The 5 News Week: WWE Reportedly Looking To Make Damian Priest "A Big Star", WWE Supposed To Headline A PPV In The UK!?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately.

Sorry for not posting this on the usual day of Sunday yesterday. I literally wrote this piece and then, I fell asleep.

Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.

WWE Reportedly Looking To Make Damian Priest "A Big Star".

The opening act of NXT Takeover: 31 saw Damian Priest defeating Johnny Gargano, retaining the North American championship in the process.

And now, the black and gold brand is looking to mould the North American champ as a "big star" given that they see a lot of potential in Damian.

At least that's what Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio this week because of course he said it (from sescoops).

Candice LaRae Done With The NXT Women's Title Picture?

Continuing with the NXT theme. Candice LeRae recently lost to Io Shirai for the NXT women's title at Takeover: 31.

In the Sports Illustrated's recap for the show written by Justin Barrasso, he mentioned that they're "no plans" to continue the feud between Shirai and Candice LeRae.

(Monday Night RAW looking at this decision like, "that's how you end a feud? I thought it was more complicated than that").

Barrasso did say at the end that she's "now effectively out of the title picture."

This got me thinking whether she and Johnny Gargano are moving to the main roster.

Night one of The Draft happened and we saw nothing regarding the power couple joining RAW or Smackdown.

Maybe they're saving a surprise for the final day of The Draft on RAW in a few days?

An Update Regarding Finn Balor's Jaw Injury.

The final NXT news of the week comes from an update regarding Finn Balor's jaw injury and based on speculations, it is not as bad as WWE played out to be.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that the jaw injury isn't false but the injury report video did quote "made to be worse than it is" (from Wrestling Inc).

Pretty much, NXT exaggerated the injury a bit.

I ain't no doctor however, I did some research about jaw injuries and based on my understanding, a typical broken jaw injury recovery time is a month or 2.

Not every jaw injuries are the same so keep that in mind.

Bruce Prichard On How Vince McMahon Sr Dealt With Talent.

Yes, this is an old graphic I used last year.

In the latest episode of Bruce Prichard's Something To Wrestle about podcast, Prichard brought up a story of how Vince McMahon Sr dealt with some of the performers back in the day (from Wrestling Inc):

"What was unique to Vince Sr. is when you came in, and you started with Vince, you started-- and for the most part, you also had your ending date the day that you started," Prichard added.

"So, you knew when you were going to start. You knew how long you were going to be there.

You had a general idea of how much money you would make, but you also knew when it was going to come to an end.

And you would work your way into the territory, get over, and then you would work your way out of the territory, and that was one way that Vince [Sr.] was able to keep that talent fresh all the time while coming through there."

I am not the biggest fan of Bruce's podcast (looking at Bruce's quote about Booker T's 2003 storyline with Triple H not being about race).

I will say, this recent episode was a good history lesson for wrestling fans that do not know much about Vince McMahon's father.

WWE Supposed To Headline A PPV In The UK!?

Inside The Ropes recently put out a story about how Drew McIntyre was supposed to face Tyson Fury in the main event of a WWE PPV that will take place in the UK.

Now, why didn't this happen? The pandemic, that's why.

The article goes on to state that WWE actually spoke to both guys about the idea but isn't sure whether the PPV itself is going to be brand new or not.

It's been 17 years since main roster WWE had a show over there and honestly, a main roster WWE UK show would've been spectacular.

(I'm sure that the match between Drew McIntyre and Tyson Fury will be great because that Fury and Braun Strowman match was such a classic, right?).

It's really odd that it hasn't happened since 2003 given that WWE tours in the UK area every year (with the exception of this year of course).

Another plan being nixed due to current circumstances.

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy? Anyways, stay safe smarks.

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE Wrestlemania 37 Night 2 | A Coherent Review.

The second and final night of Wrestlemania 37 was to quote a popular word, "mid".  A few good wrestling matches were the highlight of the night but even then, it didn't stand out as hard as some of the matches the previous night.  ( Check out the review of night 1 here ).  Images via WWE.com The hosts of this year's Wrestlemania made their presence once again and the Hulkster was booed out of the building. That is awesome to hear #F**kHulkHogan.  Randy Orton vs "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. Randy Orton with white trunks just doesn't feel right to me but it is what it is, I guess.  The Fiend's entrance looked f'ing cool even though the dude has healing powers now like he's Katara from the Last Airbender or some sh*t.  Oh, and the stupid red lights are back! I'm so, so, so, so happy! Just when I thought that WWE got rid of the stupid red lights last year.   Alexa Bliss kinda looked like Senua From the Hell Blade game with the black liquid dripped...

WWE Wrestlemania: Backlash 2021 | A Coherent Review.

Wrestlemania: Backlash or as I like to call it, Backlashimania, gets an enthusiastic thumbs up for me. I enjoyed the hell out of this PPV overall.  Images via WWE.com The opening intro was narrated by the greatest of all time, Batista and it was straight badass despite the fact it was pretty much a promotion for Zack Snyder's new film, Army Of The Dead.  If you've read my about page, then you'll know that I ain't talking about Zack Snyder movies because his fans are…… never mind.  Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair vs Asuka For The RAW Women's Championship.  Charlotte with the Cruella De Vil inspired ring gear was to quote Dolph Ziggler's old theme song, "perfection". The opening bout was fast-paced, high octane action that didn't have a slow/dull moment.  All of these women utilized quick grapples and strikes to their advantage.  Charlotte was this close to capturing the title but she was pushed to the outside, nailed the riptide to Asuka and that...
