WWE Smackdown Draft Day Night 1 | A Coherent Review.

Itsssssss draft time and it kicked off on this episode on this week's episode of Smackdown (no f'ing sh*t, Omar).

Looking at the archives, I've not covered last year's Draft but I did cover the last ever Superstar Shakeup (and thank God it was the last).

So, how was the 2020 WWE draft night one?

There were some picks that I liked but there were a few that bothered me the most.

As a whole, Smackdown was a decent show.

Round one.

RAW: Drew McIntyre.

Smackdown: Roman Reigns.

RAW: Asuka.

Smackdown: Seth Rollins.

RAW: The Hurt Business.

I like the picks. Seth Rollins moving to the blue brand is a nice new scenery because I am done with the Rollins/Mysterio family rivalry (check out the round 3 picks, Omar).

Big E vs Sheamus In A Falls Count Anywhere Match.

During the bout, Sheamus shoved Big E some flour and eggs in the catering area (it's gonna be a long day in the bathroom for the big man).

They then fought all the way to the parking lot and the Celtic Warrior delivered the white noise to Big E on the front car to a near fall.

Big E retaliated with the big ending through some tables and Big E won the match.

I am not the biggest fan of what Big E's got going on with Sheamus but this match was great not gonna lie.

It really honours the fall count anywhere stipulation.

After the match, Big E was confronted by his brothers, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods and they are eyeing on the tag team belts.

Jey Uso Welcomes Roman To The Uso Penitentiary.

After Jey Uso said that, Roman Reigns said via in his room of some sort that he loves his cousin but at Hell In A Cell, there will be consequences.

The Hell In A Cell match will have an I quit match stipulation and it adds even more intrigued in this storyline.

It also makes sense given that Jey refused to quit during the universal championship at Clash Of Champions.

Before Stephanie McMahon revealed the round 2 picks, she was ranked number 2 in the Forbes' most influential CMO for "championing women's equality, speaking out against racism and providing the safety of WWE superstars and fans during the pandemic".

I don't know if Forbes wrote this or Kayfabe News did.

Round 2.

RAW: AJ Styles.

Smackdown: Sasha Banks.

RAW: Naomi.

Smackdown: Bianca Belair.

RAW: Nia Jax And Shayna Baszler.

The best picks were by far, Naomi and Bianca Belair. Naomi's has a new set of superstars to face but you know WWE.

They might have her face Natalya for the gazillionth time.

Jeff Hardy And Matt Riddle vs The Miz And John Morrison.

The match wasn't really that noteworthy but post-match? Yea, it was.

Lars Sullivan returned to WWE after a year of absence and he destroyed Matt Riddle, Jeff Hardy and The Miz.

Sullivan is in the draft line up for RAW this Monday.

I don't know how to feel about this one way or another.

Round 3.

RAW: Ricochet.

Smackdown: Jey Uso.

RAW: Mandy Rose.

Smackdown: Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

RAW: The Miz And John Morrison.

Ricochet is going to feud with The Hurt Business which is a fresh match-up (sarcasm of course).

Also, WHYYYYYYYEEEE? The Mysterio Family should've stayed on RAW.

Sasha Banks vs Bayley For The SmackDown Women's Championship.

The match ended via a DQ due to Bayley hitting Banks with a chair.

Banks was about to stomp Bayley on the chair hung on Bayley's neck but the women's champion quickly left the ring.

I feel like that DQ would've had more weight to it if Banks was drafted to RAW.

Have a pissed off Sasha not getting her revenge because she was drafted to another show while Bayley is goofing around smiling.

But, it is what it is, I guess.

Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura vs The New Day For The SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Earlier in the night, Stephanie McMahon announced that tag team title match so that's how the encounter came to be.

Corey Graves was frustrated that The New Day got a title opportunity.

To which I say, Smackdown got no tag teams so why are you bothered?

Oh, and The New Day are the seven-time tag team champions.

Round 4.

RAW: Kofi Kingston And Xavier Woods.

