WWE SummerSlam 2020 | A Coherent Review

Not gonna lie, that tweet was legit funny. This is THE coherent and honest review for the 2020 edition of the annual SummerSlam event.

This show was fantastic. No bad or dull matches, great storytelling, certain plot developments that will entice you to watch the shows to find out what happens next.

Just some good 3 hours of straight-up awesome professional wrestling.

Who would've thought that a main roster show is better than a Takeover (which you can click here to read my review for it)?

Also, thank you, Renee Young, for being great at what you do as a host.

She will certainly be missed in WWE.

PRESHOW: Apollo Crews vs MVP For The United States Championship.

WWE Photo

"We ball in. Straight up ball in". MVP Just brought back the theme song that he briefly used before he left the company in 2010. The Hurt Business got some cool looking merch too.

Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to pick up his 3rd US title because he lost with the pop-up sitout powerbomb from APOOOOLLLLO!

The match was okay for what it was.

MAIN SHOW: Bayley vs Asuka For The SmackDown Women's Championship.

WWE Photo

Earlier in the match, Asuka hooked in the Asuka lock and Bayley escaped but barely.

Bayley took a nasty DDT on the outside from the empress of tomorrow.

The match concluded when Asuka gave Sasha Banks the hip attack on the ring apron and Bayley rolled Asuka up to retain the SmackDown women's championship.

Out of the head-scratching finishes that this entire saga got, this is the one that I do not mind.

A good way to start off this PPV already.

The Street Profits vs Angel Garza And Andrade For The RAW Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

The match that I cared about the least and yet, both men delivered a solid one.

The Street Profits retained the titles with from the heavens to Angel Garza.

In an interview with Kalya Braxton, Bayley and Banks said that their upcoming victories will be a clean sweep.

Bayley literally used a broom while saying the word clean sweep. That made me laugh.

Sonya Deville vs Mandy Rose. Loser Leaves WWE In A No DQ Match.

WWE Photo

This was aight. Rose somehow won the match and I was surprised, to be honest.

There's no way that Sonya is off TV for more than a month, right?

You got Otis (who I forgot is the Money In The Bank briefcase holder) celebration with Mandy and she even did the caterpillar.

Seth Rollins vs Dominik Mysterio In A Street Fight.

WWE Photo

Now, this is the match that I'm curious as to how it will turn out. Did this street fight actually pull off a fight? Heck yea, dude.

This was a match of the year contender. An absolute banger of an encounter.

By the way, Seth Rollins' ring gear that was inspired by none other than Rey Mysterio's Halloween Havoc 1997 attire? Flames.

Dominik did some impressive looking series of arm drags that will make The Rock proud.

Mysterio's Hijo then used his not so secret weapon, the kendo stick to inflict damage on Seth Rollins' back.

The same has happened to Dominik later in the fight.

WWE Photo

Seth Rollins did the always fantastic, superplex followed by a falcon arrow and Dominik kicked out.

Dominik delivering the frog splash that is touching af.

Seth Rollins was about to do something to Dominik's mom but Dominik himself prevented that from happening.

WWE Photo

While Rey Mysterio was handcuffed to the ring ropes, Seth Rollins delivered the stomp to Dominik Mysterio and Rollins walked out of that street fight victorious.

What a night of f'ing in-ring debuts. First Pat McAfee and Now Dominik Mysterio? I am satisfied.

Asuka vs Sasha Banks For The RAW Women's Championship.

WWE Photo

During the match, Sasha Banks delivered a nasty sunset flip to Asuka from the ring apron to the outside floor.

Asuka regained her RAW women's championship with the Asuka lock.

I like this move mainly for one reason and that is, when Bayley and Sasha face each other for the blue women's belt, the narrative of "Sasha helps Bayley be successful but Bayley doesn't do the same for Sasha" is slowly building.

Will see how this turns out.

Drew McIntyre vs Randy Orton For The WWE Championship.

WWE Photo

We got the dripping pyro for Randy Orton while he does his signature pose which screams the Mid-2000s.

