The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa. One Final Beat, Cody Advances In The TNT Championship.

WWE Photo
A night that is highlighted by two amazing women's matches, NXT and AEW Dynamite did a great job on delivering a superb episode. Because of how good both shows were, my favourite program out of 2 shows is a tie.

So, congrats to WWE and AEW fans, now you don't have to worry about me "shilling" on either show but what I expect from wrestling fans. A wise man once said, "like what you like, don't be a d*ck".

NXT

Highlights.

Io Shirai vs Mia Yim vs Dakota Kai vs Chelsea Green vs Candice LeRae vs Tegan Nox In A Ladder Match. Winner Gets To Face Charlotte Flair For The NXT Women's Championship.

During the number one contender’s ladder match, Green delivered a double bulldog on both Io Shirai and Candice LeRae.

Nox and Kai went back and forth with straight rights and lefts to which Tegan ends this exchange with a chokeslam which is a rare move to see from a women's wrestler at least in WWE.

Green's business associate, Robert Stone, tried to help Chelsea to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase but Shirai and LeRae pushed the ladder and got rid of Green in the process.

Io sends LeRae onto the ladder by pushing LeRae and retrieved the briefcase to become number one contender for the NXT women's championship.

This is the second fantastic WWE match I've seen this week alone (the first is Aleister Black vs Apollo Crews in case you were curious). I'm sure the crowd would've eaten that up bite by bite.

There are reports going around that Charlotte Flair will defend her title on both RAW and NXT. Will see how WWE works around that. However, an Io Shirai vs Charlotte match though? Sign. Me. Up.

Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa. One Final Beat.

This bout got the cinematic treatment which I did not expect. Now, To say that both guys beat the hell out of each other is me actually describing the match too lightly and doesn't do it justice based on how this match played out.

These dudes fought inside the ring, outside the ring, outside the warehouse, on top of the production truck, outside and inside the ring once again, Candice LeRae screwed her husband with a low blow but turns out Gargano had an object on his crouch and she low blows Tommaso Ciampa which led to a win from Johnny Wrestling. Also, a cameo from Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux.

That spot when Ciampa knocked out the ref was odd given that anything goes in this match and it wasn't a standard one on one encounter. Although, the cinematic look in the bout actually benefited from this intense match.

However, I still cannot get into bad guy Johnny Gargano. Unlike other bad guy runs like Daniel Bryan 2 year ago, He just doesn't have the finesse to make that side of him work. But hey, at least I enjoyed the match.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Finn Balor Explains His Next Move - Pretty much in this promo, Finn set his sights on the UK title saying that Walter's title is on borrowed times.  Apparently, the NXT UK tapings are postponed due to a festival they were attending and was scheduled to film several episodes there. So, I don't know when this feud will have a conclusion or not.

Indus Sher vs Ever-Rise - The newly managed tag team by Malcolm Bivens, Indus Sher, showed a lot of dominance in this match (No sh*t, Omar) and as a result, they won their debuting match with a double team backer breaker into a stomp. I'm liking Bivens in this role.

Rhea Ripley's Reaction To Her NXT Women's Title Loss - WWE replayed the same NXT women's championship post-match interview that Charlotte Flair conducted with Charly Caruso but I haven't seen Rhea Ripley's reaction regarding her loss. Rhea Ripley said, "she's a lot better than I expected".

Is she still stuck in NXT or is her loss a way for the powers that be to move her to either the red or the blue brand? More importantly, is she leaving the US or not given that her visa is apparently expired?

Adam Cole Says That Dream Will Not Take The NXT Championship From Him - In a smartphone promo, Cole stated that Dream got lucky when he defeated Bobby Fish last week and the same will not happen to Adam Cole, bay-bay. A decent promo.

AEW

Highlights.

Dr. Britt Baker vs Hikaru Shida.

