Top 7 Best WWE TV Matches of 2018.

Whether RAW, Smackdown Live, 205 Live or NXT were enjoyable or not in 2018, those shows did gave us some of the best matches on free TV and I’m gonna rank 7 of the best WWE TV matches. Keep in mind that this countdown is based on opinions only.

7. Rey Mysterio vs Andrade “Cien” Almas | Smackdown Live Nov. 6th Episode.

Even though Rey Mysterio right now has been doing alright since returning and staying on the Smackdown Live roster permanently two months ago, there’s no denying that he still can deliver a classic and this one was no exception.

Andrade however, hasn’t been in a major feud for several months now but that doesn’t mean that when he is on a match, he can’t give us a classic either.

Great spots and near falls, this match could do no wrong except the finish and that’s why this match was lower on the list. Let’s hope that 2019 is Andrade’s year to shine.

6. The New Day vs The Bar and The Miz | Smackdown Live May 29th Episode.

While WWE tends to shove 6 man tag matches because “why not?” says the WWE creative team, they can be entertaining even if it’s unexpected like this match.

This is the definition of a fun match with no dull moments. The crowd was very energetic and it made the match so much better to watch. If you want a fun multi-man match with a great crowd, then look no further than this match.

5. Seven Man Gauntlet Match | RAW Feb.19th Episode.

That match was the main focus for that episode of RAW for almost 2 hours and I didn’t yawn which I sometimes ask myself that. Seth Rollins was the MVP of that match.

The way it’s structured and booked was brilliant. By the way, Vince McMahon reportedly booked the entire match and for that, I’m gonna give the old man credit.

4. Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens - Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge | RAW Aug. 27th Episode.

Kevin Owens’ journey from the start of 2018 up until that point was not what he had imagined. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn battled AJ styles for the WWE Championship in a 2 on 1 handicap match at the Royal Rumble and lost. Then left Smackdown Live due to a tag match at Wrestlemania in which had he won, he would’ve kept his job on Smackdown.

Made his return to RAW along with Sami Zayn but unfortunately had to distance his best friend because of Bobby Lashley. Basically got bullied by Braun Strowman and lost his match at SummerSlam with Braun Strowman’s money in the bank contract on the line which led to this Intercontinental championship open challenge.

The Toronto crowd and I watching it at home ate that match up. You can tell during the match that he wanted to finally take the big W but sadly he didn’t. Overall an excellent bout between those two men.

3. Asuka vs Sasha Banks | RAW Jan. 29th Episode.

If there’s one thing that RAW has done that was positive in my eyes is the booking of Asuka. Sasha had some heel like tendencies during this match and add to the fact that she almost killed herself with that suicide dive.

This match was not only flat out amazing but it was hard hitting. If you been avoiding the horror that is RAW for quite some time then make sure to check this match out.

2. Ricochet vs Pete Dunne - Champion vs Champion Winner Take All | NXT Sep. 27th Episode.

From now on as young wrestling fan when I think of great champion vs champion match, I think of this 4-star match. The thing I love about this is that it told a simple, great story. One champion vs another, who’s the best?

And yes I know, Undisputed did interfere in this match and it was predictable that it happened but that led to a Great Wargames match at Takeover War Games Survivor Series weekend. For that, I absolutely don’t mind it.

1. Undisputed Era (Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong) vs Mustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) For The NXT Tag Team Championship | NXT July 11th Episode.

Honestly, I didn’t watch this match when it aired that day but after seeing great reactions from people and the fact that Dave Meltzer gave that match 5 stars, I decided after some time to give this match a watch and I’m glad I did because this match was outstanding.

It was so good that I watched it 4 times. Now that’s how you know a match is good. That finish was in my opinion, brilliant storytelling. This match got me thinking, why's RAW not booking their tag team division like that but that’s another topic for another time.

Thank you so much for reading this and if you like it, please share it around and let me know what are some of your favourite WWE TV matches of 2018. Anyways, stay safe smarks and happy holidays.

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Fyter Fest 2020 Came Back Swinging?

Last week, on this very series, I said that I enjoyed Great American Bash better than Fyter Fest.  Well, this week is the exact opposite. AEW came in swinging with night 2 Fyter Fest.  I've not liked a Dynamite episode in several weeks so it's nice to see that the show finally executed a great show since God knows how long.   NXT      Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae In A Street Fight. The match went underway after Yim quickly attacked Candice LeRae during LeRae's entrance.  In the crowd area, Candice tried to nail the suplex on the table but Yim got out of that position and kicked her to which she landed through the table.  The Streetfight concluded with LeRae striking Yim with the brass knuckles followed by a swinging neck from the top of the table onto a bunch of chairs and that's how LeRae defeats the HBIC.  A fun opening match even though...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...

THE Coherent AEW Take: Christian Dior, Dior. Eddie Kingston up in all the stores!

Ever since AEW Dynamite was on Saturday night for a bit, I've been WAY behind on AEW content so excuse my ignorance. And It's Full Gear weekend which means another PPV that would last longer than the Snyder cut.  Sheeit, I'll bet the collar and elbow hold alone from the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega championship match, is longer than the entire Queen's Crown tournament.  As far as how I feel about both programs this week, well.  They did an okay job on building towards the final AEW PPV of the year this Saturday. Rampage.   Highlights.  Bryan Danielson vs Anthony Bowens.  And no, the highlight doesn't include Max Caster's verses. I'll rather listen to f**king Riff Raff than Max Caster's dig on anything.  The worst part, people are probably going to look at this and say, "can't wait for a Max Caster's appearance on Wild 'N Out!"  With that being said, this opening match was good. Danielson wins with the rebel lock.  Eddie Kingston (wi...
