The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: The Most Mediocre AEW Dynamite Episode Ever? Adam Had Enough Of Pat McAfee.
NXT was the better programming this week. Pure and simple. What about Dynamite?
It was a show that included meh matches with one good segment.
NXT did a better job in the match quality department but that's just me.
Also, damn, AEW did fantastic numbers in the ratings this week.
Considering the way I feel about the episode, I'm honestly surprised.

NXT
Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).
Rhea Ripley vs Dakota Kai.
A great way to start off the first NXT episode in the month of August 2020. This was foot to face action.
They gave these women almost 20 minutes and that is commendable, unlike its competition.

Dakota Kai is going to Takeover: XXX due to Mercedes Martinez's interference on the outside.
The feud between the Robert Stone brand and Rhea Ripley continues but this time it's Martinez representing and I do not mind it surprisingly.
Keith Lee Was Sent A Message From Karrion Kross.
Lee's victory over Cameron Grimes led to a Kross appearing via the titantron telling Lee "Tick Tock". I'm loving what NXT is doing with Karrion Kross. Keep that built.
Santos Escobar Called Out Isiah Swerve Scott.
Speaking of the thing I like what NXT is doing, Pretty much in this segment, they dragged Breezango to the ring.
The leader of El Legado De La Fantasma, Santos Escobar warned Isiah Swerve Scott that Breezango's outcome will be the same as the man Santos called out, Isiah Swerve Scott.
This whole stable Escobar got going on, is just great.
Everything from their entrance, their presence and most importantly, their motivations.
Adam Cole Had Enough of Pat McAfee.
While Cole was furious as to what Pat McAfee said on the announce table, the rest of UE was distracted and Imperium took that as an advantage to nail a double team manoeuvre and retain the NXT tag team championship.
Then, Adam Cole desperately wanted to fight with Pat McAfee to which McAfee kicked Adam's head off, knocking him out cold.
They've been going at it back and forth since last year.
Talk about long term storytelling, am I right?
This might sound ridiculous but I'm actually interested as to how this feud goes.
Also, the way McAfee acted in this end segment, it got me thinking, is Adam Cole a babyface?
I will say this, the segment is the most main roster thing I've seen from NXT since they aired the Newly Bro show segment a few months back.
It's getting a bit concerning but that's my pessimism talking.
Some Other Things That Happened.
Bronson Reed vs Shane Throne - Reed looks strong going into Takeover: XXX with a HUGE splash.
Damian Priest vs Oney Lorcan vs Ridge Holland - I barely watched NXT UK so this is my first time seeing the Englishman.
Unfortunately, Holland didn't qualify for the ladder match because Priest did with the reckoning on Oney Lorcan.
Side note, because of Dexter Lumis' injury, the losers will compete in a series of qualifying matches for the NA title ladder match.
Tegan Nox vs Indi Hartwell - As Pat McAfee said regarding Nox's shiniest wizard on Indi, "knee to the mouth".
AEW
Highlights (we get it, it's subjective).
AEW Super Wednesday Debate With Orange Cassidy And Chris Jericho.
Eric Bischoff is the special guest moderator in case you somehow read this article first and have not been on Twitter.
Chris Jericho aired his frustrations towards his opponent for next week's episode, Orange Cassidy.
Eric asked a question about climate change and Cassidy was spitting nothing but facts.
Cassidy played no games in his intense promo saying that he'll beat the crap out of Chris.
Due to Orange's back to back great promos, Eric declared Cassidy the winner of this debate.
The Demo-God responded that win with a beatdown alongside his climate change denier buddy, Jake Hager.
Orange was the star in this segment and by far, the best thing about this mediocre episode.
Some Other Things That Happened.
FTR And The Elite vs The Dark Order - This was aight. During the bout, Dax Harwood suffered a leg injury and for a while, it was a one on six encounter.
The numbers game actually worked for the Dark Order as they won the match with a brutal discus clothesline from Brodie Lee to Hangman Page.
Best Friends vs Santana And Ortiz - Another meh tag match. Best Friends picked up the W with a roll-up by Chuck Taylor to Ortiz.
The loss bothered the New Yorkers so much that they damaged Trent's Mom's van (a tongue twister I know).
MJF Is Leading In The Polls - So, MJF gave the audience watching at home a tour at his campaign strategy area.
Cool but I do think that he'll make the good guy, Jon Moxley, look great even though I'm not a fan of MJF.
Matt Hardy Brawled With Sammy Guevara - During the brawl, Hardy was busted wide open after Sammy hit Hardy with a steel chair.
At least Matt's promo before that, was decent.
Matt Cordona And Cody vs The Dark Order (not the same Dark Order from earlier in the show) - Hey, Zack Ryder is on AEW. Aren't you excited, Omar? *sarcasm of course*.
Matt led his team to a win with the Ruff Ryder or as AEW called it, Radio Silence.
Big Swole vs Reba - The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays 3 weeks ago:
"With the AEW Women's tag team cup this summer, I'm hoping that the women's division is getting better showcases to the point where it's the hottest thing in the company"
Well, this match proved my hopes to be dead wrong.
The fact that the only women's match in this episode lasted a few minutes, honestly should tell you how AEW unintentionally feels about its women's division.
What. The. F**k.
Jox Moxley vs Darby Allin For The AEW World Championship - It was a match. An okay match. Moxley retained the title with the double hooked DDT.
The question is, what are some of the highlights of both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, I gotta get some sleep so stay safe smarks.