The bout was decent. Drew is still WWE champion with the crucifix pin. I don't know if this finish leads to a rematch.

The better question is, if this indeed is the end of this feud, I don't know where Drew McIntyre goes from here.

Keith Lee will make his debut on RAW tomorrow fresh off his loss at NXT Takeover: 30.

If I had the option of whether Keith goes to RAW or Smackdown, it's honestly Smackdown as they're lacking some babyfaces in the main event scene.

However, I am just nitpicking.

Braun Strowman vs "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt In A Falls Count Anywhere Match.

WWE Photo

The match itself? Okay. But, the ending? Well, that is something, to say the least.

As Bray Wyatt was raising the universal title belt up, a guy speared the crap out of him. That guy is Roman Reigns.

Reigns then speared Braun Strowman on the outside because why not?

Reigns posed with the universal championship to end the 33rd edition of SummerSlam.

Hey, I'm happy to see the big dog back and ready to destroy some sh*t.

For the first time in forever, I'm actually looking forward to talking about Smackdown later this week.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Bayley vs Asuka, Asuka vs Sasha Banks, the ending, Dominik vs Seth Rollins, Street Profits vs Angel Garza and Andrade.

Didn't like: Nothing.

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 | My Coherent Review.

Man, I'm impressed with WWE in terms of PPVs as of late because overall, this was a fantastic show in my opinion with great matches but the crowd was dead for most of the show so that sucks.  I finally watched the pre-show match between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura before I went to bed because the show aired at 2 am where I live and it was okay.  By the way, how interesting is it when on last year’s Extreme Rules show, Shinsuke Nakamura won the United States championship and now this year’s show, he won the intercontinental title. Also, it's funny that the intercontinental championship was the main event on last's year show and on this year's Extreme Rules PPV, it's on the preshow.  Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre vs Roman Reigns and The Undertaker.  Mike Rome did better in announcing "The Best In the world" this time than on RAW. Mike Rome's announcement a few weeks ago sounded like that one friend that thinks he/she knows how to ...

NXT Takeover: In Your House 2020 | A Coherent Review.

NXT Takeover: In Your House is like the rest of the Takeover shows, a fantastic 2 hours of professional wrestling.  What makes this show special is the additional nostalgia like how the show started with the NXT WWF inspired intro, the ice cream commercial narrated by William Regal doing his best Lord Alferd Hayes impression, icopro commercial and last but not least, Todd Pettengill.  This is a show that I'm definitely rewatching in years to come.  Mia Yim, Tegan Nox And Shotzi Blackheart vs Raquel Gonzalez, Candice LeRae And Dakota Kai.  A decent opening match. During the match, Nox did a Molly Holly top rope on to every competitor in the match.  Yim tried to give LeRae some Seoul Food but LeRae reversed that into a suplex. Several minutes later, Shotzi did a Salida Del Sol of some sort on Gonzalez to which Nox delivered the shiniest wizard on Kai and won the match.  Finn Balor vs Damian Priest. I actually thought that the closing mo...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Holy Sh*t, The Revival Are All Elite, Matt Riddle vs Timothy Thatcher In A Unique Steel Cage Match.

Both shows had its weak points but overall, that was an enjoyable 4 hours of professional wrestling television. I personally liked AEW Dynamite this week.  From an awesome women's match with Shida and Christi Jaynes to The Revival showing up, AEW managed to give me a solid episode and successfully furthered their storylines to next week's exciting show.  NXT   Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Kushida vs Drake Maverick vs Jake Atlas. Triple Threat Match Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.  What a way to kick off this episode of NXT, am I right? Atlas delivered the rainbow DDT but Kushida broke Jake's pin.  Speaking of Kushida, he nailed the armbar submission, however, Drake pinned Atlas because Atlas' shoulders were on the mat and will meet El Hijo Del Fantasma for the finals next week.  I don't know if Drake is rehired or he's going to be rehired but Maverick has a big ta...
