The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Eddie Kingston Debuts At AEW, Keith Lee Relinquishes The North American Title.

I thought the pacing for NXT this week was better than Dynamite. However, who delivered the better show this week?

That was something I had to think about for hours after my consumption of NXT and AEW had ended because It was a battle in my head essentially.

After long hard thinking, I have to give the edge to the Elite.

NXT

Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).

An Announcement Regarding The NXT North American Championship.

Keith Lee Defeats Adam Cole to Become First Double Champion in NXT ...

The double champ, Keith Lee gave huge news about his other championship that he's holding, the North American title.

The news is that he's going to relinquish the championship so that he could give the roster an opportunity.

So, the NXT general manager, William Regal had an idea.

That idea is hosting a series of triple threat matches and the winner of each match will face each other for the North American Championship at NXT Takeover: 30 on August in a *Dario Cueto voice* A LADDER MATCH!!

Keith Lee's action was predictable yet it made a whole lotta sense.

This is exciting and the thing I like about this is that we're getting to see some fantastic matches throughout the month-long build like the match below this highlight.

Bronson Reed vs Roderick Strong vs Johnny Gargano. Winner Qualifies In The NXT North American Championship Ladder.

WWE Photo

Earlier in the match, Johnny Gargano and Roderick tried to align themselves to take out the big man in Bronson Reed but that plan fell flat due to them not wanting to face Reed.

The alliance hasn't stopped there. They at one point, tried to nail the Irish whip but Reed reversed it by shoving Roderick onto Gargano.

The match concluded after Gargano delivered the one final beat, Bronson Reed delivered the splash to qualify in the North American championship ladder match at Takeover: XXX.

What a match. An edge of your seat type of encounter. I'm glad that a talented guy like Bronson Reed is going to be in his first Takeover appearance.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Dexter Lumis vs Killian Dain - The match was aight. Lumis defeats Dain with the modified headlock.

Breezango vs Ever-Rise - The so-called "fashion police" came out to their entrance as the Quebecers which was cool. Breezango won in a decent tag team match with a double superkick.

Isiah Swerve Scott Tells Santos Escobar That The Title Is Going To Be His - If this is the next feud for the NXT cruiserweight championship then I certainly don't mind it.

Those two guys have a history in the temple (a Lucha Underground reference) so why not?

Shotzi Blackheart vs Aliyah - A meh match. Blackheart wins with a beautiful looking Senton from the top rope.

Then, Mercedes Martinez kicked Blackheart's head off, joining the Robert Stone brand in the process.

Timothy Thatcher vs Oney Lorcan - As a technical wrestling geek, this bout kinda disappointed me but it was a decent fight. Thatcher "steals the victory" with a pin while Lorcan locked in the armbar.

Karrion Kross vs Dominic Djakovic - Kross was choking Djakovic with his leg to which Kross kicked the steel steps that landed on Djakovic's face.

The damage was so bad that Keith Lee showed up to check on his friend.

Kross won the match with a sleeper hold. This is probably Djakovic's last match as he's rumoured to move up to the main roster but I could be wrong.

AEW

Highlights (we get it, it's subjective).

Cody vs Eddie Kingston For The TNT Championship In A No Disqualifications Match.

Holy crap, Eddie Kingston is on AEW television and he cut a passionate promo about his upbringing. The match itself was pretty good.

Kingston tore up the floor pat that exposed the concrete and tried to hit Cody with it, however, the champ carried Kingston and landed on the concrete floor.

Speaking of landing onto things, Cody landed himself on a bunch of thumbtacks.

Cody ends this bout with a figure four and it is still the TNT champion because of it.

Vivian Aka Britt Baker Gives An Update About Her Broken Nose.

Baker tells the world that despite her broken nose after her encounter with Hikaru Shida three months back, she still showed up next week and that's how a role model, no pun intended rolls.

Oh, and she's still recovering from her nose injury sustained by Big Swole. A Vivian doing Vivian things.

(By the way, the reason why I call her Vivian instead of Karen is that everybody and their mama are saying that name and I wanted to stand out with the name but kept on the meaning behind Karen if that makes sense).

All lame jokes aside, I thought this was funny.

Ivelisse vs Diamante.

