WWE Clash Of Champions 2019 | My Coherent Review.

This Clash of Champions show was one enormous meh. Also, AJ Styles in the pre-show? That's a first but that match was pretty decent as well as the cruiserweight championship match.

Seth Rollins And Braun Strowman vs Dolph Ziggler And Robert Roode For The RAW Tag team Championship.

WWE Photo

During this tag team title match, Ziggler hits a devastating looking DDT to Seth Rollins outside the ring. The odd couple then delivered quick tag team moves but moments later Rollins reversed Ziggler's sleeper hold into a falcon arrow to which Rollins tagged Braun Strowman and took out Ziggler and Roode for a bit.

This match has ended with a Glorious DDT from Robert Roode to Seth Rollins after Braun accidentally knocked out Rollins and Ziggler threw the monster among men over the top rope.

A decent opener with a predictable ending that I don't mind. Maybe a triple threat match between the odd couple, The Viking Raiders and The O.C in Gallows and Anderson for the tag team championship? We shall see.

Two backstage interviews happen back to back one was Braun Strowman and the other was Becky Lynch and one of the things that was similar on those interviews was that they want to walk out Charlotte, North Carolina as champion.

Bayley vs Charlotte Flair For the SmackDown Live Women's Championship.

WWE Photo
The match started off with a big boot but Bayley kicked out very quickly and that dominance from Charlotte continues throughout the first half of this woman's title.

However, the match ended with Bayley removing the bottom turnbuckle pad without the ref's awareness and pushed Charlotte's face on the exposed bottom turnbuckle to win this match.

I wonder how's Bayley going to explain that on Tuesday? I really like this finish and the reason being is that it slowly builds into a full-fledged heel Bayley. Now that's how you build a character right there.

The New Day in Xavier Woods And Big E vs The Revival For The SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

The Revival took out Xavier Woods and that match turned into a 2 on 1 handicap match between The Revival and Big E but that lasted for a while. Xavier Woods then got a comeback until The Revival took out the injured knee from Woods again and got rid of Big E with a shatter machine on the outside.

Xavier Woods also ate a shatter machine and he tapped out with a submission move that I don't know the name of to win the SmackDown Live tag team champions.

After the match, they cut a very good promo saying that the tag team division has been revived. Really an odd choice to give those belts to a tag team from a different brand because wildcard am I right?

Alexa Bliss And Nikki Cross vs Mandy Rose And Sonya Deville Aka Fire And Desire For The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

Before this match, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were interviewed by Kayla Braxton and R Truth along with Carmella shoves the microphone on Bliss. The reason? Well, he liked "Camellia's" (Alexa Bliss) voice and she used her voice to alert that R Truth is in the arena which led to the rest of the WWE roster chasing him.

That was funny not gonna lie. The 24/7 title situation was happening while the women's championship was on the line even Bliss attempting to win the 24/7 championship with a roll-up but R Truth kicked out and ran to the crowd area so that the rest of the WWE roster couldn't find the guy.

WWE Photo

Fire And Desire delivered a very good double team move to Bliss but Cross broke up the pin. The match has ended with a swinging neckbreaker of the top rope and retained the titles.

I talked about the 24/7 championship more than the women's tag team championship so that should tell you the state of the women's tag team titles right now.

That division or lack thereof, needs like a style of the Mae Young Classic tournament but for women's tag team wrestling because that's how you fix the women's tag team division, at least in my opinion. The match was aight though and it's great to see Carmella back.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs The Miz For The Intercontinental Championship.

WWE Photo

Sami Zayn came out with a neck brace before he introduces the intercontinental champion, Shinsuke Nakamura, before the match has started. Sami then got his microphone cut off likely due to his Sebastian "Bash" Howard like commentary (shout out to you if you get the reference).

Miz was about to capture his 9th intercontinental championship with the skull-crushing finale but Sami distracted the ref and minutes later, Shinsuke hits Miz hard with the Kinshasa and retained his title.

It looks like we're getting a rematch and unfortunately, The Miz is still eating Ls like it's chick fil a.

Becky Lynch vs Sasha Banks For The RAW Women's Championship.

WWE Photo

This was the best match of the night filled with Meh matches at best. A breath of fresh air that this show needed and here are the highlights. Sasha delivered a Meteora from the top rope to Becky. Sasha Banks hits two backstabbers and locked in the bank statement but Lynch caught the ropes.

Afterwards, Banks tried to hit Becky with a chair and Becky grabbed the chair from Banks but Lynch accidentally hits the referee which led to both women brawling in the crowd area, in the concession stand and back in the crowd area.

WWE Photo

Becky locked in the disarmher with a steel chair hooked in and the officials broke that up. If there are two things I could nitpick is one, where's Bayley and two, why would Sasha hit a chair to Becky if she wants to become champion?

