WWE Smackdown 21/8/20 | A Coherent Review.

Thunder dome. Thunder dome. THUNDER DOMMMMMME!

Never mind the fact that the Thunderdome name was a reference of the third Mad Max movie that literally went over my head.

I thought the crowd that surrounded the arena with the led strips didn't add anything to the overall presence.

I will say, the production for the Thunderdome was A1.

As far as my thoughts on the episode of Smackdown? It was decent. Just decent.

Side note, there will be no 5 News Week tomorrow as I'm going to post an AEW as well as an NXT Takeover: XXX review.

Mr McMahon Opens The Show And Sh*t Goes Down.

WWE Photo

Vinne Mac kicked off the episode of Smackdown inside the THUNDERDOME welcoming everyone watching the show.

The lights went down and The Fiend's music played and out walks The Fiend to the ring while Vince stands in the middle of the ring.

Braun Strowman showed up and he as well as The Fiend had a bit of a staredown until the group known as Retribution surrounded each other ringside.

The Fiend then basically said "f**k this sh*t, I'm out" with that bye wave and had the big man fight the group all by himself.

To which, Braun got some assistance in the SmackDown locker room.

However, after the Retribution beatdown was taken care of, Strowman decided to attack Drew Gulak and Jey Uso and left the ring.

This felt like two segments wrapped into one and it somehow gelled well.

The thing that I especially liked about this is how the heels and babyfaces were side by side fighting against Retribution.

For some reason, I appreciate it when both sides are a unit despite their differences.

Big E vs Sheamus.

The opening match was fine. Outside the ring was covered with the superstars for obvious reasons.

In other words, it is not a lumberjack match, thank God.

Due to Sheamus' distraction from the brawl between Matt Riddle and King Corbin, Big E rolled the Celtic Warrior up for the victory.

Jeff Hardy is seen in the trainer’s room, having some sort of a knee injury but he tells the trainer to give him a knee brace.

The Lucha House Party vs Cesaro And Shinsuke Nakamura For The SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

The Lucha House Party were heading to the ring but they were attacked from behind by The champions themselves, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.

This match was good although I would prefer the encounter to last just a bit longer.

Lince at one point, delivered a perfect springboard stunner onto Shinsuke Nakamura.

The match concluded when Dorado reversed the powerbomb from Cesaro that was followed by a sunset flip pin from the Swiss cyborg to retain the titles.

After the match, Lince Dorado and Kalisto were arguing with each other.

God, I hope they don't break up because one, it's a tired old trope that doesn't benefit in the end and two, Smackdown barely got tag teams.

In a video shot in a separate angle, it looks like AJ Styles was the one to damage Jeff Hardy's knee with his leg.

In an interview with Sarah schreiber , Mandy Rose faced directly at the camera, telling Sonya Deville that she sees the same Sonya Deville that had her back inside Sonya.

Bayley And Sasha Banks Interviewed By Corey Graves.

Graves asked them pretty much about the sudden tension between the golden role models.

Out came Naomi and she wanted to face both Bayley and Sasha Banks in a singles match.

Graves gave the idea of a beat the clock challenge and Naomi liked the concept so much that it turned into a reality.

The glow faced the boss first and the match ended in 3:39 with an L from Naomi with the bank statement.

The question is, did Bayley beat the clock? She actually didn't because she lost with the rear view.

The golden role models were then attacked by the empress of every title, Asuka.

Is Naomi's W leading to a title match at Payback?

There's another side of me that is really scratching my head regarding Bayley's loss given that she's facing Asuka in a few days. Bayley has been taking a lot of losses as of losses and I don't know how to feel about that.

Sonya Deville slapped Dana Brooke after a talk about Brooke's concern over Deville.

By the way, my thoughts are with Sonya Deville. I'm hoping she's okay and safe.

Sonya Deville revealed that she'll face Mandy Rose in a no DQ match and the loser will leave W. W. E. Good promo.

The right thing to do is to postpone the match but that, unfortunately, ain't happening.

Nikki Cross in a promo says that something terrible will happen. Okay. Who knows where they're leading with this?

AJ Styles vs Jeff Hardy For The Intercontinental Championship.

WWE Photo

The match was aight. Jeff Hardy is on the offensive for the majority of the match despite the knee injury.

Styles hooked in the calf crusher and Hardy got out of it.

Thanks to that knee brace, Hardy used it to get out of the Styles clash and nailed the twist of fate then the Swanton bomb to become a FIVE-TIME. FIVE-TIME. FIVE-TIME. FIVE-TIME intercontinental championship.

Hardy then told Kalya Braxton that he hopes his comeback will inspire the fans to do great things.

Styles, however, was frustrated, blaming his loss on none other than the knee brace.

I gotta say, I'm really glad to see Joseph Parks in a WWE setting.

Firefly Funhouse Time.

In the recent edition of the Firefly funhouse, Wyatt showed us the firefly funhouse theatre of a play between Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss.

The pig played Strowman while the doll played Bliss.

WWE Photo

Strowman stormed into the funhouse and he brutally attacked Bray Wyatt.

Then, The monster among men delivered the chokeslam on Wyatt that landed on the exposed concrete floor.

WWE Photo

As Wyatt was in the ambulance, smoke came out of the truck as well as red lighting in the background and The Fiend emerges. And that's how the show ended.

That was lacklustre not gonna lie. The segment didn’t do much for the feud or the storyline.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: the opening segment, the tag team title match, Sonya Deville promo.

Didn't like: the end segment.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