This was honestly, a great match and with the AEW Women's tag team cup this summer, I'm hoping that the women's division is getting better showcases to the point where it's the hottest thing in the company.

Side note, I didn't know that Ivelisse appeared at All Out last year. Diamante won the bout with an inside cradle.

Some Other Things That Happened.

MJF vs A Local Competitor - MJF was embarrassing the local competitor, Griff Garrison and after Garrison told the salt of the earth that he lost a tag team match, MJF hit him with a microphone.  The match was longer than it needed to be especially for a squash match.

Taz Says That Throwing The Towel In The AEW Championship Was A "Business Decision" - After Taz's promo,  Darby Allin ran to the ring and tried to attack Brian Cage, however, Ricky Starks prevented that from happening. Jon Moxley with a barb-wired bat, saved Allin from a two on one beatdown.

I guess I was wrong that Darby Allin is feuding with Brian Cage alone. Really? THIS is the main event program for AEW!? Well, that was lame.

FTR And Kenny Omega Saved Hangman Page From Getting A Beating From The Dark Order - I will say this, Hangman Adam Page's match with Alan "5" Angels was surprisingly decent.

The Young Bucks vs Butcher And The Blade In A Falls Count Anywhere Match - Probably one of my least favourite falls count anywhere matches but it was fine for what it was. The Young Bucks prevailed in this bout.

The Jurassic Express In Jungle Boy And Luchasaurus vs Chris Jericho And Jake Hager - So, after the match, Sammy Guevara returned after disguising himself as "Serpentico".

He along with his Inner Circle buddies beat up the losers of the match, The Jurassic Express but they were saved by Orange Cassidy and his Best Friends.

Sammy barely was off TV for a few weeks and I don't know how to feel about it just yet.

The question is, what are some of the highlights of both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, I gotta get some sleep so stay safe smarks.

WWE RAW 28/12/20 | A Bit Late Coherent Review.

Before I start this review, I wanna say rest in peace to Jon Huber better known as the person behind the character of Luke Harper and Brodie Lee.  It was a tough, painful 3 days for the pro wrestling industry and I certainly felt that.  If there's one thing I've learned from the number of great stories being told by the people he has worked with is that Jon is a charming, funny and overall a fantastic human being that loves his family.  After reading the countless amount of fantastic tribute posts (including from the likes of Molly Belle of Wrestle Inn and Andrew Thompson of Post Wrestling ), that bit about Jon as a family man made me think of my current relationship with my father and the ways I'm trying to improve from my standpoint.  I know this is a cheese pizza saying but tell the people you cared about that you love 'em because that line might make their day.  So. Thank you, Jon Huber, for being the light that brightens everybody's darkness.  Now, Ho...

WWE Smackdown Live 30/10/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown Live yesterday was a skippable show other than the opening segment and match in my opinion. Now usually on my RAW/Smackdown Live review, I break down what's good, what's ok and what's bad. For the first time, I'm only gonna tell you what's ok given that this show was again a skippable show and here we go.  WHAT'S OK The opening segment  This is the probably one of if not most noteworthy moment this week mainly because as you might know, there were reports going around that John Cena and Daniel Bryan were out of Crown Jewel and the reports are indeed true and it makes sense, especially for John Cena considering that he's an actor now and he needs to maintain his PR status. The segment itself was decent. Loved both guys' intensity and that segment leads to a WWE championship match and speaking of which............. Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles  Decent match. Expected a better from these two but again, decent nevertheless but...

WWE Smackdown 24/4/20 | A Coherent Review.

This week's Smackdown show was decent but it wasn't as strong as the previous weeks and *hits his head a few times* here's why.  The New Day Celebrates Their Title Victory. The show kicked off with the now 8th time WWE tag team champions, The New Day and like the title above, they were celebrating their big title win last week (No sh*t, Omar).  During the segment, Kofi mentioned that there's nothing wrong with pointing out that they have more title reigns than The Hart Foundation, Edge and Christian, Demolition, The New Age Outlaws etc because it's them being proud of their accomplishments.  Out came Lucha House Party, The Miz and John Morrison and they pretty much said that they deserve a title shot. The Forgotten Sons showed up to tell The New Day, Lucha House Party and every other tag team watching that they will never be forgotten.  They lived up to that statement as the Forgotten Sons destroyed Lucha House Party and The New Day.  ...
