The Late Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Beach Break Was Meh, Edge's First NXT Appearance.

Apologies for missing 3 weeks worth of Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays.

I had to take a break from the written series due to the fact that at times, it was challenging to summarize 4 hours worth of wrestling.

Hopefully, I'll get consistent at it (watch, I'll not do a Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays next week).

Now, what do I think of NXT and AEW Dynamite this week?

Both episodes had a lot of things going on however, NXT is continuing to deliver great shows while AEW Dynamite has kind of bored me as of late.

So, NXT it is.

NXT

Highlights.

You Think You Know Him?

Finn Balor wanted to face Pete Dunne at Takeover: Vengeance Day for the NXT championship (sign me up) and Dunne accepted the challenge.

Out came Edge and he verbally put over both Dunne and Balor.

Edge ended the promo saying that he's watching the NXT championship match really close because the bout might make him choose to challenge the NXT championship at Wrestlemania.

The dude is a recent Royal Rumble winner so him showing up made a ton of sense. Edge's presence in NXT also legitimizes the brand so It was cool to see the Rated R Superstar’s first appearance on the black and gold brand.

That Tian Sha Vignette Though.

Damn. Based on that vignette, they put MONEY into this persona and to quote that chess McDonald's slogan, "I'm lovin it".

Legado De La Fantasma vs Lucha House Party. Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament Quarter Finals.

All 4 luchadors. A great tag team match. Joaquin Wilde single handedly took out Lucha House Party with a springboard move.

The match ended with a double team Russian leg sweep into a kick from Legado De La Fantasma to advance in the tournament.

MSK showed up to warn Legado De La Fantasma's eventual loss from the newer tag team.

Curt Stallion vs Santos Escobar For The NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

An excellent cruiserweight championship match. Stallion was really impressive. However, he's one of the rare WWE performers that desperately needs a name change.

After Santos retained the cruiserweight championship, Karrion Kross took out 2 out of the 3 members of Legado De La Fantasma.

Kross patiently told Santos Escobar to leave the ring and the cruiserweight champ actually listened to his words.

Hey, I'll take a Kross vs Escobar match if that match actually happens.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Kayden Carter And Kacy Catanzaro Lost To Dakota Kai And Raquel Gonzalez In The Dusty Classic SemiFinals - A decent opening match.

Austin Theory Defeated Leon Ruff - It's a damn shame for Leon Ruff because I thought they built a new midcard star.

I did like the Eddie Guerrero tribute from Leon Ruff though.

Dexter Lumis attacked Austin Theory which is something I'm sure some of you guys are happy with.

Toni Storm, Mercedes Martienz And Io Shirai Brawl Two Weeks Before The Next Takeover - I didn’t mind this. It was a way to build hype for the triple threat NXT women’s title match that should be good.

Tommaso Ciampa And Timothy Thatcher vs Undisputed Era In Adam Cole And Roderick Strong. Dusty Classic Quarter Finals - By the way, Ciampa with that hair, looks like he's aged 10 years. But, mine isn’t any better so I can’t complain.

AEW

Highlights.

A Battle Royal Match To Determine The Number One Contender For The AEW World Tag Team Championship.

Unlike all tag team battle royals that happened in a certain company, if you eliminate a member of a tag team, the rest of the team doesn't have to follow suit.

This looked to be a predictable match but to my surprise, it wasn't. The battle royal match had no business of being this good.

But, I didn't get why The Young Bucks were in this match even though they're the champion?

The team of MJF and Chris Jericho won the match and will face The Young Bucks for the AEW world tag team championship.

Thunder Rosa vs Britt Baker.

A women's match on AEW TV that had a BUILD!? Is that too much to ask, AEW? Anywho, the match was hard-hitting and I like it.

Loved how the fans chanted Thunder Rose's name in the style of ACDC's Thunderstruck.

Due to some outside Interference by Rheba, Britt Baker picked up the W via submission.

With the AEW women's championship number one contenders tournament coming and matches like this, I'm actually hopeful for the future of the AEW women's division.

Some Other Things That Happened.

Sting Warns Team Taz - The segment was fine. I don't want to see Sting wrestle again but AEW has my good faith to pull it off decently (at least, I hope so).

A Wedding Segment Between Miro, Kip Sabian And The Butler, Chuck Taylor - I absolutely do not like wedding segments but this was okay.

Best Friends ruined the wedding as Orange Cassidy emerged from the cake and took out the newly wedded husband, Kip Sabian.

I guess this is the pay off for Chuck Taylor being the butler?

Oh, and James Mitchell from Wrestling With Wregret fame was in that scene too (look, I'm young okay?).

Eddie Kingston Lost To Lance Archer In A Lumberjack Match - Cool.

Did Matt Hardy’s Partnership with Hangman Page Went Smoothly? - The answer was a yes if you avoided how the match ended. Solid commentary for Excalibur aside, the match was aight.

Oh, Look. It’s Hideo Itami - I would be lying if I said I was excited about this given that I'm a WWE shill and I do not watch NJPW. However, AEW is opening doors for an NJPW partnership and like the Impact partnership, it is good for fans watching and the performers.

The 6 man tag team main event was a bit boring, to be honest. It was way too slow for my taste.

The question is, what are some of the highlights of both episodes in your opinion? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Twitter @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE RAW 5/10/20 | A Coherent Review.

I have not said this in a RAW review in a very long time but the show as a whole was straight up dogsh*t awful.  It's so bad that I didn't like one ounce about this program.  pictures via wwe.com Randy Orton Remembers His Match At Clash Of Champions.  The show started off with Randy Orton recalling certain aspects about the WWE championship match at Clash Of Champions.  Orton goes on to say that Drew doesn't deserve the championship because the legends interfered in the ambulance match.  The promo ended with Orton bringing up the fact that he beat up four legends last week on RAW (again, explain the physics behind this?).  Drew showed up and he laid waste on the guy.  Randy has been quite exceptional in the dialogue department but this ain't it.  The promo actually put me to sleep and the show didn't even hit 10 minutes up until that point.  If they suddenly end the rivalry like nothing happened, while it doesn't make sense, I'm all for it be...

WWE NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff | My Coherent Review.

via WWE I don't watch or review the first NXT UK Takeover for some odd reason but I'm so glad I did because that was like the main NXT Takeovers, was absolutely great to watch. I'm just speechless and if you have watched the show then you'll know why (also, if you somehow didn't watch this show, what are you doing? Go and treat yourself with some wrestling goodness.) Noam Dar vs Travis Banks.  A very enjoyable opening match. Noam Dar proves that he's great at what he does with so many submission holes because if you don't know, I'm a technical wrestling connoisseur. Noam Dar won the match with a standing shining wizard.  Cesaro vs Ilja Dragunov. Always great to see Cesaro do what he does best and that's a fight inside the square circle. So, Ilja called out Cesaro because Cesaro's looking for an open challenge and Cesaro obviously picked his challenger.  The Swiss Cyborg started off this match by throwing Dragunov to the outside ...