Smackdown: Big E.

RAW: Dana Brooke.

Smackdown: Otis.

RAW: Angel Garza.

The New Day, at least the trio, is no more. So, according to the new rules, is the Street Profits coming to Smackdown?

Exactly Big E

Another question, are the SmackDown tag team titles going to be labelled as the RAW tag team titles and vice versa for Street Profits if the pick for the raw champs will be made?

Or, are they going to unify the RAW and Smackdown tag team belts?

This is so typical of WWE with the over-complication of their rosters and storylines.

The Money In The Bank contract lawsuit has been delayed and Heavy Machinery isn't too happy about that. Cool.

In a backstage promo, Banks wanted to take everything away from Bayley including the SmackDown women's championship.

A decent promo.

Kevin Owens vs "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.

The match ended with Kevin Owens delivering the pop-up powerbomb onto the announce table.

But that didn't put The Fiend down as Wyatt delivered the mandible claw on Owens to win the match.

Alexa Bliss and Bray Wyatt stared at each other to end the program.

Not the greatest main event match of all time but it was fine for what it was.

Alexa Bliss CONTINUES to be great in her role.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Big E vs Sheamus In A Falls Count Anywhere Match, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso segment, draft picks like Naomi and Bianca Belair.

Didn't like: Some draft picks like Rey and Dominik Mysterio moving to the same show that Seth is in, the over-complication surrounding the tag team belts from both brands.

My Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: A Broserweight Road Trip To Portland, Britt Baker Addresses Her Attack On Yuka Sakazaki Last Week.

While this was a typical night for AEW, NXT, however, had a go-home show to deliver just days before the next anticipated Takeover show in Portland, Oregon.  But, NXT's final show before the second Takeover of 2020 didn't bring it, unfortunately, in terms of quality as the 20th episode of AEW Dynamite was the better show this week even though AEW Dynamite is a hit or miss program.  NXT    Highlights.  Roderick Strong vs Bronson Reed. Before the match, a pissed off Roderick Strong demanded an apology from the Velveteen Dream given that Dream put his wife and child's face on his trucks.  By the way, Bronson Reed's theme song is killer and so is this match. A slow, technical, old-school type of match that wouldn't fit the big man on paper but the execution was a different story.  The lights turned purple and Reed hits the suicide dive but he missed a Samoan splash that led to a knee strike from Strong and wins the match.  Then,...

Top 3 BEST Distraction Finishes EVER!

Distraction endings to a wrestling match in WWE depend on one another if you think about it. It's like the peanut butter and jelly or the chicken and the basmati biryani rice or Dan Lambert and sexism.  "Why top 3", you may ask? Because one, I'm different and two, well, I'm different, so be gone to the mofos that think it's shorter than Brock Lesnar's bout with Kofi Kingston.  (WARNING: This piece is mostly sarcasm).  Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Wrestlemania 28.  I know this made your eyebrows raise as high as Rocky Maivia but think about this. The kiss from AJ Lee that led to a brogue kick from Sheamus, has in some way, led to the general audience seeing how Daniel Bryan should be WAY higher in the overall arc than where he was at that time.  Also, this was also the year where Bryan showed off his comedic chops with his "NO" catchphrase and his tag team run with the big red conservative, Kane.  If anything, this distraction finish was a great chara...

Roman Reigns Relinquishes The Universal Title Because He Has Leukemia.

I have a sad and unfortunate news to break. Two hours ago on RAW, Roman cut a great promo pretty much stating that he's been living with leukemia for over 11 years and the disease's return forced him to give up the universal championship. The segment ended with both shield members Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins gave a group hug to Roman and did the triple shield fist pump. Ever since that, fellow WWE superstars reacted to the news on Twitter and here are the tweets so far. An amazing human being, an incredible performer & a man I’m proud to be friends with. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Get well soon, champ! #ThankYouRoman https://t.co/jL1Q5dVvzs — #WOKEN, yet #BROKEN, Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) October 23, 2018 My heart right now ....
