Chris Jericho defeated Kassidy with the Judas effect to which Jericho and Jake Hager were fighting with Luther and Serpentico.

Miro And Kip Sabian Plans For Sabian's Bachelors Party - I’m not a huge fan of the Kip Sabian and Miro pairing so this scene didn’t do much for me.

Orange Cassidy vs Number 10 - The way Cassidy wins with that piledriver looked brutal af. The match was aight though.

MJF Presenting Some Gifts To Inner Circle Members - The reason? It's kinda obvious.

Based on that segment, MJF wants to join The Inner Circle and Chris looked like he's thinking about it.

Jericho did mention in an episode of his podcast (from Sportskeeda) in June that he wanted MJF to join the Inner Circle. They’re giving this a slow build so I’m keeping an eye on this.

Britt Baker vs Red Velvet - This is the closest thing to an NXT influence on AEW in the sense that it was a match in which the jobber got some offence.

The doctor wins with a stomp of some sort.

Jon Moxley vs An Opponent Of Eddie Kingston's Choosing - Eddie Kingston looked like he was in a rap music video back in the 2000s.

The opponent Eddie chose was The Butcher.

Moxley is still the champion thanks to his headlock submission. Not gonna lie, the match was boring.

The question is, what are some of the highlights of both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, I gotta get some sleep so stay safe smarks.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
