WWE NXT 26/8/20 | A Coherent Review.

Preview: WWE - NXT (8/26/20) - Last Word on Pro Wrestling

The yellow brand came back swinging because this show was guud.

The main reason was mostly due to the in-ring action and a great return.

Wade Barrett made his WWE return in the commentary desk and he was superb in his role.

Karrion Kross Does What??

So, Kross separated his shoulder during the NXT title match against Keith at Takeover 30 (which you can click here to read the Takeover review).

Kross pretty much said in his promo that he has to relinquish the title but he'll get that title back.

WWE Photo

It sucks that Kross has to give up the title given that he's at his A-game right now.

But, with disappointment comes some hope.

Because, later in the night, NXT general manager, William Regal announced that a match for the NXT championship will happen next week.

WWE Photo

The match is a fatal four-way match but get this, it is going to be a 60-minute iron man 4-way bout.

The four men competing are Adam Cole, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and the returning Tommaso Ciampa.

This should be funnnn. Can. Not. Wait.

Imperium vs Breezango For The NXT Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

This was a damn good tag team title match.

Breezango did a double team backbreaker position into a leg drop from Fandango.

Fandango was then taken on to the outside by Fabian Aichner.

That led to an uppercut from Marcel Barthel to Fandango followed with a German suplex by Aichner.

WWE Photo

Somehow, Fandango ended the bout with a double leg drop onto Aichner and Barthel and the charismatic duo became the new tag team champions.

This is the first title that both Fandango and Tyler Breeze won which is sad but better late than never, right?

Damian Priest and Timothy Thatcher had a verbal interaction regarding the North American championship with Thatcher calling Priest's reign embarrassing.

Tommaso Ciampa vs Tony Atlas.

This was all Ciampa. Ciampa won the match with the DDT to which the guy gave Atlas some further beating.

Tommaso is a bad guy again and I absolutely love this.

WWE Photo

It just puts over the psycho killer moniker and Atlas did a great job on selling Ciampa's attack.

Bronson Reed slapped the crap out of the returning Austin Theory in an interview with McKenzie Mitchell.

I'm really glad that Bronson Reed is showcased on TV.

The dude is talented and he honestly deserves it.

Mia Yim vs Shotzi Blackheart.

During Shotzi's entrance, she drove onto Robert Stone's leg again with her mini tank.

The match itself was okay. Blackheart picked up a huge W with the Senton. I like this win.

A good way to build up a star as well as the division itself.

Isiah Swerve Scott vs Santos Escobar For The NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

WWE Photo

Another damn good match of the evening.

You know, when someone eg Santos Escobar uses dirty handed tactics to win a match, it leads to a rematch right?

Will find out soon.

In separate video promos, Johnny Gargano, Finn Balor and Adam Cole said their piece as to why they'll win the NXT championship next Tuesday.

It was aight.

Kyle O'Reilly vs Drake Maverick.

WWE Photo

An okay encounter. O'Reilly won the match with a knee-bar which led to the rest of UE trying to inflict damage on Maverick.

Thankfully, he was saved by Killian Dain. You would think that Dain's a good guy, right?

Nope, he gave Drake a clothesline.

WWE Photo

At least it breaks the illusion that if a bad guy saves a good guy then it means that bad guy is now good (did I just make this simple concept confusing as it is?).

Rhea Ripley tells McKenzie Mitchell that the reason why she saved Io Shirai at Takeover 30 is that it's a statement for Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez that Io is hers now.

That motivation is different and it makes sense. I like it.

Rhea Ripley And Io Shirai vs Dakota Kai And Raquel Gonzalez.

Speaking of which. That was an enjoyable main event match.

At the end of the match, Mercedes Martinez attacked Rhea Ripley from behind without the ref's witness.

WWE Photo

Because of that, Raquel Gonzalez nailed a devastating looking modified powerbomb on Ripley and the heels walked off full sail the winners.

I know this has been said from some people on Twitter but Ripley's momentum has already been cooled off.

To be honest, a heel turn is something Ripley needs right now just to build her up.

It's sad to see Ripley in that position but it is what it is.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Breezango vs Imperium, Shotzi's win (the reason being that it builds the division and a star), Tommaso Ciampa's return, the final match as well as the opening match of the night, cruiserweight championship match, Wade Barrett on commentary.

Didn't like: Rhea's momentum cooled off even more?

WWE Smackdown Live 10/7/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown live was a bad show that did nothing as a wrestling fan to gain any excitement for extreme rules. Why you ask? Well i'm gonna give you what's good. No scratch that, i'm gonna give you what's ok and what's bad. Here we go. WHAT'S OK The opening segment and the brawl after that The opening segment was meh. And the brawl after that was fine. Didn't make me go "OHHHHHHHHHHH" or anything like along those lines. That brawl leads to a TEN MAN TAG TEAM match (Ummmmmm no shit omar). I will say this, the segment kinda teased the fact that maybe kane will turn on his best friend? I don't know. Should be interesting.  Andrade "cien" almas vs Sin cara The match was surprisingly decent. At one point andrade delivered a devastating stomp to sin cara on the ring apron. Andrade wins with a running knee to sin cara on the middle rope. Hoping andrade can move on to bigger and better things.  WHAT'S BAD ...

Should Dave Meltzer Get Rid Of His Rating System?

So a few weeks ago, good old Dave Meltzer of the wrestling observer newsletter gave the Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny omega match at dominion 2018 a 7-star rating. According to the interent wrestling database , this match is by far his HIGHEST match rating ever (i don't blame him because the match was amazing). So statistically, this is his favourite match of all time . Now, why I'm writing this now?  Well, his best match ratings have been a consistent 5 stars since 1983 with the exception of all the Omega vs Okada matches and the Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada match at AJPW's Budokan hall show in June of 1994.  There are fans that take his match ratings as an offence somehow like "Why he rates X match better than Y match?" or thinks that he "hates" WWE which is ridiculous considering that he gave three WWE matches a 5 star ratings just this past year. One was the ladder match to crown the first ever NXT North American champion, the Johnny Garga...

The Obsession With Ratings. Warranted Or Not?

(Just a bit of a heads-up, this article contains a lot of the word "ratings").  Rating. Rating. Rating. It is a word that you see or hear many times throughout your wrestling fandom but why is that?  Well, it's interesting to see how your weekly consumption does by the numbers every week.  However, that conversation can turn the other way.  The toxic, " logic-filled" , gatekeeping way that is (you see why I muted the word "rating" on Twitter?).  Fans have been talking about TV ratings for years but that discussion has skyrocketed once AEW Dynamite and NXT airs on the same night every week ya know because wrestling fans am I right?  Before I answer the question of whether the obsession with TV ratings is warranted or not, I'll first have to briefly describe the Nielsen rating (which is an American TV rating system. No sh*t, Omar).  A Summary Of The History Of The Nielsen Ratings.  The Nielsen rating system was introduced...