This is the best women's match I've seen from AEW since Riho faced Nyla Rose for the women's title. Baker nailed the roll up to Hikaru Shida but Shida turned that into a triangle. Baker hit the sling blade followed by a butterfly suplex which was a great back to back move from the doctor.

Shida delivered the enzuigiri on Baker which led to the doctor bleeding profusely from her nose all the way to her chin. The match concludes when Hikaru strikes Baker with a shining wizard and wins the match.

By far, the most brutal match as far as a women's match in AEW is concerned. That is a fantastic example of how to utilize a women's division to its highest potential. I wanna see more women's matches like this in AEW right now and into the future.

Kenny Omega And Michael Nakasawa vs Best Friends.

The winner gets to take "the best friends" name. Reason being? Well, Nakasawa convinced Kenny Omega to call the duo of himself and Omega as "best friends".

The team that calls themselves as "best friends" heard that and wanted to put that name on the line. And man, they put on a fight because of it. Chuck Taylor and Trent get to keep the "best friends" name with a pin from Trent to Nakasawa. A fun tag team match.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Lance Archer vs Allen Angels- For the second week in a row, Archer wins a match quickly with the blackout finishing move which is a reverse Razor's edge into a slam of some sort. Also, Jake Roberts once again cuts a promo against Cody Rhodes. I'm gonna say this one more time, Robert's cutting promos like it's the 1980s and I am all for it.

Brodie Lee vs Lee Johnson - There was a Brodie Lee segment minutes before this match aired and it was basically him praising one of his dark followers for dressing appropriately while he scolds the other dark followers for the exact opposite reason.

I didn't see this as a Vince McMahon reference until I did some digging and it was, in fact, a reference to Vince in that McMahon likes somebody that dresses nicely. AEW does realize that Lee can portray a crazy perfectionist without the references, right? Oh, and Lee takes the W with a discus clothesline.

Cody Advances In The TNT Championship Tournament Defeating Shawn Spears - Exactly as it sounds but I will say the match was okay. Cody wins with the crossrhodes.

Matt Hardy Challenged Chris Jericho To A Elite Deletion Match- All I can say to that is, don't disappoint me AEW.

The question is, what are some of the highlights on both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Did NXT Just Delivered Their Best Go Home Show!?, A Fantastic AEW Dynamite Main Event.

Did I just witness the best NXT go home show ever?  The answer my friends is yes.  While I prefer NXT this week, AEW Dynamite wasn't bad either and a big step up compared to the series of bore-fest shows they produced.  NXT   Highlights.  Msk vs Legado De La Fantasma. Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament SemiFinals.  God damn. What a way to start off the NXT before Vengeance Day.  Unique offensives from Msk is why that tag team is growing on me pretty quickly.  And luckily for them, they advance to the finals which will be conducted at Takeover: Vengeance Day with a double team manoeuvre.  Xia Li Continues To Dominate.  I've been a fan of whatever NXT is doing with this angle and it's mainly because they're embracing the cinematic scripted nature of the business which is what some consider "unrealistic" for some reason.  And yet, they don't mind The Undertaker shooting lightning-like Static Shock at Royal Rumble 2006 but he...

WWE RAW 5/10/20 | A Coherent Review.

I have not said this in a RAW review in a very long time but the show as a whole was straight up dogsh*t awful.  It's so bad that I didn't like one ounce about this program.  pictures via wwe.com Randy Orton Remembers His Match At Clash Of Champions.  The show started off with Randy Orton recalling certain aspects about the WWE championship match at Clash Of Champions.  Orton goes on to say that Drew doesn't deserve the championship because the legends interfered in the ambulance match.  The promo ended with Orton bringing up the fact that he beat up four legends last week on RAW (again, explain the physics behind this?).  Drew showed up and he laid waste on the guy.  Randy has been quite exceptional in the dialogue department but this ain't it.  The promo actually put me to sleep and the show didn't even hit 10 minutes up until that point.  If they suddenly end the rivalry like nothing happened, while it doesn't make sense, I'm all for it be...
