The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: The Debut Edition Of "The Newly Bro Show'", Two Great TNT Semi-Finals Match.

This episode of AEW Dynamite was an in-ring action-heavy show and because of it, the show was an enjoyable two hours of television at 4 am my time. NXT though, was decent.  Useless information but I realized like minutes before writing the recap that this is the earliest Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays review I’ve ever posted. I somehow watched 4 hours of pro wrestling in one sitting which I’ve never done that on an early Thursday morning.  NXT    Highlights (At least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  El Hijo Del Fantasma vs Isiah "Swerve" Scott. Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.  Two Lucha Underground alumni battling in the tournament which resulted in a pretty good opener. Having El Hijo lose his second match in WWE is kinda odd, however, will see what happens.  A bit of fantasy booking but I would love to witness an El Hijo vs Kushida match for the title. Now that's a dream match. Don't tell me that you're not intr

A Few News I Guess: NXT Japan Ain't Happening?, Thoughts On Apollo Crews' "Injury".

For those wondering, yes, a new instalment of The 5 News Week will be up next week (if you're new, basically every Sunday, I report on the 5 major or minor news of the week hence the name "5 News Week").  It's just something I'm releasing given that I haven't reviewed RAW yesterday. But for now, here are a few news I guess?  NXT Japan Ain't Happening?  The Japanese wrestling scene is something I'm not all too familiar with (I mean, you're the resident WWE shill, Omar, what do you think?).  But, I've been keeping an eye on news regarding NXT's latest expansion in the land of the rising sun for several months now and trust me, there are so many reports dating back several months about this topic that will easily fill 2,000 words. I ain't gonna do all of that.  Almost 2 months ago, Dave Meltzer said in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there's been a worry regarding NXT entering the Japanese wrestling market. Here&

Netflix's The Main Event | A Coherent Review.

Last spring, WWE had announced that they've partnered with Netflix to create content via their movie division on the streaming service. In other words, Netflix decided to feature even more badly marketed and awfully made movies. Luckily, WWE's latest joint isn't that bad at all. Don't get me wrong, it's no " Marriage Story " but, it does pull off a capable effort of telling a story about being yourself (warning, this   review contains a few minor spoilers).  The premise of this movie goes like this. An 11-year-old wrestling fan named Leo (played by Seth Carr) finds a luchador mask that gives him superhuman strength and agility. He then applied his new-found powers to in-ring action where he competes in a $50,000 WWE NXT tournament.  If it sounds familiar, that is because it's pretty much the premise of the film " Like Mike " with obvious differences like this movie is wrestling themed instead of basketball, it stars an 11-yea

WWE Smackdown 24/4/20 | A Coherent Review.

This week's Smackdown show was decent but it wasn't as strong as the previous weeks and *hits his head a few times* here's why.  The New Day Celebrates Their Title Victory. The show kicked off with the now 8th time WWE tag team champions, The New Day and like the title above, they were celebrating their big title win last week (No sh*t, Omar).  During the segment, Kofi mentioned that there's nothing wrong with pointing out that they have more title reigns than The Hart Foundation, Edge and Christian, Demolition, The New Age Outlaws etc because it's them being proud of their accomplishments.  Out came Lucha House Party, The Miz and John Morrison and they pretty much said that they deserve a title shot. The Forgotten Sons showed up to tell The New Day, Lucha House Party and every other tag team watching that they will never be forgotten.  They lived up to that statement as the Forgotten Sons destroyed Lucha House Party and The New Day.  We&#

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Adam Cole Is Back, Bay Bay, Is Brodie Lee's Latest Segment A Dig At Vinnie Mac Again?

As you can tell from the latest posts, there was no Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays piece last week due to the unfortunate news that the amount of WWE superstars were released from the company. For some reason, it ruined my vibe and because of it, I didn't review AEW or NXT.  Now I got the excuse out of the way, how were NXT and Dynamite this week?  The yellow brand did a better job this week especially in the storytelling side of things while Dynamite had some okay matches and segments that wouldn't piss an audience member off but it wouldn't surprise them.  One thing that I'll give Dynamite the benefit of the doubt is that all the storylines decisions were the right decisions.  NXT   Highlights (At least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Adam Cole Is Back, Bay Bay. Inside Balor's locker room, the prince happens to be missing and that led to Velveteen Dream cutting a promo about his upcoming challenger, Finn Balor.  Undisputed Era'

WWE RAW 20/4/20 | A Coherent Review.

This episode of Monday Night RAW felt like if last week's show had a sequel if that analogy makes sense?  It didn't have a new, fresh take on the show and they instead played it safe which is fine. In this case, adding a few risks will definitely help the show from the overall feeling of emptiness metaphorically speaking of course.  Drew McIntyre Addresses The Man That Stomped Him Twice.   McIntyre opens a Monday Night RAW show with a promo for the second episode in a row. He wasn't shocked that Seth Rollins attacked him last week due to his new price possession and how the superstars want that taste of gold.  Angel Garza's music hits and the current United States champion, Andrade, strikes Drew but that led to not one but two claymore kicks on Andrade.  A decent opening segment. Did its job on building the main event match between Garza and Drew McIntyre. It must be cool for Angel Garza to go one on one with THE WWE champion. A definite career highlight

The 5 News Week Look Back At Each Individual Highlight Of Zack Ryder, Lio Rush as Cruiserweight Championship, The Writer Behind The Otis And Mandy Rose Story.

April 15th, 2020 is a memorable day for me. It is definitely the saddest and noteworthy day of not only mine and the fans' lives but as well as the performers and staff who were affected by this. I am of course referring to the day that WWE released dozens of talented, hard-working people.  For those who are new, I usually report on the 5 major or minor news of the week and that was the original plan.  However, since this week is probably going to be known in the future for the releases, I want to instead document 5 of the performers and staff's individual highlights in their tenure with WWE.  Understand that without the hardworking wrestlers, producers, ring crew, writers and the rest of the staff doing what they do best, there wouldn't be a Playard Wrestling Post. Without further ado, Ladies and gentlemen, this is The 5 News Week Look Back.  How Zack Ryder's Popularity In 2011 Played A Role In WWE's YouTube Strategy Today.  It's hard to believe
