My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.

But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.

NXT

Highlights.

Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed.

WWE Photo

Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.

By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.

The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.

Then, Velveteen Dream showed up via a video on the screen still taunting the messiah of the backbreaker. God damn Dream.

I really liked how despite the distraction, Strong still picked up the win. Also, I'm glad that the resident thick boy, Bronson Reed is being showcased in the upper midcard scene because the dude is Ta. Len. Ted.

A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland.

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament winners decided to take a road trip all the way to Portland and they barely reached half-way. The reason being?

They were stopped by police and thanks to both guys having no license, the car was taken from them.

How will they get to Portland? Is it a different car? Public transportation? How? The answer was seeking in Triple H's private jet. This was funny not gonna like. We don't see a lot of humour in NXT and it's a nice balance.

Johnny Gargano vs Cameron Grimes.

This match was F'ing awesome. Both guys hit each other with a crossbody. The match ended with a Gargano escape and he got the win going into Portland.

I am now officially a fan of Cameron Grimes. I didn't get the initial push from Grimes but after months of showcasing the guy,  he just grew on me quickly.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Candice LeRae vs Dakota Kai - A decent match. Kai wins with a roll-up to which she hits LeRae with a ring bell and Candice was saved by a revenge heavy Tegan Nox. That street fight this Sunday is gonna be great.

Chelsea Green Gets Her Rematch Against Kayden Carter Next Week -  Cool.

Angel Garza vs Lio Rush Number One Contender's Match For The Cruiserweight Championship  - I don't know why but it's as if Garza's appearance on RAW this week was nothing more than an illusion on NXT TV and not reality but I'm just nitpicking. This was a solid match though. Rush wins and goes on to face the NXT cruiserweight champion, Jordan Devlin.

Mark Henry Puts Over An Upcoming North American Championship Match At Takeover: Portland - This was a good video package about what it takes to be a big man in the black and gold brand in a competitive championship scene.

Bianca Belair vs Santana Garrett - This was a quick one. Belair wins here with the KOD. Belair then grabbed the microphone to say that the Rhea Ripley isn't paying attention to her challenger.

WWE Photo

Out came Ripley and the champ says that she isn't looking pass Belair but rather at her and Ripley will go through her at Takeover: Portland. They then had a bit of brawl and Belair knocked Ripley out by hitting the second KOD of the night.

Will find out this Sunday or the weeks after if the NXT women's championship match leads to a triple threat match between Ripley, Belair and Charlotte or not.

Adam Cole vs Kushida - By the way, that Tommaso Ciampa promo on the auditorium was great. This was a decent match that led to a final staredown before Portland between the champ and the challenger.

AEW

Highlights.

Kenny Omega And Hangman Page vs SCU In Scorpio Sky And Frank Kazarian For The AEW World Tag Team Championship.

First off, I loved in the graphics card that it says "days of sober, Hangman Page - 0". That was hilarious.

After that, A Dark Order video package was played just when the match was about to start and Christopher Daniels left ringside to check on what's going on. Both SCU members delivered the cutter simultaneously which looked cool.

What also looked cool was that clothesline/V-Trigger combination from the tag champs that ended the match still tag champs.

Then, The Dark Order, The Butcher, The Blade or the BB, Angelico, Jack Evans, Best Friends and The Young Bucks all brawled showing the audience a taste of what's going to happen next week. A good tag team match and a decent after match action.

Santana Describes His Past Life In The Bronx.

In a sit-down interview with Jim Ross, Santana talked about how he wasn't feeling his best with no job and overall direction in his life a decade ago and mentioned his father.

I'm surprised Jim Ross wasn't attacked considering that guys like Kane, Mick Foley etc attacked Ross during or after his interview.

That promo from Santana was no pun intended, powerful. You can feel his emotion just by him describing his father. Such good stuff.

Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

Tony Schiavone asked her why she took out Yuka Sakazaki's tooth last week to which Baker answered saying that she did it with the best of intentions but the crowd was not having it.

Baker called the crowd "chubby Whataburger faces" and flexes on the fact that she got 3 degrees and being the first women ever signed to All Elite Wrestling. Her chemistry with Tony is becoming my new favourite thing in all of wrestling right now.

She went from cutting a bad heel promo weeks back to now a good heel promo and that's a great example of how time really flies.

Riho vs Nyla Rose For The AEW Women's World Championship.

I praised their first encounter on the first-ever episode of AEW Dynamite and this was no exception in my opinion. Nyla Rose tried to hit a modified chokeslam of some but Riho reversed that with a crucifix pin.

Rose then delivered the avalanche death valley driver and Riho kicked out. Riho did a dragon suplex followed by another suplex this time it was the Northern Lights minutes later.

Rose storms Riho with a spear leading to a sitout powerbomb and that's how Nyla Rose became the new AEW Women's champion. That should've been the outcome on the first episode but I ain't complaining because it finally happened.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Dustin Rhodes vs Sammy Guevara - This was aight. Rhodes wins his match with the final reckoning. The winner of the previous match called out Jake Hager to challenge him for a match at the upcoming Revolution PPV which is now made official.

MJF vs Jungle Boy - We haven't seen MJF compete inside the ring in what it feels like forever and it was okay. MJF wins with the crossrhodes.

On commentary though, Jim Ross channelled his inner babyface WWE days from the early 2000s in full form. Oh, and Wardlow attacked Jungle Boy.

Jon Moxley vs Santana. Eye For An Eye - That was a take it or leave it type of bout.
Ortiz splashed alcohol on Moxley's eyes which led to a cannonball on Moxley from Santana but that wasn't enough because Moxley hit the underhook DDT to win this match.

The rest of The Inner Circle including the debuting Jeff Cobb assaulted Jon Moxley with no one to help the guy.

The question is, what are some of the highlights on both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE RAW 5/10/20 | A Coherent Review.

I have not said this in a RAW review in a very long time but the show as a whole was straight up dogsh*t awful.  It's so bad that I didn't like one ounce about this program.  pictures via wwe.com Randy Orton Remembers His Match At Clash Of Champions.  The show started off with Randy Orton recalling certain aspects about the WWE championship match at Clash Of Champions.  Orton goes on to say that Drew doesn't deserve the championship because the legends interfered in the ambulance match.  The promo ended with Orton bringing up the fact that he beat up four legends last week on RAW (again, explain the physics behind this?).  Drew showed up and he laid waste on the guy.  Randy has been quite exceptional in the dialogue department but this ain't it.  The promo actually put me to sleep and the show didn't even hit 10 minutes up until that point.  If they suddenly end the rivalry like nothing happened, while it doesn't make sense, I'm all for it be...

WWE NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff | My Coherent Review.

via WWE I don't watch or review the first NXT UK Takeover for some odd reason but I'm so glad I did because that was like the main NXT Takeovers, was absolutely great to watch. I'm just speechless and if you have watched the show then you'll know why (also, if you somehow didn't watch this show, what are you doing? Go and treat yourself with some wrestling goodness.) Noam Dar vs Travis Banks.  A very enjoyable opening match. Noam Dar proves that he's great at what he does with so many submission holes because if you don't know, I'm a technical wrestling connoisseur. Noam Dar won the match with a standing shining wizard.  Cesaro vs Ilja Dragunov. Always great to see Cesaro do what he does best and that's a fight inside the square circle. So, Ilja called out Cesaro because Cesaro's looking for an open challenge and Cesaro obviously picked his challenger.  The Swiss Cyborg started off this match by throwing Dragunov to the outside ...
