WWE Smackdown 1/5/20 | A Coherent Review.

A very good effort from the blue brand and a definite improvement compared to last week's episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

Side note, WWE has mentioned in this show that both the men’s and women’s Money In The Bank ladder match will happen at the same time. This could either be the best or the worst match of the year but it should be interesting.

Daniel Bryan vs King Corbin.

Before the match, Bryan in the opening promo of the evening, talked about his excitement in the most unique Money In The Bank match in history given that he's up for new challenges. He wants to surprise the world once more by grabbing the Money In The Bank contract for the second time.

Corbin showed up to basically repeat what Bryan said but instead, it's the King who will win the ladder match. Bryan brought up Corbin's failed "heist of a century" in 2017 which was a rare use of continuity and that's how the scene ended.

The match itself was actually good. I've not watched a good Corbin match in weeks so kudos to the guy. Throughout most of the bout, Corbin damaged Daniel's arm but his use of the ladder on Bryan ended the match via disqualification.

Thanks to Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro, Corbin made a statement by throwing Daniel Bryan onto a bunch of ladders. It's kinda funny that King Corbin is now leading another stable and it's honestly lame due to the fact that I'm not a fan of his previous stable with Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

I know, I know. Zayn isn't on television as of late because he chose to stay home according to the Observer (from Bleacher Report) but it is something to think about.

Braun Strowman Have Some Words For Bray Wyatt.

Strowman doesn't want to talk about the past however, Wyatt Interrupts in his Firefly funhouse element and tells a story about a black sheep who abandoned his shepherd.

Braun ten tells Bray Wyatt to get in the ring and the Universal champion waves his hands saying goodbye.

The way the segment ended made me laugh really loud. Braun Strowman's in-ring promo was saved by a great firefly funhouse episode. In other words, a good segment.

Sheamus vs Local Jobber Aka Leon Ruff.

Another week, another squash match courtesy of the Celtic Warrior. Sheamus then watched the comeback story of Jeff Hardy along with Micheal Cole because he's been picking on Cole for weeks now.

After the announcement of the return of Jeff Hardy next week,  Sheamus tells Cole that he will be there as well. Will see what happens next week.

Mandy Rose vs Carmella. Money In The Bank Qualifying Match.

During the match, Sonya Deville was talking trash on the stage area and brought up how Deville gave Ross her Money In The Bank ladder match spot last year.

That was an obvious distraction which was taken advantage of by Carmella and just like that, the moonwalking is the final person to enter the Money In The Bank match. Meanwhile, Sonya Deville physically assaulted Rose repeatedly.

Deville is slowly getting better as a singles star in the women's division and honestly, that is awesome to see.

The New Day vs The Forgotten Sons.

This match was all Forgotten Sons and the ending proved it with a reverse DDT position into a stomp.

Forgotten Sons are looking good right now which is great for the tag team division but that doesn't mean I'm turning into a Forgotten Sons stan but who knows? It might happen in this unpredictable world that we live in.

In a backstage segment, Tamina took a two on one beatdown from Bayley and Sasha Banks but she was later saved by Lacey Evans. Cool.

Otis vs Dolph Ziggler. Money In The Bank Qualifying Match.

Earlier in the episode, Ziggler was concerned for Rose's well being but an hour or so later, he was cutting a promo about how he's basically going to win the qualifying match.

A rematch from Wrestlemania 36 (no sh*t, Omar) and like that match, it was aight. Otis qualifies for the Money In The Bank ladder match with the caterpillar. Who's replacing Apollo Crews' spot?

I don't want to be a downer but I think it's Jinder Mahal and WWE could start a feud between Mahal and Drew McIntyre.

Whenever that happens, the story may or may not be good. Just because the concept isn't appealing, that doesn't mean that the feud execution wise, will suck.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Daniel Bryan vs King Corbin, Braun Strowman Firefly funhouse segment, Sonya Deville's presence in the Rose vs Carmella match.

Didn't like: Nitpicking but another King Corbin stable? Really?

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
