When they announced that Wrestlemania was going to take place in two nights, I was hesitant mainly because I prefer a single show with meaningful matches and not the exact opposite spanned between two shows.
So far, the wrestling Gods proved me wrong. Wrestlemania 36 Night número uno was a great show. WWE gave me an escape that is desperately needed especially in this unique circumstance and I'm sure some of you guys feel this way too. As a tradition on this site, I haven’t seen the pre-show match so I can’t talk about it. Now, on with the review.
Before the show, Stephanie McMahon stated the usual thing. You know "in these times, we will entertain you". They then had the compilation of all the singers that sang America the beautiful which is actually pretty cool.
That led to this year's pirate-themed Wrestlemania opening and it was unique obviously but what makes it different is the humour in it which was fine.
A fun opening contest. Kabuki Warriors delivered the doomsday device on Cross. Asuka then applied the Asuka lock on Nikki but Bliss broke that up with the twisted Bliss.
Speaking of the Twisted Bliss, the match concludes with it on Kairi Sane to capture the tag titles for the second time.
The ending is questionable but Asuka and Kairi Sane's reign was good and I'm glad WWE utilized those women throughout their run which is something I didn't expect from that company given the awful booking for Asuka just 2 years ago.

We went from a fantastic match to this. A poorly paced match that is highlighted by Corbin's trash talk. Elias wins with the roll-up.
This was all Shayna Baszler at least throughout most of the match. What's more shocking is how the match ended. Shayna Baszler applied the kirifuda clutch on Becky Lynch but Lynch turned that into a pinfall to retain the championship.
I mean that's how she lost the NXT championship from Kairi Sane. It would've been if Baszler immediately attacked her from behind.
Becky losing in a quick fashion and then chase the gold until SummerSlam is a better idea if you ask me but I'll be patient about this. The match itself was decent but with a disappointing ending.
Bryan at one point during the match, nailed a suicide dive on Sami that was a bit cringeworthy.
Meanwhile, outside the ring, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro attacked Drew Gulak which led to a helluva kick from Sami and just like that, he's still the champion.
Damn, this match is just another match of the night in terms of underwhelming endings. What's more underwhelming is that the match was barely hitting the 10-minute mark. Absolute madness.
A triple threat singles match for the SmackDown tag titles. Man, 2020 sucks. It is awful for John Morrison to have his first Wrestlemania since *ugh* 27 in an empty area. During the match, Morrison strikes on one of Jimmy Uso's legs.
He then delivered the starship pain to Jimmy on the ladder that was set up in the middle turnbuckle. Kofi Kingston put Morrison down for a bit with a hurricanrana from the top ladder on the ring mat.

All three men were playing tug and war with the titles on top of the ladder to which Morrison fell on another that was in between the ladder and the ropes and that's how John Morrison regained the SmackDown tag team championship.
An odd finish, however, it was a kick a** of a ladder match. Don't know it would've been even greater if the rest of the members of each team were there but again, a great match.
That Messiah gear Rollin's rocking with is amazing. Owens kicked this match off with a series of sentons on Seth. Kevin was KOed (see what I just did there?) for a bit with the falcon arrow on the ring apron. Rollins continues his trash talk on Kevin Owens but Owens shut him up with a DDT.
Both men were fighting on the outside and one of those men, Seth Rollins, used the ring bell to strike on Owens and the match was over with a DQ.
A beat-up Owens called out Rollins for a rematch "right now" but this time no disqualifications and the Messiah agreed to such stipulation. Kevin climbed to the top of the Wrestlemania sign and he launched himself all the way through the announce table on Seth Rollins.

Minutes after that, Owens nailed the stunner on Seth to win this bout. Just like the ladder match from earlier, this encounter was brutal, chaotic and most importantly, fun to watch (I just laughed at that line for some reason). Don't know where this feud goes from here but it should be interesting.
Mojo Rawley became 24/7 champion. Paul Heyman cut a promo backstage saying that Lesnar will retain the world title. Cool.

Braun Strowman's losing the match, right? Right? Right? Of course, he didn't I mean who did? Goldberg ain't sticking around for long so giving the title to Braun does make sense.
AJ Styles came out via a limo from a casket after The Undertaker's theme song was played. Meanwhile, The Undertaker showed up to the cemetery with his bike and Metallica was playing in the background that just made the entrance a whole lot better (Big Evil/American Badass taker is back). As it was expected, this was a glorified buried alive match and both guys were fighting near the grave
Taker eventually threw him in the grave but hasn't shoved dirt on him but he has a bunch of black hooded people as well as the rest of O.C to deal with. Styles hits Taker with the tombstone and pushed him to the grave.
Miraculously when Styles used the vehicle to shove dirt on Big Evil, Taker showed up from behind and further attacked the phenomenal one and the rest of O.C. on the roof of the wooden house.
Undertaker kicked Styles all the way to the grave and used the vehicle to add dirt on Styles. The show ends with Taker starting his bike engine while his signature symbol was glowing behind him.
This isn't an Emmy award-winning piece of content right there and critiquing from a movie/TV like scene alone, it had a lot of problematic elements. That did not stop me from enjoying the crap out of that match.
It is the same exact reason why I enjoyed the Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton match and the Final Deletion match in TNA and that it's just fun.
You don't need for a medium to be deep (get it? Deep?) in order to fully appreciate the content. This is minutes and minutes and minutes of pure thrill. What an ending. Shout out to WWE for that.
So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.
Like: Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins, Undertakervs AJ Styles In A Boneyard Match, Smackdown tag team title ladder match, the women's tag team title match.
Didn't like: King Corbin vs Elias, some underwhelming endings like Bryan vs Zayn and Becky vs Shayna match.
The question is, what do you think about Wrestlemania 36 night one? Put any of your thoughts in the comments below and follow me on twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay home and take care of yourselves.
