Super showdown 2020 was dull, boring and even frustrating at times. The two previous Saudi shows from last year were surprisingly okay but this was just a flavourless taste in my mouth and this is coming from the resident WWE shill. By far, the worst PPV of 2020 so far.
A skippable match that we've seen for the gazillionth time. Yay for unwanted repetition! The O.C wins. Cool.
R Truth and Bobby Lashley started off this match and Truth wins via a roll-up. Lashley then attacks R Truth (like we've not seen that spot before) to which out came the second opponent of the night, the returning Andrade and the way that encounter ended was odd yet somehow not horrible.
Both men hit each other with their heads and Truth pins the guy to keep fighting in this gauntlet match. The fourth opponent in Erick Rowan showed up and thanks to him beating R Truth with the steel steps getting a DQ in the process, Truth is still in this match. The fifth opponent, AJ Styles walked to the ring with a hugely positive reaction from the Riyadh crowd.
Styles was dancing his way to victory like literally (for a white guy, he surprisingly pulled out some decent dance moves). The phenomenal one prevails with a calf crusher.
Rey Mysterio's music hits but the luchador is nowhere to be seen because Rey was attacked by Styles' buddies in Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
The ref counted to 10 but a man with a black coat knocked The O.C members down and you know who that person is. It's Angel from Buffy The Vampire Slayer I mean, The Undertaker. He slowly walked to the ring and chokeslammed Styles to win this match.
Huh? As much as I'm an Undertaker mark, this made no sense like he wasn't part of this match unless he asked the authorities but they didn't even show that.
This would've been written better if The O.C didn't attack Rey Mysterio, have Styles win this match by beating Mysterio and then have Taker show up. A great example of WWE over complicating themselves with their storytelling.
I will say though that the first half of this gauntlet match was pretty good. It made R Truth look the best I've ever seen from the guy. Maybe it's because his documentary was going to air after this show? Hmmm?
Moving on from that awful booking decision, The New Day in a backstage promo, basically talked about how they're gonna walk out as champions and speaking of which……
A decent match. That hurricanrana from Kofi Kingston was picture-perfect fantastic. The New Day did a double team electric chair position from Big E into a stomp by Kofi to John Morrison.
The Miz was hitting the yes kicks and the crowd ate that up (first AJ Styles and now The Miz and John Morrison? That crowd really loves the heels don't they?).
Kofi landed hard on the floor when he did a suicide dive and Miz quickly moved away. John Morrison hits Kofi with the chair without the ref's witness and Miz rolled Kofi up to win the tag team titles. Wow, a decision that wasn’t bad from a creative standpoint. Is that too much to ask WWE?
Two cousins battled it out in a dull match, to be honest, and even the crowd felt that way based on the minimal reactions. It especially slowed down in the second half of the match. Angel Garza wins with a roll-up.
Bayley in an interview with Bryon Saxton said that she's been making history for years and will prove to Naomi and every performer in the locker room that she's the most dominant champion of all time. Cool.
This match started off slow and continued to stay that way for the majority of this match. The only highlight was Montez Ford's frog splash on Seth Rollins.
The champs retain the belts with a stomp from Seth to Angelo Dawkins without the ref's knowledge and Murphy pins Dawkins.
During Ziggler's entrance, there was a quick video glitch popped up which also appeared in last week's edition of Smackdown that I did not mention for some reason.
Mansoor wins the match to which he cut a promo basically thanking the fans over at Saudi Arabia. Can WWE please utilize this guy outside of the Saudi shows because the dude is talented.
Once again, the Riyadh crowd loves their heels because damn, Brock was OVAH as Matt Hardy would like to put it.
You know what else was OVAH? This match but unlike most matches, this was quick. Lesnar wins with the F5. I was looking forward to this match and it had an anticlimactic ending. Disappointing, to say the least.
Here we go. That match was Bo. Ring. Bo. Ring. Bo. Ring. That sloth in the movie Zootopia was faster than this match.
Also, Mickey Cole and his fallow uncreative bunch called this feud a "classic" and look, wrestling is subjective but that statement is all kinds of bullsh*t. Roman Reigns wins with a spear to King Corbin. Good. Never visit that feud again, WWE.
Naomi executed a decent looking plancha on the outside leading to a chin-lock moments later (well, that was lame).
Bayley delivered a Bayley to belly but Naomi kicked out. Bayley locked in Naomi's leg with the help of Naomi's shirt and hit the facebuster to win this match. That was aight. Will see where the SmackDown women's championship scene takes from here.
Thank God the rumours were not true. The red lights are gone. However, Goldberg squashed The Fiend like he's a bug, rendering the mystic of that character as obsolete with a jackhammer. First off, the match was a typical Goldberg match which is Spear, spear, spear then a jackhammer but that didn't bother me.
What bothered me was how in this match, it contradicted Wyatt's Hell In A Cell match with Seth Rollins as an unstoppable monster and he was stopped with an F'ING jackhammer.
WWE had the chance to make his reign as champion even more dominant had he defeated a big star like Goldberg but nope, they decided to pull off a Goldberg victory instead which is just head-scratching.
But, If I will contradict myself for a bit, the idea of a match between Goldberg vs Roman Reigns is intriguing, however, this was a big low blow to Bray Wyatt's character and I'm not sure how he'll recover from this.
So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.
Like: John Morrison And The Miz vs The New Day, the first half of the gauntlet match.
Didn't like: The ending to the Goldberg vs Bray Wyatt match, how The Undertaker won the gauntlet match, Brock Lesnar vs Ricochet, a boring Roman Reigns vs King Corbin match.

Seth Rollins And Murphy vs The Street Profits For The RAW Tag Team Championship.

Goldberg vs "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt For The Universal Championship.
WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!! |
Thank God the rumours were not true. The red lights are gone. However, Goldberg squashed The Fiend like he's a bug, rendering the mystic of that character as obsolete with a jackhammer.
