The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Tick Tock For Adam Cole As NXT Champion, A Great Debut Match For FTR!

WWE Photo

Simply put, NXT was a better show than AEW Dynamite in my opinion. That second hour except for the main event from Dynamite was rough.

By the way, Dasha Gonzalez aka Dasha Fuentes' interviews is universally better in the backstage segments on Dynamite than she ever did in WWE on the Smackdown backstage interviews.

NXT

Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).

Johnny Gargano And Candice LeRae vs Mia Yim And Keith Lee.

WWE Photo

Probably one of my favourite mixed tag team matches I've seen in quite some time. That match, by the way, had the closest thing to intergender wrestling in WWE.

This was a fun tag match. LeRae hits Yim's own move with Seoul Food and a springboard moonsault but Mia survives that.

The match ended when Candice LeRae was knocked out after Gargano delivered one final beat to Keith Lee that had Lee land on Candice.

That was all a swerve as she distracted Lee so that Johnny could roll the North American champion up for the W.

Cameron Grimes vs Finn Balor.

WWE Photo

So, in a backstage segment, Damian Priest strikes Cameron Grimes with his elbow because Grimes was talking sh*t behind Priest's back.

Grimes then pretended to have a "jaw injury" in order to avoid his upcoming match with Finn Balor which was an obviously failed plan.

What is not "a failed plan" is this match. This was a good one.

Finn Balor defeats Grimes with the 1916 but then, Balor had called out Keith Lee for a North American championship opportunity. Ooh. I would like to see that. Also, Damian Priest is a babyface now!?

Some Other Things That Happened.

Adam Cole Still NXT Champion Bay Bay- The opening segment of this show included Cole praising Dream for being good but he isn't Adam Cole.

He went on to talk about his dominant reign as NXT champion to which he mentioned his opponent in the main event, Dexter Lumis.

Now, Lumis was staring at those guys and Roderick Strong was the only one that saw him but for some reason, his UE members didn't.

WWE Photo

A decent segment. Strong is like the character from a horror movie that saw the scary figure but no one believes him which I thought was hilarious.

Indus Sher vs Local Competitors - Indus Sher is a team that I've not seen in many months and it's nice to see them honestly. They got potential to kick a** in the tag team division. Oh, and they won their match in case you were wondering.

Does Rhea Ripley Join the Robert Stone Brand?- Ripley was offered a spot in the Stone brand and her response was a throw on the rubbish bin. I'm sure no one saw that coming, right?

Breezango's Showcase - They had a video package basically talking about how their NXT run is way more fulfilling than RAW or Smackdown. They're going to face Imperium for the tag team championship so it should be good.

Kacy Catanzaro vs Dakota Kai - This was aight. Kai won the match with the GTK or go-to kick. Dakota Kai And Raquel Gonzalez were beating up Kacy.

Kayden Carter wanted to make the save but that failed because Raquel nailed a devastating modified powerbomb.

El Hijo Del Fantasma And Drake Maverick Are Going To Have A Cruiserweight Championship Match!? - Maverick wanted a cruiserweight championship and Del Fantasma accepted. Two masked men surrounded the ring and Del Fantasma attacked Drake Maverick from behind.

The masked men revealed themselves as Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza while El Hijo Del Fantasma took off his mask and has now named himself as Santos Escobar.

WWE Photo

I saw Fantasma being the leader of the masked group from a mile away but what I didn't expect was him taking off his mask and changing his name which I'm not gonna lie, El Hijo Del Fantasma is a better name if I'm being honest. With that being said, I'm curious as to how this feud plays out.

Adam Cole vs Dexter Lumis - Due to some outside assistance from Roderick Strong, Cole hits the last shot to win this match. After the match, Lumis was attacked by other UE-members until the Velveteen Dream made the rescue.

Meanwhile, Scarlett Bordeaux made her presence to give Cole a clock metaphorically saying that the end of Cole's reign as NXT champion is coming.

AEW

Highlights (we get it, it's subjective).

FTR vs The Butcher And The Blade aka The BBs.

This was a good old fashioned tag team match. FTR nailed a superplex and an elbow drop to a near fall.