I mean she did talk about how she was jealous at Becky for main eventing Wrestlemania but she didn't dive in her hatred for Becky further. However, like I said earlier, the match was awesome and I'm not gonna taking my liking for this match just because I have my nitpicks.

Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton For The WWE Championship.

WWE Photo

When Greg Hamilton announced Randy Orton's weight at 250 pounds, Randy replied with "55" which was really funny. The match started off really slow like their SummerSlam match a month ago and it stayed that way throughout this title match.

Randy hits the RKO to Kofi but Kingston's leg was on the bottom rope. The match ends with a finish in the trouble in paradise from the WWE champion to Orton and Kingston is still champion. This match was basically my overall thoughts of this match which was meh.

The Street Profits had a very entertaining interaction with King Booker or BOOKAAAA!!

Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan. No Disqualification Match.

Both guys brawled throughout the crowd area just like the RAW women's championship match earlier. Rowan then delivered a rock bottom to Reigns which is the same rock bottom that he took to lose a match in seconds by The Rock at Wrestlemania 3 years ago back.

WWE Photo

He then threw Roman through a table and quickly covered the big dog but he kicked out. Roman was hammering on Rowan until the returning Luke Harper came out and delivered him that spinning clothesline and a second Iron Claw from Rowan and Erick Rowan won this match.

I guess Meltzer’s update on Vince not seeing value on Harper is completely not true based on what just happened. I'm happy to see Luke Harper back and actually being used on a major storyline like that. That match, however, was really boring.

Seth Rollins vs Braun Strowman For The Universal Championship.

WWE Photo

Braun Strowman absolutely destroyed Seth Rollins even though he ate two superkicks and a frog splash and he was still dominant in the first half of this match.

Rollins then delivers two suicide dives on Braun Strowman which led to the german announce table being broken due to how Strowman sold the suicide dives.

The monster among men almost put Rollins down with a splash from the top rope and moments later, Strowman ate 3 stomps from Rollins but the big man kicked out. Rollins hits Strowman with the pedigree and a 4th stomp and Seth retained the ugly red belt in a very good main event.

WWE Photo

After the match, the lights went down and you know where I'm going with this. Bray Wyatt choked out Seth Rollins with the mandible claw after he delivers Seth with Sister Abigail. A great way to end a meh show overall and I'm curious as to how WWE builds this feud going into Hell in a Cell.

Also to be completely honest, Strowman looked good in defeat but I don't know where the monster among men goes from here other than probably giving him the 24/7 belt considering that the title picture has been stale.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Sasha vs Becky, Rollins vs Braun Strowman.

Didn't like: How the women's tag team championship and the 24/7 got mixed up, Reigns vs Rowan other than the ending, how The RAW women's championship was booked in certain moments like Bayley not showing up to help Sasha and Sasha trying to hit Becky with a chair.

The real question is, was Clash Of Champions great, terrible or somewhat in between? Sound off in the comments below. Follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy and follow this very blog for honest pro wrestling opinions. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.  But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.  NXT    Highlights.  Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.  By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.  The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.  Then,...

Top 3 BEST Distraction Finishes EVER!

Distraction endings to a wrestling match in WWE depend on one another if you think about it. It's like the peanut butter and jelly or the chicken and the basmati biryani rice or Dan Lambert and sexism.  "Why top 3", you may ask? Because one, I'm different and two, well, I'm different, so be gone to the mofos that think it's shorter than Brock Lesnar's bout with Kofi Kingston.  (WARNING: This piece is mostly sarcasm).  Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Wrestlemania 28.  I know this made your eyebrows raise as high as Rocky Maivia but think about this. The kiss from AJ Lee that led to a brogue kick from Sheamus, has in some way, led to the general audience seeing how Daniel Bryan should be WAY higher in the overall arc than where he was at that time.  Also, this was also the year where Bryan showed off his comedic chops with his "NO" catchphrase and his tag team run with the big red conservative, Kane.  If anything, this distraction finish was a great chara...

Roman Reigns Relinquishes The Universal Title Because He Has Leukemia.

I have a sad and unfortunate news to break. Two hours ago on RAW, Roman cut a great promo pretty much stating that he's been living with leukemia for over 11 years and the disease's return forced him to give up the universal championship. The segment ended with both shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins gave a group hug to Roman and did the triple shield fist pump. Ever since that, fellow WWE superstars reacted to the news on Twitter and here are the tweets so far. An amazing human being, an incredible performer & a man I’m proud to be friends with. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Get well soon, champ! #ThankYouRoman https://t.co/jL1Q5dVvzs — #WOKEN, yet #BROKEN, Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) October 23, 2018 My heart right now ....
