The 5 News Week: Corey Graves On Vince Screaming In His Ears, AJ Lee To Co-Write A GLOW Comic Series.
Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.
This time it is a new series and It's set to be written by former WWE Divas champion AJ Lee and Aimee Garcia best known for playing Ella Lopez on the formerly FOX now Netflix's Lucifer (love that show) along with artist Hannah Templer who by the way, worked on that previous GLOW series. This new series also a four-part issue, is summarized by the Hollywood Reporter as quote:
"the eponymous Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling find themselves with an unexpected new nemesis: A news anchor who’s determined to convince everyone who’ll listen that wrestling can and will corrupt the youth of America. But even as they’re struggling to convince everyone else — and themselves — that they’re not a bad influence on children, they find themselves responsible for a preteen runaway who’s been living under the ring."
The series begins this November. I'm a casual comic book reader so I might check it out.
They are instead going to launch a podcast network with several wrestler centric shows thanks to the guys over at Endeavor Audio which is the same company that helped launch fellow WWE alumnus Nikki and Brie Bella's podcast called, you guessed it, "The Bella Twins podcast". Here's a statement from WWE:
"Storytelling is at WWE’s core, and we are eager to add the audio genre to our portfolio,” said Jayar Donlan, Executive Vice President, WWE Advanced Media. “Partnering with Endeavor Audio, an expert in podcasting, will enable us to provide our fans with unique content and reach new audiences across the platform.”
WWE has also mentioned "Additional details, including launch timing and content creative, will be announced in the coming weeks.
That story was broken by The Hollywood Reporter (two Hollywood Reporter stories in a row. what is this? A wrestling blog or a movie blog?). WWE has jumped into the documentary world and they produced some of the best documentaries and who says that they can't do that with podcasting?
I think this is a smart move given how I mentioned before that the medium is so popular right now and the best part is that like any podcast, a person can listen to it while driving, working out, cleaning, cooking, etc.
"I remember the first time he did it. The first time he reprimanded me for anything, I was on camera. And you know, it’s different when you’re not on camera, you can kinda just play it naturally and acknowledge it. But when you’re staring at the lights, and all of a sudden Vince is yelling at you in your ear, it’s like really hard to keep your composure, and keep your train of thought. And I’m pretty sure when it happened, I just locked up in the middle of a sentence. Because it was like ‘Oh no, I’m dead! What’s happening?’ It just trumps everything that’s going on in the world.”
"When Vince moved NXT off his own Network, it tells us all we need to know. Is WWE aware and cautious about the development of AEW? The answer is obviously 'Yes.' Should they be? I don't really know. No one is going to supplant WWE as the number one sports entertainment company in the world. The goal of AEW is to provide a great product to lapsed fans and others with an athletically based, old-school oriented product. And to make a profit for the Khan family. It's all about us. Not about them. It should motivate all of our guys. They should see this as a competitive challenge. All I give a damn about is how well our show is going to be at All Out. Bring it on. Let's compete. Hopefully, we won't break down into some Mickey Mouse, infantile bullshit on either side."
That is good news. Can't wait to see him at All Out this coming Saturday.
AJ Lee To Co-Write A GLOW Comic Series.
GLOW or gorgeous ladies of wrestling makes its return to the comic book world and I say that because there was already a GLOW comic book series released with 4 issues that lasted until this past July. WWE Gearing Up For A Podcast Network.
Everybody and their mama got a podcast now especially on the wrestling side of things and WWE is throwing his ball into the basket that is podcasting but with a slight twist.

Corey Graves On Vince Screaming In His Ears.
Corey Graves has been on the RAW announce team for 2 years and just like any other commentator that has worked with the old man, they at some point, have been yelled at including the saviour of misbehaviour in an interview with Sean Mooney (remember him? Transcripts via 411MANIA):"I remember the first time he did it. Jim Ross On The Recent NXT Move To USA.
If you have been on the Internet this past Tuesday then you'll know that NXT is moving to the USA network on Sept 18th. Well, good old JR has his opinions on the matter like every other wrestling fans out there and aired it on his Grilling JR podcast (transcript via Jeremy Lambert over at Fightful):"When Vince moved NXT off his own Network, it tells us all we need to know. Is WWE aware and cautious about the development of AEW? The answer is obviously 'Yes.' Should they be? I don't really know. No one is going to supplant WWE as the number one sports entertainment company in the world.
