WWE Smackdown 24/4/20 | A Coherent Review.

This week's Smackdown show was decent but it wasn't as strong as the previous weeks and *hits his head a few times* here's why.

The New Day Celebrates Their Title Victory.

WWE Photo

The show kicked off with the now 8th time WWE tag team champions, The New Day and like the title above, they were celebrating their big title win last week (No sh*t, Omar).

During the segment, Kofi mentioned that there's nothing wrong with pointing out that they have more title reigns than The Hart Foundation, Edge and Christian, Demolition, The New Age Outlaws etc because it's them being proud of their accomplishments.

Out came Lucha House Party, The Miz and John Morrison and they pretty much said that they deserve a title shot. The Forgotten Sons showed up to tell The New Day, Lucha House Party and every other tag team watching that they will never be forgotten.

They lived up to that statement as the Forgotten Sons destroyed Lucha House Party and The New Day. We've seen this plot device of "potential challengers showing up one by one to tell the champion why they deserve a title shot" a number of times but I feel like in this case, it was executed quietly decently actually and that is all thanks to the Forgotten Sons.

I am no fan of Forgotten Sons other than the name but this segment did its job to tell the audience that isn't familiar with the tag team, who they are and their motivation.

We then saw a series of videos highlighting Triple H's 25-year career with WWE and when you think about it, He's been around since Hulk Hogan was still an active competitor. The 5-year-old kid that saw Triple H wrestle for the first time in 1995 is now almost a 30-year-old grown man. As a dude in his early 20s, I feel a 1000 years old just saying that.

King Corbin vs Drew Gulak. Men's Money In The Bank Qualifying Match.

Why do I have a feeling that Elias will interfere in the match? Because he hasn't apparently and instead, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro interfered so that the King takes the W to advance in the men's Money In The Bank match. It was aight.

Sheamus vs Daniel Vidot.

Sheamus squashes another guy. I mean, The dude's undefeated so that's cool but one thing that I've not mentioned in my Smackdown review last week is that Jeff Hardy's videos of his comeback made Sheamus angry.

The Celtic warrior took his frustrations out on Micheal Cole which means that I got my wish regarding Sheamus possibly going to be part of a feud.

However, the scene with Sheamus picking on Micheal Cole is spot by spot the same scene as last week's one but with a different opponent for Sheamus to squash and who doesn't love squash matches, am I right? (Sarcasm of course).

The Miz And John Morrison vs Lucha House Party.

The Lucha House Party's win was so unexpected, Micheal Cole repeated what Corey Graves said regarding how they're speechless. I for one, couldn't care less about that win.

Lacey Evans vs Sasha Banks. Women's Money In The Bank Qualifying Match.

WWE Photo

During the match, Evans delivered the women's right to Banks but Bayley put Banks' right leg on the bottom rope.

Banks delivered a roll-up pin while Bayley was arguing with the referee. Sasha tells her best friend to "say out if it" which led to a second women's right from Evans to qualify for the ladder match.

Then, Tamina superkicked Bayley obviously building up to their match at Money In The Bank and I could care less about that bout. The match itself was okay though but that dissension with Bayley and Sasha Banks is quite intriguing.

The history of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt has now aired and I liked it mainly due to the aforementioned history between the former member and the leader.

Alexa Bliss And Nikki Cross vs Carmella And Dana Brooke For The Women's Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

The match was as long as the time I took to make my green tea. The champions retained the titles with a modified 3D to Carmella. A mediocre match.

Triple H's 25 Year Career Celebration.

WWE Photo

During his entrance, Triple H tried to do his signature water spit but one of WWE's production members took the water out of his hand which I thought was hilarious.

The celebration can't come alone because Shawn Michaels came out to "celebrate" his best friend's career as well as some DX moments like bloopers.

Triple H then had a facetime call from Stephanie McMahon, Ric Flair and Road Dogg and they all congratulated his 25 years of service.

WWE Photo

The final person that congratulated his career was Vince McMahon himself and he actually mentioned the Katie Vick funerals segment almost 18 years back. Vince McMahon then tells the crew to end the show and what an odd way to finish off this episode.

While the final segment was longer than it needed to be, it was pretty funny that WWE decided to twist this to instead make fun of Triple H and bring up his low moments.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The History of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, opening segment, a bit of tension between Sasha Banks and Bayley, Triple H 25 year anniversary with WWE.

Didn't like: Women's tag team title match, Sheamus' squash matches are tiresome and the ending was the same as last week's spot.

If you have read The 5 News Week this past Sunday then you'll know that there won't be a 5 News Week tomorrow but don't you worry because I got a movie review in its place (spoiler's, it is Netflix's Main Event).

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
