WWE NXT Takeover: New York | My Coherent Review.

My second Takeover review on this very blog so far and no shocker, it's great. Watch it if you haven't already.

War Raiders vs Aleister Black and Ricochet for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

WWE Photo

Minutes after the match has begun, both teams were going back and forth with reversals which was entertaining to watch. So many noteworthy moments in this match like when Hanson delivered a Swanton bomb to Aleister Black and Rowe onto the outside and immediately after that, Ricochet did a corkscrew moonsault of some sort from the top rope to Rowe and Hanson.

The match ended with The War Raiders delivered the Fallout to Ricochet and just like that, they retained their tag team championship. After the match, The War Raiders showed some respect to Aleister Black and Ricochet. Then, Black and Ricochet thanked the audience in New York.

What a great opening and that ending was even better. The thing I really love about the ending is that It was simple but so satisfying.

Velveteen Dream vs Matt Riddle for the NXT North American Championship.

WWE Photo

Obviously, something ain't right when The Velveteen Dream doesn't have a great entrance in a Takeover show.  During the match, Velveteen Dream was going for a top rope double axe handle onto the outside but Riddle reversed that into a German suplex.

Minutes later, Matt Riddle did a German suplex from the middle rope and then immediately did the floating bro which is a twisting Senton bomb to The Velveteen Dream.

The match ended with Matt Riddle delivered the bro mission and quickly, The Velveteen Dream did a roll-up pin which led to the Dream’s victory. Another great match and a finish that I actually don't mind. We're definitely seeing a rematch between those two men.

After the commercial break, a former 6 time IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Kushida has officially joined NXT and was standing in the front row. I cannot wait to watch him in NXT soon.

Pete Dunne vs WALTER for the WWE UK Championship.

WWE Photo

This was a straight beating from Walter to Pete Dunne for the most part. However, Dunne at one point, used a plethora of submission holds to keep the big man down which is rather smart if you ask me. Dunne then did a sitout powerbomb to Walter but Walter obviously kicked out of that one.

Walter delivered a devastating shotgun dropkick to Pete Dunne which I don't know how Dunne managed to continue this match after that kick. The match ended with Walter delivered a powerbomb to Pete Dunne from the top rope which led to Walter hitting a splash and won the championship. This was a great big man, small man encounter and hopefully, there's a rematch coming soon.

Shayna Baszler vs Kairi Sane vs Bianca Belair vs Io Shirai for the NXT Women's Championship.

Belair drives both of The Sky Pirates into the canvas...

During the match, Belair gave a kiss hand gesture to Kairi Sane but instead she took that kiss, threw it to Io Shirai and Io swung it to the crowd which was funny. The match ended with Bianca Belair delivered a double KOD to Sane and Shirai, then Baszler grabbed Belair with the clutch submission, made Belair tap out and retained the championship.

Decent match but I didn't expect that finish. I thought that this was a perfect time to crown a new women's champion. Will have to wait and see who's Shayna Baszler gonna face next.

Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole. 2 out of 3 falls match for the NXT Championship.

Gargano and Cole get into a nasty mid-air collision.

The main event. This is it for this epic show but was it great? O. M. GOODNESS YES. This match had so many variations of kicks and that might not be some people's cup of coffee but I really, really, really like it. During the match, Adam Cole did a fairytale ending finish on the announce table which the table didn't break.

Minutes later, The rest of the Undisputed Era came out and Kylie O'Reilly put his fingers on Johnny's eyes which led to O'Reilly and Bobby Fish delivered a double team manoeuvre while the ref was pushed onto the outside. Adam Cole pinned Johnny Gargano and the referee eventually counted to a 2 ½.

The match ended with Johnny Gargano delivered the GargaNO escape to Adam Cole and Cole tapped out which means that Johnny Gargano is the new NXT Champion. After the match, Tomasso Ciampa came out to show respect to his longtime friend/rival. What a match, what a show. If that didn't convince you to watch NXT then I don't know what will.

So, to recap for all of you slow……………

What I'm I doing? This show was great. No negatives from me.

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
