WWE Smackdown 8/11/19 | My Coherent Review.

Unlike last week's show, we've now tuned in to its regular scheduled episode of Smackdown this time in Manchester, England and it was the usual Smackdown formula. An uninspired episode of Smackdown on Fox with the exception of last week's episode of course.

King Corbin. Just King Corbin.

WWE Photo
King Corbin opened his mouth by stating the obvious that at Survivor Series, RAW will battle SmackDown and NXT in the name of brand supremacy. Baron then went on to praise Roman for fighting Leukaemia but he also said that Roman has a small package basically.

Afterwards, Corbin played a video of a dog barking but in a soft tone which was his version of Eddie Murphy's delirious in the sense that it was actually funny to him and ended this promo basically telling that he'll beat Roman in the main event of Smackdown.

Corbin is known for his decent mic skills but this ain't it. It was lame in so many ways that Dr Strange in Avengers: Infinity War had to slow himself on finding ways of how that promo was so God damn lame (to non-Marvel fans, that reference would've lost them like that Christopher Reeves' Superman Gif).

The New Day in Kofi Kingston And Big E vs The Revival For The SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo
A decent match. Both members of The Revival delivers a DDT. The match ended with a modified Hart Foundation's heart attack to Dash Wilder, however, instead of the clothesline, it was the trouble in paradise to win the tag team championship. That finish, was a way to honour the old school while simultaneously adding an innovative spin to it.

Sami Zayn was trying to convince Bryan to join Zayn and Nakamura's side meanwhile, Imperium (yes, The group from NXT UK) were beating up Heavy Machinery during Machinery's entrance.

Also, Kalya Braxton interviewed Bayley and Sasha Banks about Shayna Baszler and Sasha said that the NXT women's division will always live on their shadow given that they put that division on the map (that was a great answer).

Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro vs Ali and Shorty G.

WWE Photo
The commentary were talking about CBS's video piece on Ali's journey as a Muslim pro wrestler and you guys should watch it because it's good.

Thanks to Sami Zayn, Nakamura hits the Kinshasa to Ali and won this tag team match alongside Cesaro while Daniel Bryan was looking on near the stage area.

They should stretch this story out till Wrestlemania season because it's a great story if executed right but WWE doesn't think about next month or the next 6 months if that.

Nikki Cross vs Sasha Banks.

WWE Photo
Nikki knocked out Bayley for a bit with a punch but when Cross tries to handle Sasha Banks inside the ring, Bayley distracted which gave Banks the control in this match and lasted in the end with the bank’s statement.

Shayna Baszler came back and did what she did last week, beat up Bayley once more. Sasha Banks' new entrance is something I should get used to because I'm not liking it right now.

Sami Zayn told Daniel Bryan that Bryan should've celebrated, however, the new universal champion in The Fiend, choked out Daniel with the mandible claw. Probably the most interesting thing about this episode.

Tyson Fury's First WWE Appearance Following Crown Jewel.

WWE Photo
A man that gave the fans one of the worst professional wrestling match of the year in Tyson Fury said in an in-ring promo that he has unfinished business with Braun Strowman to which the monster among men immediately showed up without Fury calling him out.

Fury offered to shake his hand and Braun Strowman with no revenge in his eyes, shook his hands which led to Fury telling him that they should be a tag team.

WWE Photo
The B Team came out and said that the letter B stands for fearless and Strowman took them out with a shoulder tackle from Strowman and a knockout punch from Tyson Fury.

Other than B Team's funny line, this was a waste of my miserable time. No Fs given when watching this segment.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs Carmella and Dana Brooke.

WWE Photo
The babyface won this tag team bout with an impressive looking rolling senton from the top rope by Dana Brooke to Sonya Deville.

Roman Reigns vs King Corbin.

WWE Photo
Baron Corbin has some ring gear for the first time in a year so that's cool I guess? Dolph  Ziggler and Robert Roode showed up for some reason and stomps on Reigns without the ref's awareness.

Reigns was about to end this match with a W in his record but after Ziggler ate a spear by Roman, Corbin immediately took Reigns and the king takes the W. The match was okay. Nothing too special.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The finish of the tag team title match, Sasha Banks promo in her interview with Kayla Braxton, The Fiend choking out Daniel Bryan leads to an interesting cliffhanger.

Didn't like: King Corbin's promo, the Tyson Fury segment with Braun Strowman.

My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.  But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.  NXT    Highlights.  Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.  By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.  The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.  Then,...

Top 3 BEST Distraction Finishes EVER!

Distraction endings to a wrestling match in WWE depend on one another if you think about it. It's like the peanut butter and jelly or the chicken and the basmati biryani rice or Dan Lambert and sexism.  "Why top 3", you may ask? Because one, I'm different and two, well, I'm different, so be gone to the mofos that think it's shorter than Brock Lesnar's bout with Kofi Kingston.  (WARNING: This piece is mostly sarcasm).  Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Wrestlemania 28.  I know this made your eyebrows raise as high as Rocky Maivia but think about this. The kiss from AJ Lee that led to a brogue kick from Sheamus, has in some way, led to the general audience seeing how Daniel Bryan should be WAY higher in the overall arc than where he was at that time.  Also, this was also the year where Bryan showed off his comedic chops with his "NO" catchphrase and his tag team run with the big red conservative, Kane.  If anything, this distraction finish was a great chara...

Roman Reigns Relinquishes The Universal Title Because He Has Leukemia.

I have a sad and unfortunate news to break. Two hours ago on RAW, Roman cut a great promo pretty much stating that he's been living with leukemia for over 11 years and the disease's return forced him to give up the universal championship. The segment ended with both shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins gave a group hug to Roman and did the triple shield fist pump. Ever since that, fellow WWE superstars reacted to the news on Twitter and here are the tweets so far. An amazing human being, an incredible performer & a man I’m proud to be friends with. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Get well soon, champ! #ThankYouRoman https://t.co/jL1Q5dVvzs — #WOKEN, yet #BROKEN, Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) October 23, 2018 My heart right now ....
