WWE RAW 8/6/20 | A Coherent Review.

This episode of Monday Night RAW is the exact opposite of last week's show. The storytelling was great but the wrestling, for the most part, was disappointing. For a good home show, that was a solid effort.

Asuka vs Charlotte Flair?

There's a reason why I added the question mark after Charlotte's last name and you'll know why after I'm done briefing the opening segment.

Asuka made her presence in the ring to prepare a match between herself and Charlotte Flair. Unexpectedly, Bayley and Sasha Banks showed up rubbing their title win on Asuka.

WWE Photo

Asuka's opponent in Charlotte Flair came out to tell the women's tag team champions that the people would rather see her face the empress.

Out came The IIconics and they said that their eventual title win at Backlash will be iconic.

After Flair called Bayley and Sasha Banks "trash", a brawl ensued leading to a triple threat tag team match.

WWE Photo

The team that wasn’t on the same page, Asuka and Charlotte actually won the match but Flair immediately hit Asuka from behind.

A meh opening match but a decent opening segment. Asuka's promo will always elevate a segment.

"Damn you, Seth Rollins Sitting On The Commentary Desk!"

WWE Photo

Mysterio warns Seth Rollins that when Rey is all healed up, hell is going to pay.

There was a tag team match between Aleister Black, Humberto Carrillo, Austin Theory and the babyface team won the match.

The fallout of the tag match saw the babyface team getting their a** kicked by Seth Rollins and his disciples.

WWE Photo

Unlike most of the Backlash show, they're actually giving this feud more time to simmer which is nice but who knows?

WWE might announce a match between Rollins and Mysterio for Backlash on a random Thursday.

R Truth took a full Nelson submission from Bobby Lashley in a backstage segment. Cool.

The Peep Show. Special Guest, Edge.

WWE Photo

Christian told him that Edge is running out of fumes and how Edge can't pull off a wrestling match anymore.

Edge, disgusted by what his friend said, stated passionately that he will try his absolute best.

Christian wanted that kind of passion in his best friend, however, Randy Orton via titantron that he'll take that passion out of him to the point where Edge will end up being a broke man.

WWE Photo

At first, I was watching this segment like, "Damn, first Randy now Christian? Edge cannot catch a break".  Nevertheless, this was the BEST segment out of all the segments that feud had.

That entire scene proved that the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" line is more than just a marketing line. It is a character-building for Edge whether he can still hang in a great wrestling match or not.

The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders battled themselves this week in a decathlon Lame.

Kevin Owens vs Angel Garza vs Andrade.

WWE Photo

Before this match took place, Apollo Crews, now with an updated theme song, is looking forward to facing the winner of the triple threat match for the US championship at Backlash.

The alliance between Garza and Andrade in this match lasted longer than the time I take to make green tea as they were fighting with each other.

The match concluded when Garza took a stunner from Owens but Andrade kicked Owens, pinned Garza to win the match and face Apollo Crews for the championship at Backlash. An okay match.

MVP Lounge. Special Guest, Bobby Lashley.

WWE Photo

Well, Lashley didn't show up at least not in the entirety of this segment after Drew McIntyre wanted to "talk less, claymore" (nice playing with words, Drew).

Thanks to The Viking Raiders and The Street Profits showing up, Drew was saved from a 2 on 1 beatdown from Lashley and MVP.

Speaking of the Viking Raiders, they faced MVP and Bobby Lashley in, you guessed it, a tag team match and it was okay. Nothing too special.

WWE Photo

Bobby Lashley actually tapped out Erik of the Viking Raiders with the Full Nelson.

This is the first time I believe that The Viking lost like that and honestly, I do not completely hate it given that Bobby has to look dominant going into Backlash and the booking Gods did their job.

Charlotte Flair vs Asuka.

WWE Photo

In this match, Bayley and Sasha Banks joined the RAW commentary team and that is great for Bayley and Sasha Banks stans.

In all seriousness, Bayley is entertaining whenever she's a guest in the commentary desk. I especially laughed when Bayley said to Bryon, "you're dumber than Michael Cole".

Asuka at one point, did a leg chop when Charlotte was standing on the ring apron.

Meanwhile, The IIconics attacked Bayley and Sasha Banks, knocking the tag champs out. Because of Nia Jax distracting Asuka, Charlotte hit a big boot to win this match but Jax furthered attacked Asuka and that's how the show ended.

WWE Photo

I hated that finish. Charlotte does not need that win at all. If anything, Asuka needed the win more than the queen herself.

Why can't Asuka deal with Nia then beat Charlotte and then have Jax attack her? I just don't get it.

WWE Photo

I know this isn't The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays (the series where I recap NXT and AEW Dynamite) but I wanna summarize Charlotte's reign as NXT women's champion.

I was very optimistic when Flair defeated Rhea Ripley for the NXT women's Championship at Wrestlemania and expected a John Cena US championship like title run from Charlotte but that didn't happen.

WWE Photo

Instead, it was a meaningless run that didn't accomplish anything from the NXT women's division itself to the ratings.

I thought when Charlotte would show up on RAW, I was like "maybe, WWE is writing a narrative that Charlotte Flair is bigger than NXT, hence her frequent appearance on RAW?"

Well, that explained her showing up on Smackdown, right? WWE is overexposing her character on TV by not featuring anyone else to its greatest potential (besides Nia Jax and Asuka) and right now as a fan, I'm actually afraid that the division is becoming the Charlotte Flair show, special guest, herself.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The Peep Show, Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio interview.

Didn't like: The wrestling, for the most part, was disappointing, the stress-inducing of an ending.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
