WWE RAW 17/8/20 | A Bit Late Coherent Review.

This episode was A. S. S. Probably one of the most boring episodes I've seen all year.

The show was basically the Christmas episode/ the new year episode that came 4 months early.

And yes, I did post the Monday Night RAW review last Wednesday just like today (which is Wednesday) but it isn't going to be permanent though.

The reason why I posted the review a day late is that, life. Just life.

Drew Talks About What Randy Did To The Nature Boy Last Week.

WWE Photo

McIntyre's reaction to what Randy did to Ric Flair was a feeling of disgust saying that Orton without question, heinously attacked a friend, a mentor and a father figure.

As Drew continues to talk about how he'll beat the sh*t out of the legend killer, there were some technical issues that plagued the entire segment.

And who was responsible for that? Well, it was none other than Retribution.

WWE Photo

Drew saw the verbal chaos going on from the rest of the RAW locker room however, a familiar foe in Seth Rollins was laughing at the notion of Drew as the leader of Monday Night RAW.

The Drew promo was good but the rest of the segment with Retribution was bleh.

MVP Says That Apollo Is Behind Retribution.

WWE Photo

Montel was talking sh*t about the "catering squad" in Ricochet, Cedric Alexander, Mustafa Ali and Apollo Crews.

He then brought up a theory that ever since Apollo came back, the Retribution showed up and that is no coincidence.

Pretty much accusing him of leading the masked group.

Apollo responded to the accusation saying that it's pretty low coming from MVP.

WWE Photo

The champ made an offer to MVP that if he beats Shelton Benjamin then the rest of the Hurt Business will watch the match in catering because they'll be banned from ringside.

Damn, the Hurt Business sure does hate catering for some reason.

It's probably because they're serving a stale potato salad drizzled with *ugh* ranch (by the way, for those who took it seriously, this is not true).

Crews beat Shelton thanks to some distraction from R Truth and the Ninjas.

WWE Photo

That good old 50/50 booking that really rendered Shelton's win last week useless

The United States champion was saved from a Hurt Business beat down.

The Hurt Business was so angry as to what just happened that Shelton picked up the 24/7 championship victory.

The stable also challenged Crews and his buddies to a 6 man elimination tag match later in the night.

I have a question about that decision, why?

Angel Garza vs Ivar

WWE Photo

In a backstage segment, Ivar pulled out a Thor by calling up that turkey drumstick with his right hand and gave it to Demi Burnett aka that Bachelor star who was talking to Angel Garza earlier.

I thought that was f'ing hilarious.

One of the number one contenders for the RAW tag team championship won the match with a dropkick.

That win was due to a distraction from Andrade.

Angelo Dawkins via the titantron was messing with Garza.

WWE Photo

Meanwhile, Samoa Joe saw a video that was later shown that Vega was behind Montez Ford getting sick in a backstage segment.

That segment also saw the return of the aforementioned Montez Ford. Wow, I'm so surprised (sarcasm of course).

What's the use of the "who did it tease" if the audience knew that it was Zelina Vega who planned the poisoning?

Like, who would do it besides Vega, Allen from the sound department?

She should've just admitted to her actions early on.

Mickie James vs Natalya.

WWE Photo

James didn't get an entrance. The disrespect.

During the match, Seth Rollins confronted Joe asking about who's the source that is feeding the information regarding the return of Rey Mysterio.

Oh, and Natalya won via count-out. Why can't the confrontation from Seth Rollins happen after the match?

That decision literally made me not care about the Lana/ Natalya/ Mickie James feud.

Thanks, world wrestling entertainment.

Asuka And Shayna Baszler vs Sasha Banks And Bayley.

WWE Photo

There were promos being cut from both teams before the team which was okay.

Nia Jax returns by attacking Shayna Baszler that led to a brawl.

The match turned into a 2 on 1 handicap match for a bit aka the two SummerSlam matches that happened at once on free TV.

Asuka has nothing to worry about because Shayna came back like nothing happened.

The babyface team won the match with the kirifuda clutch.

Titus O'Neil got an award of some kind. Cool.

What is really cool was the backstage interaction Drew got from HBK himself, Shawn Michaels.

Peyton Royce vs Ruby Riott.

WWE Photo

A match that I've seen before and I don't wanna see it again besides seeing Royce's finisher, Deja Vu.

RAW Underground.

WWE Photo

It's time for RAW to begin underground once again.

In it, the showcase saw:

  • Erik from the Viking Raiders tapped out to Ziggler's sleeper hold after Erik took down Colby Corino.
  • An Arturo Ruas and Riddick Moss fight that ended pretty awkwardly,
  • The return of Shayna's gang, Marina Shafir and Jessymin Duke.
  • A tease from Nia Jax fighting in RAW Underground against Shayna Baszler but immediately walked out.

A decent edition of RAW Underground.

Rey Mysterio And Dominik Reunites.

WWE Photo

Rey was so proud of his son for defending himself and the family. Mysterio wishes to see his Hijo kick Seth Rollins' a** at SummerSlam.

Seth Rollins and Murphy via the titantron called Rey selfish for putting his son in danger.

The Messiah and his disciple eventually came to the ring and the Mysterio family beat the living hell out of Seth Rollins and Murphy with the kendo stick.

WWE Photo

This was fine. It is interesting to witness how Dominik will wrestle inside the squared circle this Sunday.

MVP told Cedric Alexander that the offer he gave to Cedric months back is still open or he could be stuck in catering purgatory.

What's with the Hurt Business and catering, bruh?

The Hurt Business vs Apollo Crews, Mustafa Ali And Ricochet In An Elimination Tag Team Match.

So, Ali was eliminated in less than a few minutes by Lashley with the dominator (thanks for coming, Mustafa Ali. I'm sure you're going to be utilised greatly).

Benjamin took out Ricochet to which Apollo got rid of Benjamin with the sitout powerbomb.

WWE Photo

Cedric Alexander pinned an unconscious Shelton Benjamin to become the 24/7 champion.

Apollo pinned the number one contender for the US title with ease but Apollo himself was later pinned by Lashley with the spear, giving the Hurt Business the W.

Not only did the challenger was booked weak in this outcome but as well as the champion himself.

How is that possible, WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT!?

Akira Tozawa vs Cedric Alexander For The 24/7 Championship.

WWE Photo

We got an impromptu title match and Alexander prevailed with the lumbar check.

All over sudden, a fresh Shelton Benjamin pinned Alexander to become the 24/7 champion once again.

What a cluster f**k and you know what's not surprising about this?

I. Didn't. Care. About. All. Of. This. It did NOTHING for either man.

Montez Ford vs Andr………

Who cares? Let's talk about the end segment.

So, Shawn Michaels cut a promo about none other than his Survivor Series 2007 foe, Randy Orton and how Orton will see the beating from McIntyre at SummerSlam coming.

Randy Orton from outta nowhere, delivered the RKO along with the punt kick and Drew McIntyre stormed to the ring for the rescue.

WWE Photo

Was it as great as last week's segment? No, but it was better than most of the show I'll tell ya that much.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The ending and opening segment, the Ivar/Thor reference, the Shawn and Drew backstage talk.

Didn't like: a lot of distraction finishes, some of the segments and matches felt meaningless, how both Apollo Crews and MVP looked weak after the 6 man tag match, the mess that is the 24/7 championship writing.

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
