My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Did Jon Moxley Accept The Offer From Jericho?, A Fun Fatal Four Way Match.

This night of wrestling gave me apples to spaceships difference regarding the overall quality of both shows. NXT was enjoyable while Dynamite was just mediocre, to say the least.

Other than one match and the ending, AEW's flagship show didn't click for me. For that, NXT takes the cake.

NXT

Highlights.

The Undisputed Era In Bobby Fish And Kyle O'Reilly vs Gallus.  Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament First Round.

WWE Photo

Undisputed Era delivers the double team kick to Wolfgang. Mark Coffey then slams O'Reilly down with the uranage. Adam Cole kicked Wolfgang's head while the ref was arguing with Fish to which the NXT tag team champions hits the high low and advances to the next round. A fun tag team match.

Gallus taking an L in that fashion was the right decision in my opinion given that they are the tag team champions of a brand they're in hence making Gallus' win in this scenario, useless which they obviously didn't win but don't be surprised if I contradicted myself within weeks because I'm a wrestling a fan, what do you think? Will see how Gallus does at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool 2.

Johnny Gargano Addresses Finn Balor.

WWE Photo

Gargano states in a passionate promo that while Balor was the extraordinary man that does extraordinary things, Johnny Gargano took what Balor built as the flag bearer for NXT and took it to the next level.

Speaking of the devil or the demon in this case, Finn Balor came out to sarcastically congratulate Gargano for that promo and challenges him to a match at Takeover: Portland.

The way Gargano mentioned Balor's old nickname was hilarious. This entire segment had no physical interaction and it grows some tension despite that. Now that's how you built a feud with no brawl in it.

Chelsea Green Makes A Statement.

WWE Photo
After Mia Yim wins her match against Kayden Carter, Chelsea Green shows up by hitting Carter and Yim from behind while Robert Stone aka Robbie E talks greatly about Green.

Just so you thought that the NXT women's division is at an all-time high in terms of overall star power, Chelsea Green showing up made sure that it goes even higher.

Keith Lee vs Dominic Djakovic vs Cameron Grimes vs Damian Priest In A Number One Contenders Match For The North American Championship.

WWE Photo

Priest took out all the competitors in the fatal four-way match with a Spanish style suicide dive. Djakovic and Priest had a back and forth series of kicks but Lee ended that with a double chokeslam leading to a spinning slam by Cameron Grimes.

Keith Lee delivers the spirit bomb aka a fantastic looking sitout powerbomb and Lee becomes number one contender for the North American championship.

I wasn't a fan of Cameron Grimes but the past weeks for some odd reason, he's growing on me quick. As far as the match goes, it was to quote Robert Roode "glorious".

Some Other Things That Happened.

Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae And Toni Storm vs Bianca Belair, Kay Lee Ray And Io Shirai - Before this, Rhea Ripley opened the show by telling the audience about the memories in Full Sail.

Everybody in this tag team match showed up to state their claim for number one contender ship except for Kay Lee Ray. Thanks to Io, Ripley hits the Riptide and wins this match.

Did Vince's creative team write this first segment because it felt generic?  Nevertheless, it at least built to a Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley face off at Worlds Collide.

The Forgotten Sons vs Imperium In Fabian Aichner And Marcel Barthel. Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Tournament - This was aight. Imperium wins with the European powerbomb.

Austin Theory vs Joaquin Wilde - Theory wins with the fireman's carry into a cutter. Impressive showing for the former Evolve competitor.

AEW

Highlights.

Cody And Dustin Rhodes vs The Lucha Brothers.

The Rhodes brothers reunite on this episode of AEW by facing the Lucha Brothers in a good old fashioned tag team match.

Dustin Rhodes hits the Arn Anderson style spinebuster in order for the older Rhodes to tag the younger one leading to a tag and a huge comeback by Cody.

Dustin hits the Canadian destroyer followed by the final reckoning which led and the Rhodes brothers wins this bout. Tony Schiavone asked Cody about MJF's stipulation and Cody didn't answer the question but rather it was his coach in Arn Anderson and he basically said that Cody needs some healing.

The match was good. Loved the Rhodes brothers teaming up once more. Reminds me of when they reunited for the first time to fight The Shield all those years back.

Jon Moxley Mentions Whether He Accepts Jericho's Offer Or Not.

He responded the offer by saying yes and we thought that he's actually part of the Inner Circle but he pulled a swerve on the group and hits the DDT on Jericho and Guevara. I was about to crap on this segment but the higher-ups over at AEW fooled me and you know what? That was awesome.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Kenny Omega And Hangman Page vs Private Party - Page and Omega wins here with the one-winged angel to Marq Quen. Pac locks in the rings of Saturn submission on Micheal Nakasawa in a locker room filmed for the audience to witness including Kenny Omega and Omega ran to the rescue which led to the audience giving Page some beer.

I don't mind storylines that portrays a character that is down mentally but I'm not feeling that storyline, to be honest. It gives me Scott Hall WCW vibes.

Riho vs Kris Stadtlander For The AEW Women's Championship - The match ended with a distraction thanks to Brandi Rhodes and her gang that includes Luther (I don’t know who that person was before googling him and found out the fact that he’s a Japanese deathmatch legend so there you go).

Riho is still women's champion. Oh, and Big Swole and Hikaru Shida save the champ and the challenger after the beating they took from Awesome Kong and Mel. The match would've been better if it wasn't for the constant distractions from Brandi and her alliance.

Sammy Guevara vs Christopher Daniels - Pentagon jr shouts to Daniels to show him (I was as confused as you are) and that led to a W from Guevara with a knee strike. The Dark Order showed up and the leader of that group convinces him to join The Dark Order and will make him the man that Daniels once was.

Obviously, Daniels refused and he paid the consequences for it but thankfully, The Youngs Bucks and the rest of SCU made the save. I don't like the fact that SCU is feuding with The Dark Order and the Lucha Bros at the same time.

Sounds like a criticism for Cody and how he feuds with MJF, The Dark Order and The Butcher, The Blade and The Bunny all at the same time like he's spiderman fighting against the sinister six but a lot messier narratively.

MJF Does Some MJF Things Again - Let me get this out of the way. This segment sucked. MJF called Cody a coward. DDP showed up, cut a boring promo. The BBB aka Butcher, Blade and Bunny showed up. MJF told DDP to kiss his ring and told him that he'll bang his daughter.

DDP took a beating from MJF, Wardlow and The BBB. That's how the segment was crafted and it was executed poorly. That promo especially from DDP while I'm a fan of his, bored me to death.

The Jurassic Express vs Best Friends - The Express wins here with a roll-up from Jungle Boy. A decent match.

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