Another thing that FTR nailed was a double team piledriver or the mind breaker. FTR was interviewed by Schiavone about their impressive victory to which The Young Bucks confronted those guys again.

All 4 men were attacked from behind by The Butcher, The Blade, Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian, however, FTR and The Young Bucks were saved by Kenny Omega And Hangman Page.

The tag team division is getting even more exciting to watch on AEW. Damn, what an awesome opening match that was.

The Vignette With Joey Ganela And Sonny Kiss.

This was decent. Finally, Sonny Kiss is actually on television. Yayyy!

Some Other Things That Happened.

Kris Statlander And Hikaru Shida vs Penelope Ford And Nyla Rose - Ford used the AEW Women's championship belt to hit a beautiful fisherman suplex on Hikaru Shida to win the match.

Does this mean that Penelope Ford is getting a title shot? Well, yea, no sh*t, Omar.

Darby Allin Is Taking Some Skateboarding Lessons From Tony Hawk - Speaking of Tony Hawk, who's buying the Tony hawk pro skater 1 and 2 remaster?

Santana, Ortiz And Jake Hager vs Best Friends In Trent, Chuck Taylor And Orange Cassidy - A solid 6 man tag match. Best Friends won the match with a roll-up from Orange Cassidy then The Inner Circle decided to beat the crap out of Best Friends including Cassidy himself with a bunch of Oranges. The irony writes itself. Orange is a major star and having him face one of the biggest names in the industry only elevates the Orange.

Sammy Guevara vs Colt Cabana - After Cabana's L from Sammy Guevara, The Dark Order showed up to help Cabana get back up.

Matt Hardy wanted to tell Sammy Guevara that he's the future of AEW and in order to be successful in the company, Guevara has to stay away from Chris Jericho. Sammy obviously didn't buy what Hardy said.

I'm actually intrigued. I can't see Sammy as a face right now if that's the direction AEW's going in but like I said earlier, I'm intrigued.

Cody vs Marq Quen For The TNT Championship - Not as good as the Jungle Boy match from last week but this was okay. Cody retained the championship with a half Indian death-lock submission.

Jake Hager and the rest of Inner Circle were stomping on Cody but Quen, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy saved the TNT championship. Cody told Hager that the TNT championship match at Fyter Fest between both guys is on.

The multi-man brawl between The Inner Circle, Private Party and Matt Hardy was excessive.

They should've made it simple by having Jake Hager and only Jake show up and beat up Cody but that's just me.

The question is, what are some of the highlights on both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE RAW 5/10/20 | A Coherent Review.

I have not said this in a RAW review in a very long time but the show as a whole was straight up dogsh*t awful.  It's so bad that I didn't like one ounce about this program.  pictures via wwe.com Randy Orton Remembers His Match At Clash Of Champions.  The show started off with Randy Orton recalling certain aspects about the WWE championship match at Clash Of Champions.  Orton goes on to say that Drew doesn't deserve the championship because the legends interfered in the ambulance match.  The promo ended with Orton bringing up the fact that he beat up four legends last week on RAW (again, explain the physics behind this?).  Drew showed up and he laid waste on the guy.  Randy has been quite exceptional in the dialogue department but this ain't it.  The promo actually put me to sleep and the show didn't even hit 10 minutes up until that point.  If they suddenly end the rivalry like nothing happened, while it doesn't make sense, I'm all for it be...

WWE NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff | My Coherent Review.

via WWE I don't watch or review the first NXT UK Takeover for some odd reason but I'm so glad I did because that was like the main NXT Takeovers, was absolutely great to watch. I'm just speechless and if you have watched the show then you'll know why (also, if you somehow didn't watch this show, what are you doing? Go and treat yourself with some wrestling goodness.) Noam Dar vs Travis Banks.  A very enjoyable opening match. Noam Dar proves that he's great at what he does with so many submission holes because if you don't know, I'm a technical wrestling connoisseur. Noam Dar won the match with a standing shining wizard.  Cesaro vs Ilja Dragunov. Always great to see Cesaro do what he does best and that's a fight inside the square circle. So, Ilja called out Cesaro because Cesaro's looking for an open challenge and Cesaro obviously picked his challenger.  The Swiss Cyborg started off this match by throwing Dragunov to the outside ...
